  • "Food is always very good. I usually have sushi and saki and my wife usually gets a chicken dish. Great ambience. Service is usually good although a little inconsistent. Very good dessert menu."

  • "very bad sushi, and other bad dishes. they lowered their quality in food. very disappointing...."

  • "The ambiance suggests upscale and trendy. The food suggests a chef who is either burned out or overwhelmed. The Mahi-mahi special was tasteless. The salmon veggies were plain and unexciting. The cocktail special sounded great but was...boring and odd. For these prices a customer deserves better."

  • "On a busy Saturday night, they were at least 30 minutes behind schedule on filling our 9 p.m. reservation, but we just enjoyed a drink at the crowded bar. The waiter also mis-understood our check-splitting plan in a way that would have given him a 40% tip if we'd not been paying attention. But it's lovely venue, the bar scene was fun, and the ravioli special was to die for! I'll definitely be going back."

  • "Excellent diverse menu with interesting preparations Crispy whole Branzino very good Burger may be the most perfect looking burger I've ever seen and eaten Fun electric vibe without being too loud to talk with each other Absolutely going back!"

  • "Truly special, especially for special occasion. Not inexpensive, but worth it."

  • "I have been coming to Chaya for 10 years, the service and food is superb. I love the fact that many of the wait staff have been there for 15+ years (Jeffery, Joey etc). They know how to provide great service and are very honest about the menu. Totally recommend Chaya, everyone I take there from out of town really enjoys the atmosphere and food. If yoy arrive early, you can sit in the bar for a cocktail, it can get pretty busy in there but it is a good place to hang out."

  • "Been going to Chaya for years but hadn't been in awhile. Decided to return for my birthday with my parents and husband. The food was fantastic and so was the dessert. The manager, Maya, was helpful too providing us with some dining recommendations. Staff was attentive."

  • "My wife's last day at a job she didn't like. A celebration of freedom. Marsha, the hostess, picked up on our mood (ebullience) immediately and gave us our favorite table. Joseph, our waiter treated us like old friends, even though we hadn't been there in months. The service was just perfect, the food was just the right amount and every bite of my Asian Chicken Salad was delicious!! They kindly bought us a delicious desert. A brownie with salted caramel ice cream. We walked home in a fog of good feelings. A perfect night."

  • "With reservations it took over 50 mins to be seated. It took over 40 mins to get our food after ordering and after asking for the check it took over 15 minutes to actually receive. What should have been an hour/ hour and a half dinner was nearly 3 hrs due to slow service. Not pleased being that it was a birthday celebration."

  • "We loved Chaya Venice Shane our waiter was terrific. Great veg soup. Yummy burgers cooked just right and great ginger ice tea. Easy to park. And get validated. We will definitely return when we are back in Los Angeles"

  • "I've been coming here off and on for 20 years. It continues to impress every time, all the staff are pros, the waiters go above and beyond in every way. I highly recommend Chaya Venice!"

  • "McKeel was our server on Valentines day. She was prompt, energetic, and incredibly sweet. The restaurant was packed but she took great care of us. And the food was incredible!!"

  • "We went to Chaya on Valentine's Day. It was extremely crowded; we were really packed in like sardines and the service was a little bit slow because of all the people. However, despite all that, the food was fantastic. Delicious rib eye steak and the starters -- a salmon ceviche and lobster enchilada were fabulous. The staff -- despite being very busy -- were very friendly and helpful. I understand it's much less crowded on normal days and I would certainly go again."

  • "Wayyyyy to crowded for Valentines. Packed like sardines! Makes the whole exprerience disappinting and unromantice. Food experience also suffers because of that. Food was good overall but not impressive especially for the $68 valentines prefix. Live music was great though"

  • "Our favorite place to dine when visiting our daughter at LMU (we're from the east coast). The service is wonderful. The atmosphere vibrant and fun-filled. The food very flavorful."

  • "I went here for a birthday. We had a group of 12. Everything was great! Food and service was excellent. We asked at beginning for separate checks but they said they couldn't do it. That caused a bit of headache at the end but worked out fine."

  • "Always a go-to restaurant for me. Food is really good. Where else can you get spaghetti, a burger or sushi at the same place along with other innovative dishes? Spicy tuna on wonton chips are a must!"

  • "Came here for DineLa. The food was amazing. My favorite spot in la thus far. I had the sashimi which was just fantastic. The salmon was cooked to perfection. And the desert was great. Highly highly recommended."

  • "If you can't decide what you want for dinner, you can most likely find something you'd like at Chaya Venice. The menu was eclectic and their asain to Italian items were all very good. They even do desert well."

  • "This was my first experience at Chaya and it was wonderful! All of our dishes were absolutely delicious, and incredibly unique. Our server, Jules was deslightful, knowledgeable and provided excellent recommendation. The servers and bussers assisting her during our meal were also attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!"

  • "this place has been so consistently amazing for so long that i have trouble picturing venice without it! always a go-to dining spot for new visitors to town. what better place to set the bar? speaking of bars- theirs is always good for an entertaining way to start an evening of note. enjoy!"

  • "I had a delicious burrata cheese salad with asian pears and had requested a half order of the pumpkin gnocchi which sounded delicious as well but the chef said absolutely no half orders!! That seemed very short sighted in my opinion as the great restaurants like spage, capo, etc. will always be happy to let you have half orders even of salads???!!!"
    Dined on 1/19/2014
  • "Chaya used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the west side. Regretably no more. The same dishes we ordered previously (prior to 2013) that were delicious are now tasteless! Our suspicion was confirmed by the waitress that there has indeed been a change of management. I would say the quality of food has plunged from an 8 to 2/3."

  • "Been to chaya Venice many times but I won't go back again. The food was very mediocre. The calamari was drab. We sent our boullabase back as there was no fish in it. The drinks were also terrible."

  • "sushi was not good and wine very overpriced . Years ago I used to go here for sushi and its was tough the sashimi but Cal roll still good"

  • "Decided to have a nice dinner, along with our 7 year old who loves to eat out. The food was great for the parents and my son loved trying a lot of new dishes too! Our waiter, Shane was awesome! I've been here many times over the last 15 years but tonight was the best service ever. Thanks for the incredible service!"

  • "i was going to meet a friend who loves this place. after several tries we met at Chaya and I loved it. sushi, pasta and all kinds of eclectic delicious food. my only draw back was wish i could have couple of drinks it is much to far from home to partake in the alcohol drink."

  • "I was looking for a bit more quiet than I found at Chaya Venice, as well as a bit more of its earlier Asian fusion menu. The menu is much more mainstream now but generally well executed. My friends and I passed on appetizers, having filled up at an earlier holiday party, and went directly to the main course. Service was attentive and thoughtful, though because of the very full dining room it took a while to have our order taken and for food to arrive. Would try again mid-week."

  • "...and you can't beat the variety: from sushi to soups, vegetarian options to hearty, meat meals. High marks for versatility."
