  • "My husband and I were excited to try Chequers, unfortunately, the food did not live up our expectations. The mussels were cooked well but they were so tiny and the sauce was bland. My grouper was moist, but tasted bland. My side of roasted artichoke was terrible. It was underdone and inedible. My husband's tuna was better, but was just ok. His side of asparagus was also underdone, tough and chewy. The lemon, asparagus risotto was very creamy, but lacked salt. For the prices, I expected better quality. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, however it is way too dark. You can barely read the menu or see your food because the lighting is so dim. Since the restaurant is new, I'd be willing to give it another try."

  • "Enjoyed going to the same restaurant that used to be by my office and now near my house! Food tasted fresh and service was excellent. The restaurant is a little dark and could use some more outside windows. It was $110 for the two of us and that covered entrees and 3 glasses of wine. Not the cheapest place around but you get what you pay for."

  • "Many customers pulled out flashlights to read menus that were seated at tables. Booths were well lit but tables were not. It was funny to see so many flashlights, and people holding candles near menus, thought I was at a concert! Very dark since all glass to building is black except for front door. When someone entered front door all people in direction of sunlight were blinded. Think they need a room divided r rethink the layout."

  • "The new location feels much smaller than the original, which redefines it as a neighborhood gem vs a larger dining room restaurant. The bar is lively but very comfortable-modern, warm & engaging. The real test: Signature biscuit are still AWESOME. The second one always puts me over the top-but is hard to resist. Great quality main courses. They should bring back that great clam chowder. Enjoy!"

  • "After having an excellent brunch at Chequers recently, my wife and I decided to make a reservation for our anniversary dinner at Chequers. We ordered wine, the calamari appetizer, and the grouper and mixed seafood grille entrees. We were really disappointed with the quality of the food. The calamari was over-done and heavily breaded. The grouper had no flavor and was over-done and the mixed grille was mediocre at best - - the scallops were very good, but the salmon, shrimp and crabcakes seemed over-cooked and lacked flavor. The waiter was just ok, he could sense we were disappointed with the meals but did not acknowledge it. We were so looking forward to having Chequers in East Cobb but I would not recommend the restaurant for dinner."

  • "Hostess and waiter were nice and accomodating. The service was not coordinated; we got a biscuit, then after some time - menus, then orders taken, and then water served. Biscuits were supplied by a staffer with a hot tray roaming the dining area. We were offered one biscuit each the entire night, but they were cold when drinks came. Waiter indicated they might be "out of" some items on the entree menu, but our items were ordered fine. The waiter later accomodated the bill for an unavailable dessert. Our party was pleased with the quality of the food itself. The ambiance was difficult to ascertain due to the darkness. Visibility was low; they could benefit by adding additional lighting. Men's bathroom was clean, but out of hand towels."

  • "The service was outstanding. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. We were served an amazingly good biscuit and water and our service was there to describe the offerings and take our order. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the crab cake absolutely delicious. The mango sorbet and key lime were equally delicious. We alive four hours away but will return the next time are in the area."

  • "Thr five of us were seated at a round table which was jammed into a very noisy room. We could not squeeze past the surrounding tables to go the the restroom. When the waiter leaned forward to take the order from the next table, he literally had his hindquarters about 12 inches from my head. As far as your biscuits go..I would be embarrassed to serve them to my guests. The food was not up to the standards I experienced at the old location. The ambiance was a lot less sophisticated than at the old place. My husband said we will never go there again. I, however, would like to try it on a week night when it might be less hectic."

  • "Some of the items we selected to eat were REALLY delicious, but some of them were just OK. Without our $20 off coupon, I don't know that we would take our two kids there again as it was expensive. The service was spotty - attentive at times and then they just disappeared. I would try it again, and order my own bowl of the fabulous lobster bisque."

  • "The new Chequers seems to be vying for a "hipper" crowd than in its original venue. The food was fine, in fact, the Ahi Tuna (which came at a virtual sushi level of preparation- despite not being asked how I wanted it prepared) was, upon requesting that it be grilled to "medium", was terrific. Dishes were nicely prepared and presented. The noise level was quite abrasive. The bar produced roars and shrieks. The restaurant will/and should be a success, if only it had sound absorbing ceiling tiles. We will be back...but, only if there are tables available on the outside patio."

