Chaya VeniceWow!Visiting LA and saw this restaurant on Open Table. The menu caught my eye and knowing not much else we walked to it from Venice Beach. We were a family group of 5 adults. Classy and visually entertaining interior with pleasant and experienced staff. Fantastic variety of food, wine, and bar drinks. The Moscow Mule in a copper mug was fantastic. Sashimi was fresh and the carpaccio was outstanding. All five dishes we had were amongst the best we've had. The lamb and steak were great. Best of all it included Bottomless Mimosas n the brunch price, while many restaurants had an additional fee. best I've had. The pasta arrabiata we had was amazing. All of the food is great...even the warm sour dough bread. It's a hot spot in Venice. Only thing is it can be very crowded but even so...when I've eaten there on Saturday nights..it wasn't a problem. Chaya Venice is one of those rare restaurants that manages to provide superb food and great atomosphere at reasonble prices and in place that you won't feel uncomfortable bringing your kids. For that reason, I call it a neighborhood gem, but that might understate it. However, we were very disappointed that, despite having made a reservation far in advance, we were seated in the bar area - not the main dining room. We were insulted that we were not, at least, given other options. However, given that the bar has the only TV in the place, there was some consolation in being able to watch the NCAA Basketball tournament during our meal. Otherwise we had a very enjoyable experience, as usual. The service was great and made up for much of our disappointment regarding the seating.
