  • "Many choices on the menu (and on tap as well!!) Not your usual bar-fare. Fantastic burgers, and lots of other great choices on the menu. I can't wait to go back and try some more menu items."

  • "Nice place to relax and have a fine meal in a casual or dressed environment. With the World Cafe down the street, great for before or after show eats. The Grand across from it adds a touch of class if seeing a show there. All in all a fine place for food and drinks."

  • "Surprisingly good food and great service at this local spot across the street from the Grand Opera House."

  • "Chelsea Tavern is a terrific spot for Sunday brunch. Market Street, which is bustling and noisy during the week, is serene and lovely on a Sunday morning. We ate outside and enjoyed a well-prepared and tasty brunch with the splendid Grand Opera House as a backdrop. Our party liked that the brunch combined both breakfast and lunch items. My only complaint was that the mimosa, served in a small flute, was not much to drink."

  • "My husband and I both had the pulled pork sandwich, our friends had the pork belly tacos and the soft shell crab salad special. Everybody enjoyed their food. Especially the trio fries. We also really enjoyed the beer list. My friend and I each had the beer flight special. Service was pleasant."

  • "We went with children ages. 7 years. There was a great menu for us as well as them. Services was great. "

  • "We had a really good experience. Service was great. I loved a sandwich called The Dirty. It's one of those everything but the kitchen sink types, but it worked! Will definitely be back."

  • "Picked Chelsea for Mother's Day lunch. Met our expectations all around and we'll be back. Kids and Mom loved it! "

  • "Booking the reservation the staff was friendly and gave us a time so that our group was done before the concert we had tickets to attend. Our group only had 4 people but we were pleased with all our food and the staff allowed a swap on the salad to accomodate a food allergy. The restaurant was buzzing with lots of friendly conversations but not noisy. We could still talk to each other."

  • "I had heard good things about the food here, and am sorry to report that the food was mediocre - crabcake sandwich not made w/lump crab which is the standard in this area. Even the fries were bad - greasy and mixed with onions and sweet potato fries - I got whatever was left at the bottom of the fryer. My friend said the ceasar salad was okay - overly dressed, but the chicken was tender. The tomato soup was okay but not great. Too bad."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Chelsea Tavern! Lots of choices on the menu...So many draft beers it was hard to pick just one. One of us had a black & white martini. YUM!! Our waiter, Dan, took very good care of us. Food was very good. Loved the fried pickles! We will absolutely be back! "

  • "My dining partner and I agreed that although we enjoy this restaurant, the lunch menu does not appear to have changed in a few years and could use some new selections from which to choose."

  • "This is a great place to go before a show. They have good food great service. Check in with the foursquare app to get a great deal!"

  • "My Mother and I went before a show at the Grand. Dinner was wonderful and timely. They have great beer choices. The Beer menu seperates the beers by style. This is very helpful. I would recommend to try before a show at the Grand, the reataurant is across the street."

  • "Service was great! The calamari was delicious. We ordered the pear salad and the caprese salad, which were decadent."

  • "Although they are known for their various beers we do not drink beer, the wine list could be a bit more extensive, but what I had I enjoyed. We were there for lunch."

  • "I loved the food and the fact that your vegetarian entree special was so fantastic, as was you pizza. Beer selection was good as well"

  • "Located directly across from Wilmington's Grand Opera House, and just a couple of blocks from World Cafe Live, Chelsea is a nice spot to dine pre-show. The food is solid, a step above tavern fare without really entering the fine dining category. Service was very good, with our waitress taking extra care of a problem we created, and checking with us at all the right times. Reservations required on show nights, but if you go after the start time there will be room for walk-ups."

  • "We made a reservation online the day before, which was very easy. When we realized that we were going to be late, we called the restaurant and they changed the time - no problem. The menu was perfect, the food was excellent, portions were generous and the service was great! I can't leave out their convenient hours. That may have been my first visit, but it won't be my last!"

  • "Excellent food and service every time I've been in town on business."

  • "Are you going to a show at the Grand? Come 2 hours early and go across the street to Chelsea Tavern! Make a reservation, the place is very crowed on show night. They have one of the best beer selection, if not the best, in Wilmington. Food is pretty good, pizza is good, and did I mention the craft beer selection!"

  • "Terrible!! Had a reservation for two at 8 pm on a Friday. Was the only couple there, and did not get greeted by anyone for 10 min. So we decided to leave; staff observed us leave and didn't acknowledge the fact there was something wrong. Worst place I have been in awhile. Just go in for a beer and leave, is they type of place that is."

