  • "My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. We hadn't been to Tim Shafer's (now Chef Fredy's Table) in a few years. We will not make that mistake again. The service was impeccable. The food delicious. My husband had the mixed grill and I had the sea bass special. Both amazing. The prices are on the high side, but definitely not eye popping for the quality and preparation. Another plus - it is a BYO."

  • "We went here for my husband and sons birthdays. I am a vegetarian and as per usual there was no vegetarian entree on the menu. I had a good salad to start the iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing (no bacon) and wild mushroom ravioli app as my entree. My DH had tuna which he said was good. My son's girlfriend had the St. Peter 's fish and my son had one of the specials. Everyone said their food was good. My son was was nicely comped a dessert for his Birthday. The decor is a bit dated but overall a nice meal."

  • "We always count on this restaurant for a great dining experience. I am glad to say that Chef Freddy and the staff have even improved on this experience with their new menu. We never hesitate to bring individuals important to us there, as we did last Saturday night. My wife had a fantastic Monk Fish special and they accommodated me with my favorite Tim Schaffer original, Short Ribs (not on the new menu). The service was particularly attentive, elegant and on par with that found in Europe or in fine dining establishments in NYC. Chef Freddy himself visited the patrons to make sure everyone was satisfied. That's very rare these days. If you want a friendly superior dining experience and good value, don't hesitate to visit with Chef Freddy."

  • "I knew Tim and enjoyed his restaurant but it has been Fredy's and Nestor's for a long time and the name change shouldn't discourage anyone from coming. The best decision we made was about 18 months ago when we decided that we should stop coming here just for special occasions and just eat with Fredy and Nestor more often- we're never disappointed. A great seafood meal just before July 4th ; starting off with salads ( the blue cheese wedge was perfect) and then red snapper and soft shell crabs and shared a chocolate- peanut butter tart. Dining here is truly a consistent pleasure"

  • "I'd heard so many good things about this restaurant, and was excited to be there. It seems they have the infrastructure down for great food, but sadly don't deliver it consistently. The service made us feel well-tended, though the waiter really should write down orders if he needs to come back two times to ask again what we ordered. The appetizers were astonishing. The entrees were tender and completely bland. For both of us. How could this happen?? Only one of us ordered dessert, but they brought dessert for two, which was very sweet of them. Dessert was very good, but not mindblowing. In order to command the prices on their menu, they really should step up their game."

  • "went to 5 restaurants during restaurant wk. in Mo-town. amazing how restaurants either don't really care or think little of the service their staff give to the dining experience but Tim shafer's attn is first class. I'm not discriminatory but all wait staff are men, they don't clutter your table with all the utensils but change them out with each course even if you didn't use them. you fine diners know what I'm talking about. I'm not snooty but there are many places where I'm never sure if I should keep utensils aside or place on plate. food was tasty and well prepared. will definitely return."

  • "We had16 for Easter at 5 pm. We were seated promptly. The head waiter was a little gruff and headstrong but all the other support staff were competent and extremely observant. We had a variety of appetizers, main dishes and deserts. Everything met what everyone ordered to a tee. The food was impeccably prepared and presented. Everyone was extremely pleased with the afternoon."

  • "My husband and I snuck in a date night Saturday night and re-visited an old favorite. The food was still fabulous and the staff was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. There was one item on the menu that I was interested in but was afraid that it contained an ingredients to which I was allergic. The waiter went to confirm whether it contained the ingredients. Rather than ask me to choose another entree, Chef Freddy came out and made a few suggestions on how he could modify the dish to fit my restrictions. They all sounded delicious, and I truly appreciated their dedication to making the customer happy!!"

We were two couples and everyone loved what they ordered from appetizers to dessert. I usually eat fish when out to dinner, and the special was fantastic. Very fresh and flavorful. A very lovely meal, and we will be back soon!"

  • "The decor, service and food were so bad that I expected "kitchen nightmares" to be filming. We started with baked brie, the brie was war mush and didn't mix well with the cold fruit compote. For the entree we got the duck, pork chop, chicken and filet mignon. The duck was inedible and we sent it back (1st time ever done this but for $30...) everything else got "edible". For $30 an entree this is ridiculous. In summary, don't waste your money or time."

  • "I was really looking forward to my meal after having read the reviews . It starred out well since the staff is so knowledgable and friendly and the menu and specials seemed do inventive . However, they need to spend some money remodeling . Our table was lopsided and kept moving and our chairs were so old and uncomfortable i thought mine might break beneath me ( and I only weigh 120 lbs). Then as a final blow, my swordfish special entree was cold! Too bad, it probably would have been good if it had come on time from the kitchen. Will not go back."

Biggest issue is that given the name of the restaurant, thought it was still operated by the named chef. It is is not.....and thus some of the experience is different than I expected and the restaurant looks different than when it was operated by the named chef."

  • "Ate there on a Tuesday night, only one other table was occupied, ultra quiet - too quiet. Food was superb as was the service. This is BYOB, but the liquor store is literally next door, 5 feet away. The liquor store, by the way stores their nicer, pricier cabs high on a shelf and they felt a bit warm to the touch to me. The bottle we had tasted wonderful, but would prefer they had a little better temp control, or at a minimum keep their nicer wines lower on the display racks - could end up cooking a wine if it sat there a long while. Anyway, I recommend the restaurant!"

  • "Came for Valentine's Day - I liked that they didn't limit the menu at all, which is rare. Very good food, but you could tell it was heavy on butter. Good, not great service - had to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though our table was ready and there's not really a waiting area. BYOB with a liquor store next door, which is convenient and nice for the wallet."
