  • "Restaurant was not adequately prepared for rush of Mother's Day crowd. Was told they ran out of most popular dessert only to find out they had portioned number to desserts between lunch and dinner service."

  • "Ordered wine by the glass, took over 15 mins to return, including 12 mins of the server being "absent" only to come back to blame delay on the bar. Wanted the Seafood Platter sized for 2-3 people; server "didn't know" how big it was. To avoid another wait we ordered anyway. It had exactly 2 king grab legs (sawed in half lengthwise), 2 lobster claws, 8 oysters, 6 shrimp; all bland! We expected much much more for $55. Ordered a fish entree as soon as platter arrived, fish was grilled nicely and the side was very well done also. Dessert was really tasty but that's no surprise or accomplishment. Server was friendly when around, but was simply "absent" in long periods throughout visit. I would warn about our experience but might try again."

  • "Bernadette was great. She made our dining experience very enjoyable. Love that Chequers has moved closer in East Cobb. Pretzel crusted trout - the crust had large pieces of pretzel which made it a little dry to the taste when chewing. Lobster rolls - too much mayo. Overall thought everything was good."

  • "roast beef on the carving table was excellent. Chequer's always has a large variety of food offerings, both breakfast and lunch foods. Our server, Fernanda, was very attentive. She kept our drinks fresh and removed used plates. Very friendly and attentive. Brantley, the manager, also visited our table to insure that we found everything and that there were no issues. The food, service and atmosphere are always outstanding at Chequer's."

  • "Went to this place for the first time Saturday. Found the interior to be extremely dark and not very inviting. Food was good, service too. but could use a interior redesign. It is located in a former Houlihan's and it feels like I was still in the old restaurant."

  • "The restaurant was nice and the food was very good. The problem is it is soooo cold in there and if you are not a very fast eater your food is ice cold before you are one third of the way finished. I have experienced this at several restaurants and I think it hurts their good cooking. I do not enjoy freezing while I am eating or eating cold food. I had food left over and offered it to my brother but he wouldn't eat it because it was cold (same with my nephew). I know they have to keep the kitchen cold but it is really getting to be ridiculous out in the eating area. I had on long sleeves, long pants, a sweater over that and was VERY sorry I wore sandals!!!"

  • "Even though Christopher took very good care of us, we were disappointed with our dinner. When Chequers was at the Perimeter, it was one of our favorite spots. Our dinner consisted of the grouper (really nothing special), the grilled artichoke (leaves were hardly edible), and a very bland slaw. How could things have changed with the food quality in the move to East Cobb? The decor, though, is lovely and sophisicated."

My friend and I used to alternate restaurants since we live and work on opposite sides of town but since the move we've made Chequers our once a month meeting place. The food is always good even when they get away from their seafood specialities."

  • "The new East Cobb Chequers Restaurant was our choice to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We were surprised by the crowd as well as the ambiance on a Thursday evening. The noise level was energetic. We were seated quickly and cheerfully greeted by our server. Chequers menu has many fine offerings, with an above average wine list. However, we found both somewhat expensive. The calamari appetizer was delicious, as was the plank salmon entrees we both chose. However, we were disappointed when our entrees came, no one had appeared to clean off the numerous bread and appetizer plates which crowded our small table. An awkward situation. Our complimentary anniversary dessert put a fitting end to an awesome evening."

  • "Hearing of the move of Chequers to East Cobb, we made an online reservation for our party of 6. A busy night but our table was ready and we were greeted by proprietor Brantley Smith in the familiar Tiffany-lamp Craftsman style interior. The wine selection was broad and we found a favorite which paired well with the Shared Sampler, ample for 6-8 diners. For entrees, we chose 4 steak, 2 salmon dishes. Our server Sophie pointed out the Alaskan sockeye-only available through this season. One of the best we've ever had along with each side--from Yukon Gold potatoes to fine green beans, perfectly cooked, large portions. Head server, Tony, checked on our table and sent dessert--handcrafted sorbet and Chocolate Velvet Cake. Perfection."

  • "We have been loyal patrons of Chequers in the Perimeter Mall area for more than 23 years and greatly anticipated the relocation of the restaurant to E. Cobb, which is even closer to our home than the previous spot. If you have never been to Chequers, you will be amazed at the wonderful food and professional waitstaff you will encounter there. If you are previous patrons of Chequers, you will be in awe of the huge and beautiful new bar, and overall rich-looking "clubby" look of the new site. No question that the new property is drop dead gorgeous, but the food, drinks and service will have you coming back time and again. Congratulations on a wonderfully successful relocation, Chequers!"

  • "We went on Father's Day, giving the restaurant a second chance. The service was excellent. Perfect, in fact. We did not escape though without problems. Our son was brought the wrong order from the kitchen. Turns out they just grabbed the wrong dish. But during this time, I guess under the heat lamp, the steak he order was delivered well instead of rare and we sent it back. The third time the steak came out it was perfect. We were comp'd free deserts again. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We ordered the sampler appetizer and that was great. Steaks were good. The Lobster salad was great with lots of Lobster. I ordered the SHELLFISH BOUILLABAISSE and did not care for it. The sauce was not to my liking."

  • "After reading multiple mixed reviews we were skeptical about what we would find. The service was fantastic and on point and the food really fresh and fabulous. It is on the more expensive side (about $40-$50 a person with everything) but well worth the price. We came with a party of six and had scallops, shrimp, crab cakes & the trout and we let everyone sample, all was great. The mashed potatoes were an added bonus. Our waitress was kind, quick and easy to adjust anything we needed. Would highly recommend. And we are thrilled to have a great steakhouse/seafood spot preventing us from driving to dunwoody all the time."

The service was outstanding though, and that goes a long way. They get lots of points for being close to home, and with so few choices in East Cobb, this place will probably do very well."

  • "Chequers was our favorite restaurant in Atlanta when they were located in the Perimeter so we were very excited to learn they were moving to East Cobb. The food (as always) was delicious, the service was even better than before. The only negative was they appear to have kept the tables from the previous restaurant. I'd recommend they put either paper or cloth table coverings on them. Other than that, we had a wonderful dining experience."

  • "We had a nice meal but nothing really special. Enjoyed the scallops and appreciated that they had a Gluten Free menu. On Sunday evening it was great to have ½ price on bottles of wine. Unfortunately our waiter chipped our Far Niente Chardonnay bottle and they didn’t have another one. We found another wine but he did give us a complimentary crème brulee."

  • "I have been dining at Chequers for several years and loved the Dunwoody location and staff. This was my first visit at the new East Cobb location. The host staff was not ready for the Father's Day crowd. A few of us arrived 5 mins before opening and patiently waited near the host stand. A crowd of people walked in right at 4 and the host sat them all first. Customer service one on one is to be attentive. How do you take 15 minutes to prepare biscuits at the start of dinner? This is one of Chequers signatures. Ok now that I am done ranting the food and the wait staff was superb!"

  • "I live near the new location so was happy to hear of another quality restaurant coming to East Cobb. I had been several times to this restaurant at their previous location at Perimeter. Overall the food was pretty good - my crusted tuna was really outstanding but the crab cake (one of their historic specialties) and other entrees were so-so, and not up to the quality of the old location. One thing they definitely need to work on is the service staff. Maybe a combo of the new location / staff and my visit being on a Monday (often an off day for the best waitstaff) but the service was slow and erratic. A couple servers were flying around trying to overcome while a half dozen staff were chatting at the reception area. Worth another visit"
