I chose Chef Geoff's based on the menu, even though I had never been there. We had a party of 9 and had a great lunch! The food was awesome and our server, Leonora was exceptional. She brought out a complementary glass of champagne for my son, was knowledgable about the menu, and provided prompt personal service to our table. We had 2 children (12 and 9 years) in our party and they loved the food, especially their desserts! Sunset special is a good deal - 3 courses for 19.95 4pm to 6.30 pm. Excellent salads. The mussels had a tasty broth but were overcooked. The chicken with curry sauce was also a bit overcooked and the sauce a bit too sweet for my taste, although my companion enjoyed it. The turtle cheesecake was tasty, but the pecans too salty. The pineapple upside down cake was fine, outshone, though, by the lemongrass ice cream. Basically, the balance was off.

We were a party of 10, and the servers were very friendly and on time. The location is nice, and we enjoyed the large windows overlooking a patio. Service is impeccable and the servers are helpful and knowledgeable. At times, it can get fairly noisy, which is not a plus for me, but the restaurant is near American University, and the bar scene can be raucous. That is not always the case, but it is annoying when it gets loud. I do not drink, so cannot comment on the "bar scene." Also, I am older, and not into that scene, but the younger group seems to enjoy it. The food, the food was scrumptious! I ordered chicken and waffles with apple compote. My sister got the Brie French Toast. As usual, we split the two and shared. I was in love with both dishes. Sweet and savory get me every time. They also have a special where you can get any entree with mimosa or juice for only $21.95, that's a major deal.
