Chelsea's Chowder HouseUnique location on Queen MaryNice lunch experience for my daughters birthday who loves the Queen Mary Ship. Service was excellent.
Bar drinks were very tasty, fresh salmon was excellent, cheesburger was very good, but the seafood combination was disappointing.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Dinner at a Great LocationWe went for a dinner with a group of 8, including out of town guests. The location was great (aboard Queen Mary, with a wonderful view of Long Beach downtown across the water). The food and service were both very good, but nothing exceptional. Considering it was Friday evening, the noise level was quite moderate. Definitely would go there again, especially to entertain out of town guests at a memorable location.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDining Experience with Great ViewBrought my wife and daughter on Mother's Day and I was glad I did. My wife was happy that I made my reservation at Chelsea and not to the buffet place. The place was quiet and we were able to enjoy the nice view overlooking the window. We ordered Tuna Poke for appetizer and it was so delicioso! The seafood we ordered were all good. My daughter loved the yukon mashed potato. She said, it was the best she ever tasted. This is definitely a place to enjoy the food, the view and good company.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice TreatEating at Chelseas Chowder House and Bar was an enjoyable treat for the family - a historic location and very good food combined with excellent service by Robert. the wine list was a bit of a miss with an excellent New Zealand white wine listed as Napa Valley and an on-going purge of the wine list limiting choices. It was also a bit of a turn-off to be greeted at the elevator to get on the Queen Mary and beiong asked for a $15 dinner voucher despite having made reservations for dinner - not a great first impression. it was nice to be able to walk the meal off a little with a stroll around a historic landmark.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently great!First time back after about a fifteen year break and I was thrilled to find the food just as fresh and flavorful as it always was in the past. I was not quite as thrilled with the remodeling job that was apparently done a couple of years ago--while the air conditioning was a much appreciated addition, the loss of the beautiful wood veneers in exchange for white tile had the unfortunate effect of making the restaurant look like an upscale shower room. The wait staff was friendly and efficient and informative about the harbor area view outside the windows. I was glad I had read a Yelp review before I came in that noted the lack of bread and butter that is automatic in most restaurants, but our waiter quickly brought us a very nice basketful.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, casual ambvianceOur family (7 of us) had a dinner at 8pm after postponing our reservation twice with ease. It was a welcome casual option that still provided a special location on the world famous Queen Mary. The decor and ambiance was casual and nearly impossible to not have a view. My Fried Seafood Platter entrée was excellent and I sampled a few of the dishes including a delicious shrimp pasta dish, the calamari and rock shrimp appetizer along with a spinach dip and a taste of their generous (3) crab cakes that are prepared with bread that is about halfway between a slider and a hamburger bun. Service was good, not great, somewhat absentee but not miserably so. Several couples were having a romantic evening without having to get all dressed up.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect startThe perfect start to our honeymoon. Amazing food, quiet and romantic.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is located inside theThis is located inside the Queen Mary on the 4th floor. Service was great and so as the food. I had the Surf & Turf while my wife had the Crab-cake sliders. Tuna tartar was "ok" not sure if the fished used was "fresh-fresh" its was a bit gooey. But other than that I would give the a 95% overall.
Make sure to get your parking stub validated ($10 off) = $5 due upon exiting the lot4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMost EnjoyableAll in all, a very enjoyable experience. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Not much in the way of ambiance, but pleasant. The food was very good for the price, and cooked exactly to our request. The view was lovely and did make us feel like we were actually on a cruise.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT food GREAT service GREAT viewHad a GREAT time at Chelsea's and would definitely recommend it. Fabulous food, beyond attentive service, and a breathtaking view of the harbor. Our server (Derek) provided a gracious welcome, superb care, and made our special night quite memorable. Not only was he knowledgeable of everything on the menu and wine list, he also anticipated our needs somehow, magically knowing exactly what I wanted for an after dinner drink when I clearly couldn't think of it myself. I appreciated his intuitiveness immensely. I can't thank you enough for the incredible experience we had. Derek is a gem!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took our friends who haveWe took our friends who have never been to the queen Mary hotel so this was their first time there. Chelsea's food was good and view but they stuck us back in a corner so was hard to see it. I was hoping for a table by the window. Too casual for us though. We were dressed up but the only people there that way. Lots of kids and very casual attire. Food and service were great though!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPrompt and attentive service.Prompt and attentive service. I drink water with my meal and there was a bottle of cold water on the table and the server kept my glass full.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCEPTIONAL FOOD AND SERVICESometimes you don't know what to expect from a tourist-type destination restaurant. Chelsea Chowder House's is superb!! The Pomme Frites had just the right amount of truffle oil, parmesan and parsley. The catfish was tender and the hush puppies sweet and light. Nothing was over-fried and the portions were very generous! The wine list was also excellent featuring a good selection of wines from California and around the world. Our waiter, Luis, and Simon, the Maitre-D, provided exemplary and attentive service. I have already recommended this restaurant to several of my friends!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was fantastic theEverything was fantastic the food ,service, and ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant. My only complaint is I wasn't informed about the dining vouchers to enter the ship, so pick them up at the ticket booth and you get reimbursed on the bill.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing fish and chips!I had heard that the food wasn't so great a few years ago. I went with a couple who hadn't really enjoyed their rustic 'fish and chips' and had stopped going. Well they were truly shocked this week when we went and ordered the same dish some years later. Taking a look around all the food looked excellent and well displayed. This has probably become my personal favorite for fish and chips now.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit pricey (dinner menu)A bit pricey (dinner menu) but if you split the shrimp scampi, which is exceptional, it is more than enough for two at a cost of $28 ($14 each). We started with the clam chowder which was excellent - highly recommended.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
