A word from Chazz: A Bronx Original
“Pizzas that have the perfect crust, the ideal char, the bubbles, and the good ingredients to compete with the BEST IN THE U.S.” --John Mariani of Esquire Magazine

The experienced restaurateurs behind Baltimore’s most celebrated Italian restaurant, the Vitale family of Aldo’s Ristorante Italiano, paired up with Oscar-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri to serve up homemade Italian-American classics like Veal Parmigiana, a famous Signature Veal Meatball, and specialties like hand-formed burrata mozzarella... all served alongside award-winning Bronx-style pizza, baked in a custom coal-fired oven that reaches up to 1,000 degrees. Everything is made fresh, in-house, daily: homemade fresh pasta, pizza, desserts… even fruit juice used to make handcrafted cocktails is fresh-squeezed twice daily. Featuring foods inspired by the Italian-American “neighborhood.” Guests can also enjoy wines from Southern Italy and vineyards beyond, homemade limoncello and craft beers on-tap.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I generally eat very healthy, organic, no preservatives. When I want to splurge I still want real food not processed items from a can or freezer bag. Chazz always delivers with its fresh pizza sauce and fine cheeses as well as their very own pasta made in house. With such quality ingredients even my cheats don't feel like a cheat. I enjoy my meal without feeling bad about it."

  • "Too noisy. Did NOT care for pizza which was our main reason for selecting this particular venue."

  • "Great food, including perhaps the best pizza in the country (so says Esquire magazine; I agree). Decor is a bit pedestrian, but one of my favorites in Baltimore."

  • "Food was average, wondered if the chicken dish actually had any chicken in it. Server was polite but we had to go find him everytime we had a need (refills, check)."

  • "Very friendly welcome, professional waitstaff, and well prepared food ... just a favorite place to go when in the Baltimore business district"

  • "NY style pizza was delicious - the bread that was brought out before the main course was flavorless and tasted a little stale though. The waitress was not very attentive or personable but we still tipped her well - figured she was having a rough night. Overall I would recommend dining here. If we come back and service is still bad - may not return."

  • "After waiting for about 15 minutes after we were seated, our waitress walked over, did not say hello or introduce herself, and just looked at us waiting for our order. It appeared that there was a discussion about whose table we were, and she brought her negative attitude to our table. Then we ordered drinks and appetizers. (2) of the (3) appetizers arrived before all of our drinks arrived, and then when the waitress did deliver the drinks, we were told that the clams were sold out and we wouldn't be getting our 3rd appetizer. I have never experienced anything like this and I'm a foodie who eats out often and at the best restaurants that we can find. The food was very good but the management has to get a grip on the customer service."

  • "Perfect pizza crust. Light and crispy. Perfect amount of sauce and cheese. My 12 year old pizza snob son Loved it . His comment "as good as John's no slices in New York.""

  • "Tuesday is $7 pizzas and $3 pints. Our waitress failed to indicate that it was only on selected pizzas and the flyer did not say so either. Just double check and find out what is included in their specials."

  • "We were a party of six celebrating a Girls' Night Out, so the noise level was perfect for us. I would reconsider if I was looking for a quieter dinner. We had a great booth in the restaurant and our food was great, just as we had ordered it."

  • "We have been wanting to try Chazz, so I picked it for my birthday! The food was delicious!! I got a shrimp far Diavlo that was the best I have had in a long time! They serve generous portions. Highly recommend. Next, I want to try the pizza!!!"

  • "My husband & I came here with another couple. The seating arrangements were tight. The service was great! The meatball in the gravy was delicious and the risotto balls. We also got the bruschetta which the appearance was pretty, the bread was a little hard. I think it needed more balsamic to soak in. We got a pepperoni pizza and a margarita pizza. Both were fabulous. I would go there again!"

  • "Neat concept. Restaurant has a large bar, a small room for intimate gatherings, a large dining room and a pizza and salami bar. The pizza bar allows you to see the coal fired oven working to make your pizza. Nice place. Loud on Saturday night."

  • "I went to Chazz with my husband this past weekend and it was a great choice! We both thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. The service was great, wine list varied, dinner and dessert - divine! The atmosphere was very energetic and classy. Our reservation was at 7 and there were several families with small children there. Perfect to go early. As the evening got later, it was much louder and busy. Definitely will return!"

