A word from Chazz: A Bronx Original
“Pizzas that have the perfect crust, the ideal char, the bubbles, and the good ingredients to compete with the BEST IN THE U.S.” --John Mariani of Esquire Magazine

The experienced restaurateurs behind Baltimore’s most celebrated Italian restaurant, the Vitale family of Aldo’s Ristorante Italiano, paired up with Oscar-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri to serve up homemade Italian-American classics like Veal Parmigiana, a famous Signature Veal Meatball, and specialties like hand-formed burrata mozzarella... all served alongside award-winning Bronx-style pizza, baked in a custom coal-fired oven that reaches up to 1,000 degrees. Everything is made fresh, in-house, daily: homemade fresh pasta, pizza, desserts… even fruit juice used to make handcrafted cocktails is fresh-squeezed twice daily. Featuring foods inspired by the Italian-American “neighborhood.” Guests can also enjoy wines from Southern Italy and vineyards beyond, homemade limoncello and craft beers on-tap.

The pizza was top notch, as was the chicken parm. Bread was great! Reasonable prices, too. Only issue was the odd techno music mixed with Classic Sinatra era music. Made it hard to get into the classic NTC vibe.

We love this place! Steak and Egg pizza for brunch is to die for, as Is the peach sangria. The clam pizza for dinner is spicy and so light I can finish the whole pie. And, do yourself a favor and try the amazing boulonaise. You won't be sorry!!!

  • Not very impressed

We had been talking about.visiting Chazz.for a while and finally.stopped by on a Thursday evening. We were not very impressed. We were served red wine instead of the white we ordered, the bread was mealy and dry, the Little Italy Style chef salad had small diced pieces of deli meats and cheese with little balsamic dressing, and the Americana pizza I ordered was topped with peppers and onions that were hardly cooked past their raw state. The Classic NY Pepperoni was much better. Even the cheese and sauce was more flavorful. I was expecting much better pizza than this.

I enjoyed a delicious meal with my family on a Monday night. The restaurant was empty at first so we were able to take in the ambiance and enjoy our group without alot of noise that you would probably get on a weekend. Our waitress was quite knowledgeable about the menu, and the manager on duty, Perfecto! I ordered the Chicken Parm, and it was the best I have ever had. Portions were a perfect size and cooked to perfection. As we dined longer, the restaurant started filling up with more families, lots of kids and from my own standpoint, it was a very kid friendly spot. I can't help but to mention it again, but the manager on Monday August 18, 2014 was exceptional. I'm hungry again just thinking about it!

We had amazing food and our server, Nicole, was outstanding. The only blemish on our whole night was the first impression...the hostess. We love to dine out, with and without our kids, never have I experienced a more miserable hostess. At one point we asked if we could sit by a window at the next table over and she told us it was reserved. Hello...OpenTable...we had a reservation too. Of course the table sat empty for the next hour. So close to a fifth star Chazz, do try to put the more courteous people out front.

I have dined here many times but this visit was disappointing. Chicken parm was chewy and potato pizza was too spicy hot. It was also not very crowded for a Friday night. I hope they change or I fear they will close.

There was nothing that stood out as totally terrible but by the same token there was nothing that stood out as outstanding either. The server was friendly and prompt but not knowledgeable about the menu. The crab cake on the crab benedict was definitely not worthy to be called a Maryland crab cake and the steak and egg pizza although good only had two poached eggs on it - for a 14" pizza it could have used two more. Will we go back - probably to try them for dinner next time and see if the experience will be different.

I believe in Chazz. The man really does want to share a type of pizza experience....One that I know of well because we used to pile in a volkswagen beetle and go to Arthur avenue and have the most wonderful pizza. The bones of his restaurant are strong, there is a great decor, the service is great, it is kid friendly and the prices are reasonable (as reasonable as one can expect these days!). But the pizza is ruined by a gloppy sauce with no balance, (most sauce out of a can is better) which makes the crust soggy, and there is a lack of cheese. charge a few bucks more and put some mootz on the pizza! Someone fell asleep at the switch, the pizza could be great but is not done correctly.