  • "The best thing about Chequers is the ambiance. When you walk in, you feel that you are at a fine dining restaurant. And although the food and service are also pretty good the plates we ordered this time didn't taste as great and definitely made the high price more prevalent. With that said, Chequers is still recommendable with a disclaimer that it is pricey and depending on what you order may not feel warranted."

  • " Our meal was very good. Our server was nice....did not seem to assess what was going on at our table. I had to ask for water and bread and he offered dessert to us and we were still finishing our meals. The lobster bisque was delicious, however the cellophaned pouch of crackers seemed a bit "diner like" for the caliber of restaurant. We are so glad that you are in East Cobb now......however I think the atmosphere and service were not "special enough" to get us back there soon."

  • "Chequers has one of the best buffet brunches around. The hostess greeted us by name and showed us to our table. Our server, Andrew, was exceptional, kept table cleared and drinks re-filled. Brantley, the manager, visited our table several times ensuring that the food and service were outstanding. Noise level was energetic. Wide variety of food on the buffet, cold boiled shrimp, omelet station, roast beef, desserts, something for everyone in our party. Outstanding service, great food and relaxed atmosphere, Brantley and team makes it happen."

  • "Service and food are always exceptional at Chequers. Managers create a lovely atmosphere to dine and servers have great customer service. They set a good pace and food is served at the ideal temperature. Dietary needs and wants are a priority and Brantley always has ideas to substitute ingredients so flavor is never sacrificed. Brunch has a variety of food from salads and fruits to an omelet and carving station, along with chicken, fish, vegetables and breakfast items. Bagels and their famous biscuits along with smoked salmon. cheese blintzes and a dessert assortment make it easy to see why we never tire of this brunch. The welcoming atmosphere provides those of us in East Cobb with a memorable dining experience each week."

  • "This was our first visit since Chequers moved from Perimeter area. The very good - crab cakes, asparagus, scallops. Ahi Tuna very tender but was not really seared well. Lots of staff and they are attentive. The not so good - cold beans and potatoes, totally burnt our artichokes. A bit noisy to carry on a conversation. Hope they keep improving, but this time overall only "OK" especially given several of the items were not prepared well."

Only disappointment was that we had mentioned on our reservation request that it was our 43 wedding anniversary, and yet there was no acknowledgement from the restaurant of that event.   • "Loved the restaurant in Dunwoody, so glad they moved to E Cobb. Asked for Scallops to be cooked to medium, 1/2 over cooked. They brought out 2 more cooked perfect! The other entree they forgot the potatoes on the dish. Told server when she came by, but we were already done with the meal. Her comment; oh, Do you want an order of potatoes to-go? (no) Kitchen needs help checking orders before serving to guest. Favor in food was great."

If I want a waffle or omelet with bacon or sausage, it is necessary to walk the length of the restaurant to have the 2. The room where the eggs, grits, shrimp, etc are located seemed large enough that it could accommodate all the offerings."

  • "Chequers continues to have the same lovely brunch they had in Dunwoody. Food and service are always great and you are always treated as a valued guest. There is a nice assortment of food and many people go every week. Brantley and Victoria, the managers, run everything smoothly. Food is always fresh and replenished. The carving station is always a hit as well as made to order eggs. Fruits and vegetables along with chicken and fish, as well as breakfast items, cheese blintzes and desserts keep people coming back."

  • "Service, mixed drinks and ambience were very good. The lobster rolls were excellent. No steamers but the mussels were good. The Kansas City Strip steak was disappointing though. It lacked flavor and was 'well done' when I ordered 'medium rare'. We waited about 30 minutes for our steaks which might explain why it was overcooked. For the price at $38.00 apiece I was stunned at how mediocre mine was, although I finished it. We spent over $200 including the tip for three people and the steaks did not compare with the steaks I can grill at home for 1/4th the price. A good marinade would have helped. There are many very good things about this restaurant, but for the price, I doubt we'll be back unless one of us is dying for a lobster roll."

The scallops were perfect, as were our sides, dessert was to die for and the dirty martinis with the blue cheese stuffed olives were a great way to start the evening! We will definitely go back!"

  • "Most of the food was delicious! Try the lobster mac 'n cheese, crab cakes, asparagus & stay away from the artichokes! The noise level from 8:00 to 9:30 was so loud that our table of four barely spoke until 9:30. Not the place to carry on any type of conversation...if you want to actually hear each other. The server was polite but inexperienced."