  • "The pizza was a 10 on my list! I will definitely be back. The drinks could have been better though. We ordered sangrias which normally have fresh fruit but ours just had a 2 orange pieces and 2 peach pieces. I may be being overly critical since I will be back within the next 2 weeks."

  • "Went with several friends for a pre-show dinner. We made 5:30 reservations, but could have walked in without, the place was empty except for one table and a couple at the bar. The waitress made it over after 15 minutes, took our drink orders, came back several times to ask what we ordered. That was the hint for the rest of the meals dinner service. She was very nice, just very slow. The food was amazing! We ordered two cheese plate samplers and both were fantastic. Then we ordered two pizzas, a pepperoni for the non-adventurous and a smoked Gouda with mushroom and balsamic glaze for the second. Both were awesome. Fresh flavors, perfect charred crust. Very yummy. I would definitely recommend and go back for the food."

  • "Family of four scheduled impromptu evening out and found the experience to be everything one could ask for on a Saturday night for mom and dad and two teenagers, including a crowded, energetic ambience. Something exciting and interesting for everyone's varied tastes. Best pizza dough EVER!"

  • "One of the few places I have ever been that missed the ball...everywhere. Started with calamari...basic over cooked and clams casino...not so fresh and bland. The wife had a Caesar salad with less than exciting dressing, shavings of low quality parm and romaine which should have never made it out of the kitchen. I had what was possibly the lowest quality veal dish of my life. Stewed veal, a sauce tasting of too long at whatever holding temperature and what was subscribed on the menu as fingerling potatoes which were not. Add on a wine list that had no redeeming qualities. It really is a shame... The place looks great, the menu looks like it could be a winner, but the total lack of execution puts it on our list as a one and done."

  • "I love the food at Chazz, and I was excited about dinner after being away for more than a year. The food my friend and I ordered was phenomenal (Burrata & Prosciutto; Arancini; Pizza; Pasta), and we gobbled up most of it. We were seated between two large parties and while we could have dealt with that, I found myself competing with the loud music (which, though loud, was at least good). We were plagued with a very nice server, though it took him forty minutes and my friend's gentle reminder to bring her the Coke she requested at the start of the meal. Despite all of the shortcomings, the food is so good that it guarantees I will be back."

  • "The food was amazing but our experience was down played by the enormous wait till before and after being seated. We had reservations at 8:30 pm. We were not seated until 9:50 pm. I am surprise we waited that long for a table. Once you finally got to our table our server was very pleasant and attending, then sadly he was also given five more tables at one time besides us. I felt incredibly bad for him. He was not able to do his job properly and our table suffered. I also did not see other employees trying to remedy the seating situation that was occurring with not only us but many couples who choose this location to spend Valentine's Day. Very disappointing to say the least."

  • "We were a group of 7 with reservations for 6:45 on Saturday night. We arrived early so went to the bar for a couple of drinks. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the window-facing section of the bar--it was perfect for our group to be together but out of the way of wait staff and other diners. Our table for dinner was fine. Several of us ordered pizzas since they are the house specialty. The pizzas were so disappointing. The flavors were flat, needing seasoning. Also the crusts weren't crisp, were actually soggy. Sadly I won't be able to recommend this restaurant."

  • "The food was very good. There were two of us and we shared a pizza and a pasta. The pasta is fresh and homemade - it reminded me of my grandmother's in the Bronx - so right on target. The pizza was also very good. For a cheap date you could split a salad and a pizza. Good beers on tap. The seating for 2 was very tight throughout the restaurant. We were first seated in a spot that a table should not be. The person sitting at the other table almost hit my wife in the head with his arms when he was talking. I requested another table - which they gave us. This table was in the larger section but still very tight. There was nothing private about anyone's conversation. I would return - but only with four people to get a better table."

  • "My friend and I went for the last day of restaurant week (a Sunday). The decor was very nice as soon as you enter. For appetizers we got the crispy eggplant and the crab and asparagus soup and both were very tasty. For my entree I got the steak with blue cheese and onion, mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was all very good and cooked perfectly. My friend got a tilapia fillet resting on asparagus and surrounded by a chunky tomato sauce. It did not look very appetizing and the fish looked completely unseasoned. She said it tasted fishy and was incredibly dry and had to send it back. Her second entree of a seafood pasta dish was better but still very fishy in my opinion. Overall it was a good experience except for the bad entree."

