Chef MavroNever miss this restaurant! This is truly a Hawaiian gem. Chef Mavro is a genuine Chet's Chef. We come here on every trip to the islands.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing wine paringsWe had last eaten at Chef Mavro's six years ago, on our last visit to Honolulu. We remembered it frequently as one of our best ever dining experiences, and it did not disappoint years later. In fact, the wine pairing were even more creative and surprising than I remembered.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful anniversary celebrationThe ambience and service was extraordinary. A quiet corner in a busy city where one could comfortably talk and be heard. Food was artistically prepared and served with an appropriate description. The accompanying wines enhanced the experience. The six course menu was outstanding but there was too great a contrast in quality and taste to the first two offerings of the 4 course menu. We substituted a few items so experienced the difference. An excellent place for a special occasion enhanced by a welcoming and attentive staff.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive with great flavorsIt was nice to sit down and relax to such a special meal. The Wagyu beef was meltingly superb with rich flavors--great beef! The entire menu was exceptionally inventive with amazing multi-layered flavors (we loved the Ahi paired with the sparkling saki and torchon with the ling hing peach!!). We had a romantic evening and enjoyed the evening....the service was helpful, but we were able to relax!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDining here is always a treatDining here is always a treat for your palate. The wine pairings are exceptionally good.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and the wineOutstanding food and the wine pairings were sublime. Lovely location and great service. 5 stars.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service!Exceptional services! As soon as we arrived we were greeted at the parking lot and walked to the restaurant with the host. Servers were courteous and attentive, and every dishes was explained to us clearly.
Creative dishes. Each dish is either made with ingredients that are usually not found in french cuisine or with the usual ingredients that are combined in ways that you would not have dreamt of, making them all pleasantly fun to taste and delicious.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice restaurant with goodNice restaurant with good atmosphere, great service and creative food. Most of the food, however, was not terribly flavorful. There was more emphasis on presentation than flavor. Wine pairing was quite good with a couple of wines we had never had before. Overall it is grossly overpriced for the entire package.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievable food and wineUnbelievable food and wine pairings, appetizer was one of the best ever (basmati rice, raw ahi topped with uni sauce and uni). Great service but felt stuffy and almost trapped in there.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDid the wine pairing on thisDid the wine pairing on this visit. Wow, so much wine, could not keep up! Had as many as 3 glasses of wine stacked up at one point, perhaps a few less ounces per course would be more manageable (and this is coming from someone who drinks!).
Service and food were top notch as always.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMnew spring vegetarian menu a winnerOnce again an amazing dinner! The new spring vegetarian menu was delicious and offered a variety of flavors throughout the dishes that kept the meal interesting. My sister enjoyed all the seafood options as well as the lamb and couldn't decide which was her favorite dish, each one better then the last. The wine pairings complimented the food perfectly.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is art here. And itFood is art here. And it tastes even better than it looks. Wonderful wine pairings. Exquisite dining experience!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful wine pairing!A wonderful place for a wine pairing dinner. We went there to enjoy new spring menu. My favorite dish was the onaga with beautiful mosaic ratatouille, which was well complemented by a rose from Casis, France where we visited last year. (We drove by this winery, I think!)
Although we are not wine connoisseur, we enjoy and encounter a lots of new wine to us with reasonable price. I definitely will come back to try all wines they feature for this spring menu.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTop flight dining experienceA truly wonderful meal with a group of friends and family (both local and from the mainland). Service was impeccable, pacing perfect, each course tastier than the one before! Only problem is that after sampling the "truffles menu" 14 year old has decided he loves fresh truffles, which could be an expensive taste... We had a great time and the food was phenomenal.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the Best!!Simply the best! Another outstanding culinary experience that shouldn't be missed!!
From the warm welcome, to the superb service and the cuisine just divine. Everyone
should have the opportunity to experience Chef Marvo's creations.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Mavro should be on yourChef Mavro should be on your must-dine list of restaurants! The food was almost too beautiful to eat but absolutely delicious. The service was top notch. Well done, Chef Mavro!3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous dinner! The abaloneFabulous dinner! The abalone was perhaps the favorite dish--fresh flavors, hearts of palm, corn, yuzu, and perfect balance/beautiful presentation. The fresh catch ratatouille with the kanten was beautiful and so delicious...plate was scraped (not really appropriate?) clean to capture every flavor. The lamb was rave-worthy and the chestnut puree and guinea fowl was a delightful savory surprise. Exceeded expectations.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Most Wonderful Dinning ExperienceMost impressive restaurant we have been to!! If I had one meal left on the planet this is it. Perfection, perfection, perfection is the meal, service, taste, presentation. In all of our years we have been going to Chef Mavro, alwaya, always excellent. A most wonderful experience that everyone should have the pleasure of at least once.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Chef Mavro forWe went to Chef Mavro for Valentine's Day dinner at the beginning of a three week trip to Hawaii, The dinner was a prix fixe of several courses paired with wines. The food was innovative, very well prepared and delicious. The wine choices were excellent and the service was superb. The experience was very expensive, but worth every dollar.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in Honolulu for sure,The best in Honolulu for sure, and one of the best in the US.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA culinary gem in Honolulu.Superb restaurant (some may find pretentious) & a fine dining experience in Hawaii. Food is simply brilliant - we enjoyed the 6 course degustation with accompanying premium wines. They use local ingredients predominantly which is to be commended and encouraged. Standout dishes for us were the Lobster & the Guinea Fowl. Serving sizes were perfect - quality vs quantity. Decor is elegant enough & booth seating more than comfortable. A friend joined us with special dietary requirements & they were more than happy to accommodate providing great substitutes. Although no wine list we were comfortable with pairings & typically do degustation with pairings. Great night out to switch it up from typical fare in Honolulu. Note, little bit out of the way11/18/2012 12:00:00 AM