From the time you pull up in front of Chazz: A Bronx original you can feel the positive vibes. They have valet parking, the hostess who greets you smiles and immediately has someone to bring you to your table. We were a party of six and they sat us at this very comfortable half circle booth. The wait staff were attentive to your wants but did not hover. Their lemon cello is sweet and delicious. I love their veal meatballs. Their pizza is excellent. My son loved their chicken ptarmigan, his fiancée loved the shrimp dish. My wife enjoyed a scrumptious salad. Prices are reasonable. Photos of Chazz from the Bronx tale are on the walls along with De Niro. The bathrooms were clean. This is a nice hip urban family restaurant. I recommend it.

First and most important our waitress was delightful. She was so kind and thoughtful, knowledgeable and accommodating. Our food was as described in the brunch menu and was just as appetizing. We are four retired teachers from Baltimore County so we had a lot of conversations going on and stayed nearly four hours. We didn't feel rushed, we felt very welcome. I would return anytime!

Great place for a girls night out happy hour with super bar specials for drinks and snacks. Two "buts", however... first the music. Certainly not reason enough to stay away, because our server, Dave was fantastic!

The service started slow and it was 10 minutes after we were seated before we got a server. Once she showed up we were well treated and she was very friendly and helpful.Food was very good as it was basic Italian. Wife really liked the Salmon on the cannelloni beans and my penne was very tasty. had a bottle of wine which we had before and overall the prices were realistic. Nothing fancy it was a local restaurant.

Love the margerita pizza, which is one of the best out there. BUT: This is the 3rd time I've been to the restaurant, and the AC isn't working, it's 85 degrees inside, and I get 3 different excuses (1- it's broken, 2 - it's on, but it's too hot outside, 3- we restarted it 2 days ago and it's not keeping up with the hot oven). Really? Sweating during dinner is not a good environment. Last - the deceptive "$10 Pizza Tuesday" bait and switch. Really? Sign on the table says "Pizzas on Tuesday just $10". So we order 2. Bill comes out, and each one is full price. When asking why, the response is: Oh, that only applies to 3 of the pizzas, not the ones you ordered.Really? It never said that!? They adjusted it after complalining, but come on

I don't normally think of Chazz for brunch based on their dinner menu but what a great surprise. Interesting menu of items like a steak and eggs breakfast pizza and lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. Whatever you order, include a pitcher of mimosas to sip and enjoy as well since noting beats fresh OJ to balance out the brunch. A great deal for a large pitcher that everyone can share. We will go back again and try something else as there were so many wonderful selections.

We bought a Groupon to try out Chazz. The Groupon was for brunch. My husband had the salmon benedict and I had the crab benedict. The presentation for both was beautiful. My husband loved the salmon and would definitely order it again. It wasn't that the crab cake wasn't good, it just wasn't what we expect when you order a crab cake in Baltimore. It had a strong pimento (I think?) flavor and it somewhat overpowered the crab cake itself. The Groupon included a pitcher of mimosas and it was quite delicious. Our server was very attentive. We enjoyed the atmosphere. We would definitely go back.

The pizza was tasty but the Chicken Marsala, salad, and bread where average and not worth it. Our server was horrible. You couldn't hear her speak over the noise of the place. She was slow and she seemed to not understand us either. I think she's in the wrong profession. My husband found a very small screw in his pizza and the manager said it happens all the time due to the hot oven breaking equipment (maybe order some new equipment, dude?). They gave us a new pizza but didn't comp anything on the bill. The chicken, a side salad, a pizza (small to med size), a beer, a kid's pasta, a glass of wine, and a kid's milk came to $94 before tip. I could pay at least 1/2 of that at another pizza place and enjoy it more.

Fabulous casual Italian restaurant; we had outstanding coal-oven pizza, great mussels and terrific asparagus ravioli. Wait staff was attentive, although not distinctly professional, but given the casual nature of the resturant, the service did not detract at all from the experience. Location is really between Harbor East and Fells Point, so parking in Harbor East meant walking a few blocks, which was fine for an early summer evening (might be a different experience in winter).

On a slow Wednesday evening at 7:30, with a reservation, waited 25 minutes for service. There were only four other tables of diners. Cocktails were watery, restaurant was very warm (maybe the a/c want working?) Server did her best to make up for the very slow start after we asked if service would be as slow throughout the meal. For the most part, food was very good, especially the calamari appetizer and funghi pizza. Pasta was over cooked and hard in spots. Might give it one more chance.