  • "We went there before going to the Frankie Valli concert so we arrived and left early. At 6 in the evening it is a family oriented restaurant. My wife had salad and an appetizer that was quite large and delicious and I had a salad and veal parmesana. All were delicious."

  • "We had reservations, but still waited about 30 minutes for a table. The hostesses seemed disorganized, although friendly. Seating is cramped and the person next to us had to move her bags and coats so that I could sit down. We could hear conversations at the tables on either side of us. Waitress came promptly - she was very good. Food was delivered to our table that was not ours - then ours came about 15 minutes later. The food itself was great; fresh ingredients, excellent quality - the homemade pasta and sauce were outstanding. No bread on the table at any time -- this is an Italian restaurant??"

  • "Made a reservation for 8.15, showed up at 8.10 and I was told to wait at the bar with a buzzer to tell me when the table was ready. Was comped a couple a drinks be the only bright spot in the whole place, April. Did not get a table until 9.40 and that was only after bartender April called the hostess 5 times and went over personally to see what was happening. Ordered pizza and dinner. Wrong pizza came out, but we grabbed it before the waitress could take it away as we were two drinks in and really hungry. The pizza was nice, but not great. The Gorgonzola and Pear salad arrive 30 minutes later without Gorgonzola. The manager can to apologize but only made the situation worse by offering to comp dessert and not doing so!"

  • "A friend and I went here for Restaurant Week and were expecting possible slow service, loud noise and good to great food. We were pleasantly surprised with our service as it was very good...even though it was extremely busy. We did feel like the music could have been turned down a little because it was difficult to hear one another at time. The pizza was outstanding (although not on the prefix menu), the pasta primavera was very good and definitely housemade, the porkchop dish was nothing special, the crab and asparagus soup was divine, the eggplant appetizer was very tasty and the marinara is to die for. The desserts on the pre fixe menu were the flourless chocolate cake and the ricotta cheesecake and just average. Overall, very well done!"

  • "We were celebrating my son's birthday and it was our first time at the restaurant. We had a great time, the food was excellent and the service was very good. My son had the veal meatball appetizer . It was big enough to share with the table, but tasty enough that you wouldn't want to. I enjoyed the Carpaccio, but would try something else next time. For dinner, I had the Fettucine Panna and Speck. Everybody tried some of it and then I had to fight them off. The fresh pasta was so light and good. Everyone else had pizza and that is what I will order next time. The crust was perfect. My son enjoyed the complimentary birthday dessert with a candle, but (thankfully) no singing. Highly recommend this place."

  • "The pizza was burned at the bottom. The penne pasta with chicken was $18.95 and was overpriced. There was a guy cleaning the women's room the whole time we were there and I could not use the rest room."

  • "The food was delicious, and our server was wonderful. My only complaint is that the tables are too small and close together to dine comfortably. Servers were bumping our elbows as they walked by, and we didn't have enough room on our table for our entrees, drinks and a bread basket."

  • "Every time I've been to Chazz's, it's a wonderful mix of fine dining and a casual spot. It combines the two so well so that you can walk in dressed in heels and a dress/nice jeans or just sandals. I have yet to venture from their pizza menu because I want to try each one! From clams to eggs to potatoes, they add everythng to their pizza! Their cocktail menu is superb and fresh and their mozzerella bar is a must-try. The mozz is so soft it simply is divine! The service is outstanding, as well. After talking about them on Twitter ,they were kind enough to provide me a gift certificate to thank me. Amazingly engaging, friendly, and appreciative, this is my fave spot in Baltimore!"

  • "The restaurant was pretty large with several dining areas including a row in front of the coal pizza oven. It was also pretty loud and the music included new radio hits, not at all what I expected. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. However the food was hit and miss. Our appetizers were pretty tasty and the portion size was great for sharing - we had the Crab Imperial Portobella Mushroom and Risotto Balls. However the Americana pizza we ordered seemed like it wasn't cooked long enough and then sat too long before it was served. I would give this place another chance because the food served to other tables around us looked good but not when I'm looking for that authentic Italian experience."

  • "The coal fired pizza was amazing! Perfect crust - Soft, fluffy yet firm and charred to perfection. We tried potato pizza, which tasted amazingly well. The cheese appetizers were great as well. Very limited options for vegetarians though. Vegans can simply skip this place."