  • "Food was good & waitress accommodating. But were unhappy with the treatment received from the bartender who was serving as the host. We made reservations for dinner & upon arrival asked if we could sit at a booth but were told the boothes were for parties of 4 & we were 2 & were seated in the basement. We were unhappy & asked if could be moved upstairs. The host asked why we didn't like the basement. I told him it was dark & we wanted to be upstairs where we could see the daylight. He said he would see what he could do to move us. After several minutes, he moved us upstairs to a small table. During the time we dined, all the boothes except one had only two people seated at them. Terrible way to treat customers who pay $100 for dinner."

  • "Had the opportunity to eat/drink at the Chelsea Tavern before a concert at the Wilmington Opera House which is conveniently right across the street. Reading comments before I went I felt self assured that even when there is an event the service is great. I must disagree. Bar service took a long time as well as food service. Waiter offered little to no assistance when asked about Beer recommendations or food recommendations. Seem like he had to hurry to the next table. However, I have nothing but great things to say about the restaurant and food itself. When you have to ask the Manager to get a drink refill is pretty sad."

  • "If you have tickets for the Grand Theatre in Wilmington, you can't beat the convenience of dining right across the street! The server was pleasant and efficient and I enjoyed my pizza. It's that simple -- it's a very unpretentious place and doesn't try to be something it's not. If you want some elegance and glitz, definitely go elsewhere! But, back to my pizza -- I had the cheesesteak pizza (serving is enough for two), and it was very tasty! I would order it again. I didn't try anyone else's dinner, so I can't judge the rest of the food. It's fine for a very casual night out, is reasonably priced, and after you are done you just cross the street and there's the Grand Opera House theatre."

  • "Great spot for a meal prior to an evening at the Grand. Everyone has the same idea and wants to dine and get out prior to the show. The menu and the kitchen work together to make it happen. Our server was absolutely on the ball. She had a full house to deal with and she never missed a beat. Food was very good, calamari, fish and chips, salads wings and drinks were all good, prices are about average. Very loud hen we were seated. As the crowd went from packed towards show time the level deminished to quite. A busy spot before the show. If your in Wilmington at night give it a try. If your going to a show, it is an excellent choice."

  • "They have fun, modern food and the beer offerings are many. The booth we sat in was tight though. That was the only down side of our visit. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. They were fast too."

  • "Service and food were fabulous. Kate made us feel comfortable even though our reservations were not taken seriously. Mostly the Chelsea has the perfect combinations to entertain in preparation for a nice show at the Grand...We had a very nice time and would recommend the Chelsea for anyone at anytime."

  • "Was looking for something different from the usual suburban fare and this met the mark perfectly. We were a group of four, were seated quickly, had an engaging server and great food. I had a shrimp salad-- had great flavor. I found myself thinking about it a couple of times the following day. Would definitely go back next time in Wilmington."

  • "We chose Chelsea Tavern because it is right across the street from the Grand where we were going to see a show. The food was wonderful and our waiter, Daniel, was amazing!!! I can't wait to go back and would recommend this place to anyone. We had a wonderful meal, our drinks were great, and Daniel made sure we were out of there in time for the show."

  • "Directly across from the Opera House and never having been to Wilmington we were very happy with our experience! Kate our waitress was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious, the beers were fun. Would happily return. It was rather loud but this was the kind of venue one would expect that from."

  • "This place has great food. We were going to an event at the Grand, as were most people there, so it was pretty much slammed. We happened to be there on a Wednesday, which is half price wine night. We ordered a Pinot Noir. We mentioned to our server that if there was a Russian River product we would not be having trouble making a decision. We tried two wines before trying one that my husband deemed acceptable. When it was delivered, we discovered that it was cold!!! A red wine cold? I cradled it in my hands until it was a proper temperature, and it was great. We then saw on the bottle that it was Russian River."

  • "We weren't familiar with Chelsea Tavern but chose it because of its convenience to the Grand. The menu included several tempting entrees. The fixed price menu offered a real value, although we did not take advantage of it. The tables for 2 are VERY close together, which could have been uncomfortable. Service was outstanding and our waiter had a way of appearing just as we were in need of his help. The courses were served at a good pace. My peppercorn crusted ahi tuna was delicious, prepared rare, as ordered. The sides were well-chosen and received as much attention from the chef as the entree. Amazing selection of wines and beer. The menu included a vegetarian selection that appeared to be gluten free, if this is a consideration for diners."

  • "We chose the Chelsea because we were going to the Grand for a show. It is right across the street so we knew we could relax and get to our show on time. Our waiter asked if we were going and was conscious of our timing and bringing us the bill. The food was delicious and the restaurant and bar were full. They have a great beer selection too."
