Cherrywood Kitchen, A Rustic New American Restaurant:

Cherrywood Kitchen's menu will focus on seasonality with an emphasis on the green market. Chef Cheung's commitment to using quality ingredients and creative cooking techniques is the driving principle behind Cherrywood Kitchen's vibrant cuisine: a menu replete with cherrywood-grilled meats, house-made breads and fresh seafood dishes. For the winter, Chef Cheung will devote a portion of his offerings to clay pot cooking with slow-braised shellfish, short rib and vegetarian selections.

We had reservations for CherryWood but on the night we showed up for them, the place was completely dark, no signs of life, or anything to indicate what was going on there. Calling their number only was met with the automated answer machine and leaving a message has not yet solicited a response from CherryWood. Though I have not yet been there, their clear disregard for customers (ones they full well knew were coming because of reservations) is enough to turn me away for good.

This is our go to restaurant when we go see bands at City Winery. You have to order the lobster tacos and duck spring rolls for starters. I l also love the soft shell crabs for an entree.

Very nice waiter. Interesting whipped blue chees w /bread. Too warm. Who turned down the air conditioning? Out of a couple of beers on the menu. Nice chocolate liquer ending! Nicely furnished. Very high ceiling. The appetizer and entree were fine, though i don't know why we were given nut crackers for our shellfish entree as there were no shells in it that needed cracking. But tere was a nice assortment of oysters and clams and muscles all in their own well opened shells. And there were a few bits of sausage in that dish, very nice.

They seem to have a nice happy hour here, 1/2 price cocktails. The bartender was super friendly. Our waitress was also really friendly, but not overly attentive. We started with the lobster tacos and the spring rolls, they were both good but not really stand out. For entrees I had the noodle soup, I thought it was quite good and better than what I've gotten at some of the trendy ramen restaurants on the LES, my bf had the 3 treasures, which I thought was quite bland but he really enjoyed it.

The staff was amazing, the menu refreshing (farm-fresh, unique, delicious, inventive, glorious) and the desserts were impeccable. The sesame dessert was INSANE! Also, the bread is hot and made in the restaurant. I loved the ambiance and again, the staff made the experience top-notch. Definitely try.

The atmosphere was perfect -- quiet and conducive to conversation. Service was impeccable - the water glasses were never empty and the table was cleaned between courses. The portions are small, which makes it seem a little pricey, but no one left hungry. I highly recommend a visit for your next night out.

The food was really good but there is nothing American about the cuisine, its actually Asian - perhaps there's a typo in the category for this restaurant. The clay pot with Chinese sausage and duck is as Asian as you can get. The golden yukon potato nests were delicious, I highly recommend it. The spring rolls were also really good, I really like the little touch of siracha on top. I was skeptical of the rose when they only had two selections but the Cotes du Rhone rose was exceptionally good, I highly recommend that as well.

Very unusual asia accented dishes that for the most part are outstanding. The chef here takes a lot of risks that, but for a few misses, makes this a must try for adventurous palates. The place has not yet caught on, and the staff tries extra hard to win friends.

Went for dinner before a show and was quite impressed by the cocktails (Gin Gimlet and Red Rum) and especially pleased with the food. The French Fry Ends with crumbled bacon is sinful and the complimentary (fresh baked) bread with whipped bleu cheese is out of this world. We could've stopped there, but we didn't. The soft-shell crab was the largest I've ever had and really delicious. So was my boyfriend's dish...the Market Fish which had the most amazing broth. Service was outstanding as well. We will definitely be back!

The greeter/hostess was very welcoming on a rainy evening hanging our jackets and storing our umbrellas and thanking us for still coming in on the rainy night. The server was very knowledgeable and sold us on specialty cocktails which the Manhattan and Cherrywood were outstanding. The food, which we only ordered enterees, was very well put together, with lots of flavor and complexity. We had the softshell crab and duck dishes which we both gave an A. We opted out of dessert too but the restaurant offered us a complimentary dessert cocktail shooter, which was a nice touch. Everything hit our expectations if not exceeded, but it would have been that much better to express this to the manager on duty who didn't stop by. Overall a good spot!

We live in the neighborhood and wanted to give it a try. Beautiful space and very welcoming. First impression when ordering wine was that it was very expensive - cheapest bottle $50, which for a neighborhood go-to place is too high. However, the food was absolutely delicious, portions generous, fresh warm bread delicious, and the owner sent over two glasses of wine complimentary. All in all, a lovely dinner and we will be back.

Good ambience and romantic setting. The food was really unique. Some dishes had rabbit. The dish I had was chicken stuffed with eel, which was delicious. Lobster tacos were also amazing. I think that some dishes they try "too hard" but overall the food was great. I think that it's a one time meal though that I wouldn't try again.

I gave this place a try on my day off for lunch and I only wish I worked close by so I could come for lunch regularly. It's hard to describe this food without using the words asian fusion or flair, so I will say that it's superfusion. All really good, at the top of our chart were the lobster tacos, gourmet burgers, and french fry hash with bacon crumble. Great bloody marys and they made a delicious fruit punch for my son. Our only regret is that we had no room for dessert which I assume would have delicious since the complimentary pretzel rolls were baked on premises, delivered warm, and out of this world.

Went with a friend on a Tuesday night and we both had the three course prix-fixe menu for $30, which is incredibly good value. We started with the salmon head salad and the tomato salad, both were very fresh and tasty. For our main courses we had the fresh-killed chicken and the market fish (striped bass) in broth. Both were delicious. For dessert we had the sesame chocolate balls and the tea and coffee ice cream. Portion sizes are the same as a la carte so we both left feeling full with doggy bags in tow. The cocktails were also great. We tried the blood orange champagne to start and then the sangria. The service was also very good. At such good value, it's highly likely I will return.

My only complaint relates to the fact that I was the only diner in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening on the early side (7pm). The waiter came by every few minutes to ask how I like X or Y. Then the Chef came out. Then some other guy. I know they were trying to be friendly, but it was too much. I don't think I was being encouraging. I just thought it was intrusive. This is a small complaint. The food was excellent. I'm sure if the restaurant were busier, this wouldn't have happened.

We enjoyed our dinner at CherryWood Kitchen very much. For a new restaurant they seemed to have all their ducks in a row! Food quality, service and ambiance were all outstanding. Speaking of ducks, the duck wings were incredible and if they are on the menu ORDER them. Yu will not be disappointed. Our party enjoyed the lobster tacos and yukon potato crisps as well. The main courses were also a delight, the market fish was striped bass the night of our visit and was served beautifully with other seafood stew style, the ribs were smokey tender and fell off the bone and the wagyu was flavorful and cooked to order. Our server couldn't have been more attentive and interested in our enjoyment of our menu items and restaurant decor was beautiful.
