Diner Reviews
  • "While I enjoyed the lobster tacos everything else we ordered was mediocre at best. Given that, it was quite expensive. Also, when settling the bill it took about 20 minutes to get that taken care of."

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants in MPD. Great food, reasonable prices, swanky and sexy. The ambience is lovely; deep reddish hue w/ dim lighting and a beautiful staff. Their tuna tart is insane, and the Pisco Provençal cocktail is my fav. Service was immaculate. A++++"

  • "As a non-New-yorker, this was exactly what I wanted. A beautifully decorated Japanese restaurant with a French fusion which is reflected in both the decor and the menu. It was very nice, bar like atmosphere, a lot of people, but everyone comfortably seated. It was really beautiful for our anniversary celebration. They have an incredible Sake selection and some very interesting cocktails. The food was really good, but not spectacular. we had the Salmon carpaccio, lobster roll and crunchy roll as well some Tempura appetizers."

  • "Service was very slow from our waiter for some reason while the bussers were more attentive. But overall a great experience. Great food and great ambience."

  • "I heart cherry - it is literally my most favorite restaurant to go to. I've recommended it to so many people over the last year that have enjoyed and recommended Cherry to their friends. Staff is amazing and all super nice and super hot. :-)"

  • "Cherry has an extremely sexy ambiance & decadent selection of menu items. If you go expecting attententive service with a lax European feel/time element, you will find yourself pleased! Dish must haves: -tuna tarte -red snapper sushi -waygu beef tartare -eel and bacon sushi roll -dessert: banana tarte tatin We only wished we weren't too full to try the Seanad entree! I have now added this restaurant to my top NYC go tos for sexy dates and gluttonous meals. Highly recommended!"

  • "we opted for the omakase and were not disappointed, we got a nice variety of sushi and sashimi as well as there top appetizers and main courses, the place has a very cool vibe, great date place, the red velvet chairs give it a lounge feel and tables are spread out so you feel like you have some room, we would definately return"

  • "Fabulous find! Very romantic - think dim lighting and red velvet. Mixologist was EXCELLENT - would be a great spot for drinks, dinner, or both!"

  • "Food was very good. The atmosphere was great, trendy, cool, great bar scene too. Definitely a new hot spot. The desserts were the best part. They were outstanding! The banana tartin and the bread pudding were so delicious, we wanted more! We had some amazing star sightings too. We saw Andy Roddick and his wife Brooklyn Decker, John Legend and Chase Crawford. That was icing on the cake!"

  • "We heard great recommendations about Cherry when we decided to book it for our get together with a dear friend coming from another country It was a perfect place to talk and laugh and catch up as it is not loudly, the setting is very nice and romantic, candle lights atmosphere, amazing service!! Every single dish we ordered was heavenly! I'm glad we shared all in the table.. It was so good that we ordered some dishes TWICE... and we could not even decide which one was best...! : Tuna Tacos Almond crispy shrimps Salmon Avocado roll Shrimps tempura roll Grilled Salmon Glazed See Bass with Miso Banana tart tattan Green Tea chocolate souffle Will definitely come here again! we are already figuring which one of our guests deserve this treat! :)"

  • "The restaurant is set approximately 35 feet below the level of the street, but shockingly had large rooms with lofty ceilings. The decor is very warm and inviting. Additionally I found the waiting staff to be extremely helpful, and honest (e.g. told me what to order based on customer feedback instead of what was most expensive). The cocktails were fantastic. A small caution to those who are budget minded, although the dishes are very affordable ($13-28), they are small. So expect your dinner to run somewhere in the ballpark of $90-$105 a piece (especially if you are ordering a cocktail or two). Honestly, I felt it was more than worth the price because the food was exquisite. I will definitely visit again."

  • "We have been to this place with my girlfriend and it was a very memorable dinner. The food is excellent the service perfect and the ambiance very intimate. The only very bad point was the hostess which welcomed us. The restaurant was almost empty and she asked us to wait at the bar for no reason ! It was weird and inapropriate."

  • "We started with the tuna tacos. They were amazing. We also had the vegetable tempura. Excellent! We shared the spicy tuna roll and the barbecued eel. So delicious! My only regret is that we didn't order more. Also, don't miss the rooftop bar. They have some beautiful views of the Empire State Building. All the doormen are gentlemen at the rooftop bar."

  • "Cherry is about 3 stories underground. The ceilings were too low and I thought this made it lack elegance. I think the low ceilings of the place was what got me."

  • "Food was decent - nothing to brag about but certainly not anything to be ashamed of either. Staff was friendly. The restaurant is down stairs and the temperature in the Restaurant was too hot to eat and share conversation in comfort. It's a relatively dark and intimate dinner environment, which is nice, and you can get away with things here that you can't in similarly situated establishments. We had a family of 3 sit next to us who decided to turn the restaurant into their own photography studio. The continuous flashes and lens changes were interrupting several tables in the back half of the restaurant - like a disco ball in a night club - for 30 minutes without being addressed. We simply left - Will try again - an isolated experience?"

  • "Got there for 7pm dinner on Thursday. Nice vibe, even with just a handful of people. Had a chance to have a conversation before crowd buzz happened. Noticed more women having dinner together. Food was mixed. The short rib Goyza was good, the black cod dumplings were not. Very mushy, little flavor. Sushi was no different than other places. Fuji Apple dessert was tasty. If you like a scene, you can't go wrong"

  • "Nice addition to the neighourhood. The ambiance is cosy, boudoir style. The food is asian based with some french inspiration like the foie gras dumpling. I consider the Tuna tartare rice crispy as the highlight of the menu. The Sea bass is also excellent. Service is fantastic and the staff is gorgeous."

  • "This was my third time at Cherry and the food is always great. The bartenders were super nice as we waited for our table and the waitress was very attentive. I always bring a new group of friends and they are thrilled with the choice."

  • "Bond street owner has done it again where I find Cherry and bond Street both very similar in ambiance, decor and menu diversity of food/drinks. Highly recommend a try to any who possess a Japanese fusion palate. Chilean Sea Bass complimented with a few Ruby Pistol's and I couldn't have asked for a better dinning experience. If that wasn't enough, I mentioned I was on date in advance and the host sat us in the private dining room. My 6'4 blonde date and I had that room entirely to ourselves where the waiter even closed half the curtain and unscrewed the light bulb hovering our table. Ironically I don't care too much for cherries as a fruit but love them as a restaurant."

  • "The place ambience an decor is amazing but the service and the food is below a average. The hostes and waiter act like macdonalds they just dont care about it. I dont recomend it cause are are thousands of such great restaurants around."

  • "Went with family and baby and found service to be excellent, food really good and great ambiance. The tables are comfortable and there is plenty of space to speak and not be heard by your neighbors. Intimate yet fun! Price is at the high end..."

  • "I think the night was started off poorly with a 50 minute wait for our 10pm reservation. Needless to say, Cherry did not honor our reservation for two people at 10 o'clock. You know, I am normally very understanding of this, Cherry is a popular place, but I think I blame the hostesses for this one. Luckily we has a great experience with a bartender at the bar who really helped us pick a good sake, bravo to you and thank you! Table service was horrible, maybe it was too late? The only thing that saved this night was the food, absolutely incredible. Tuna tarts, almond shrimp, miso cod- all delicious. I'm not sure I will return in the near future, but if you are on the fence about going, I would try it for the foodie experience."
