  • "Trendy Vancouver restaurant with great Louisiana style food experience. A nice change from the cookie cutter restaurants in Vancouver. Variety of food on the menu excellent. Consider their half price appetizer specials but check the time. Pricing on the menu very reasonable. Service was efficient and friendly. Odd that we had wine in water glasses. Very noisey restaurant so if you want a quiet relaxing dinner not the place, however, if you want to party and have a energized night where it is hard to talk to your table mates, this is the place. The music was very loud. Parking in the area expensive so make sure you plan ahead. Nice to try but won't go back."

  • "Great restaurant with a New Orleans flair! The oysters were fresh, firm and flavorful & were accompanied by some great sauces. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. He recommended the Southern Fried Chicken for my entree. It was outstanding! A large breast and leg portion was soaked in Buttermilk then battered just right and fried to a golden brown crunch! It is not a fine dining restaurant. More casual & the long, narrow layout with the open kitchen and oyster bar on one side and windows on the other was pleasing, but made for a rather noisy atmosphere... Overall I had a great experience here and would recommend it if you wanted to have a nice casual evening with friends, eat some great oysters, and some southern "comfort food"."

  • "Literally. I'm pretty sure most of the menu is on the no-eat list for anyone with high cholesterol. But that doesn't mean the food isn't delicious. I've been here a few times for lunch and a couple of times for after-work get togethers. I have yet to try the Waygu burger that my co-workers have been raving about, but what I have tried has been pretty good. Their fries are to die for and I could easily just have a side of fries as lunch and be happy. Their calamari is a must-try - not deep fried and all the better for it. Tender and tasty. If you dare, try the pork crackling. Mmm, mmm fat."

  • "This is the second time that I have been to Chewies at Coal Harbour and it was absolutely outstanding! The bourbon sours to start with are highly addictive. We had the fried green tomatoes with prawns and a delicious remoulade sauce and it was outstanding! I will order this dish every time! I went with a friend and we both were torn between ordering the gumbo and the oyster po'boy so we ordered one of each and then shared them. Oyster po'boy was delicious however I would suggest ordering a side of remoulade as it really spiced up the sandwich. The gumbo was good however the roux was a little too dark for my tastes but still very good overall. Highly recommend this place!"

  • "I have been to the kits location and the food was decent. Had dinner last time and wanted to try lunch. Booked at coal harbour because kits was full. My friend got the fried chicken, had that last time and it is good. I tried the fried chicken po boy, soggy and so disappointing..... The cafe Du monde beignet wasn't quite like New Orleans but it was good. Red velvet cake, another miss."

  • "The food was fine. It was the service and noise level that was the issue. I spent a lot of time trying to flag down the servers who seemed to prefer talking to each other rather than being more attentive to their customers. The music was cranked during the lunchtime and made it difficult for us to carry on a conversation. When paying I was only given the option of paying 18% (after-tax by the way) or Other so I can only assume the managers/owners expect their customers to compensate their staff 18% for their services, so if this is the case I would suggest they hire, train and manage their staff to perform at this level."

  • "I ordered southern fried chicken and waffles and when I got my meal the chicken was not fried or the pieces other patrons got. Instead I got 2 small pieces of chicken tenders. Waitor tried to tell me differently. I showed a picture of their other location and huge difference. Yet the waitor insisted this is how their chicken is for brunch. Never again will I go back. Yes they ended up comping my meal but I'm upset that the waitor would lie to my face and get upset with me when he asked me how my brunch was. I told him the truth that I was disappointed in what I received."

  • "The place was recommended by a coworker and it absolutely stood up to the rave reviews. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. The tables stand a bit too close together for my liking. The food was great, with really good serving sizes. The Southern Fried Chicken was absolutely scrumptious, the honey drizzle and the buttermilk mash potatoes - absolutely delicious. My boyfriend loved the BBQ ribs. They were well cooked and very tender. The chocolate lava cake was moist and perfect. Also of note, they pour their wine with a meniscus into a rocks glass, so that you have to sip before you can pick it up. Fun! Our server was very attentive, friendly and funny. I definitely recommend Chewies for foodies and getting together witg friends."

The server was friendly and knowledgable but he was slow for lunch time, most people only have an hour or so time is of the essence and it seemed to be that all the servers just had too many tables."

We both ordered the lobster salad. I had mine with scallops. It came with two. For a $26 salad, it was small. I left hungry. I likely won't be going back soon."

After being sat down at our table, we were ignored for over 25 minutes before a waiter helped us, after we flagged down the floor manager asking where in the world was our waiter! The 2 tables to our left were just as frustrated. Particularly when we realized that our waiter was hanging out and chatting with a table that was obviously his friends. Unacceptable."

  • "We were initially encouraged by the atmosphere; however, we were discouraged that our table was not available upon our arrival. Accepting of such oversights, we waited at the bar... We were moved prior to our table prior to receiving our food. The fried oysters were excellent. Very tasty with tartar sauce. For mains, she had the seafood pot, which she said was good, and I had the jambalaya, which was tasty. The portions were plentiful. No one came to our table to check on us. Once we were done, we sat waiting FOREVER. No one came to refresh our drinks. No one came to ask us any questions. No one came to see if we were finished. We were ignored completely. By the time someone finally came by to let us pay I was quite frustrated."

The atmosphere was awesome, again, great for a mixture of people: dates, parties, friends, etc. I have a gluten/egg/diary intolerance and there was still plenty for me to eat, which isn't always easy to find.   • "Upon seeing a FB post of their brunch offering of Chicken and Waffles I decided immediately to book a Sunday brunch date for my wife and me. I ordered Chicken n Waffles and my wife the Crab Cake Benny. My waffles arrived quartered and stacked in a tower with the two pieces of thigh meat to one side. Drizzled on top of all was a subtley spicy sauce. Combined with a bit of maple syrup, the combo of the chicken and waffle was perfect, with the hint of Cajun heat just below the surface. As for the Benny, there were 2 of the tallest crab cakes we'd ever seen topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. Under this was avocado and the muffin. Again, the combination of the crab, avocado and egg worked well together."

  • "Came here for the buck a shuck from 3-6. The oyster was very good. Also tried their fried chicken. Have been told by many that it is very good, but honestly I think it was only okay. The skin is crispy but it is not the crispy like traditional Al fried chicken. It is more like cracker crispy. However the mash potato with that SWEET SAUCE that came with the Po boy fried chicken was amazing!!! better than the chicken itself. Service was friendly and attentive. Price is not too $$ considering the location."

We enjoyed the garlic/wine sauce Mussels and the main dish vegetable rice bowl. Both were very tasty. It felt a bit louder than the Kits location, but overall it was a great Chewies experience."
