Love their bento boxesI always go to Chaya swearing I will get a salad or entree. What can I say, their luncheon bento boxes are superb each and every time!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Food & ServiceI made reservations for 4 and showed up with 5 in my party and the hostess was so nice to accommodate on no notice! The food was excellent and service was great. It is a bit pricey but well worth it.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was an amazing experience! This was an amazing experience! The food was great, the server, Emilia, was so pleasant and efficient.
We were going to a show and she asked what time we needed to be out of there. They made my husband feel very special since it was his birthday. The menu was very eclectic and delicious. I had been to Chaya Brasserie and this restaurant out did it!
This could also be appropriate for a business lunch or dinner.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theater dining DowntownThe food and service at Chaya are always wonderful and consistent. We arrived late to our reservation due to traffic, but were still able to have a terrific meal in the 45 minutes we had before having to leave for our event. Looking forward to going back.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMService above & beyondMet all of the special needs of my guest. Including her enormous amounts of allergies6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWow....Chaya is a top-notch restaurant. Interesting dishes that are intriquitely prepared and DELICIOUS. The attention to detail, presentation and quality of the food is superb. There is a Japanese influence but are fused with different styles. The service was great. We went prior to going to the Disney Concert Hall and will go back (many times).6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLively repastA terrific dining experience except for very loud drums prohibiting dinner table discussion.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day without a hitchThe annual Mother's Day Brunch quest came around and I flashed on the idea of trying out Chaya downtown LA. We are familiar with Chaya Venice and Beverly Hills and so we knew to expect a sophisticated experience. The menu read especially well, the execution of the food was even better, it was excellent. The server was exactly present and attentive enough and the ambience was just right. Enough buzz to be interesting but not at the expense of an atmosphere that was conducive to a pleasant normal speaking voice conversation. We sat outside on the patio and were able to enjoy the outdoors without cars, cold or otherwise encroaching. At $40 each before wine, it was an outstanding deal and an outstanding experience. We look forward to returning.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe service and food and attention to detail were perfect. Made for a lovely evening.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressedThe food was amazing, light and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. It was a busy lunch, however, it did not affect our experience what so ever.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMChaya - great Downtown experienceEverything is terrific -- from the taste, to the presentation, to the staff, to the ease of parking.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll keep going backI really like this place. Fantastic attitude and recognition from staff and especially management coupled with consistently delicious food. Now, how about one in Pasadena near my home? This is my #1 choice when in downtown5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceWe arrived late for a show and they were so accommodating. Sat us in 2 minutes and presented a great meal for all six of us on time without feeling rushed. Food was excellent.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHad dinner before going toHad dinner before going to theater at the music center.Chaya has wonderful food and good service. As soon as we got in the car, we started making plans what to try next time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Chaya Downtown asWe love Chaya Downtown as a place to meet and dine before the Opera, Disney Hall or the Chandler Pavilion theaters.Sometimes we sit at the bar or lounge and enjoy the happy hour menu and cocktails. Other times we sit in the restaurant and enjoy theexceptional and delicious menu items. The service is friendly and attentive. It is a real plus to have the shuttle service available at the curb and we are happy that Chaya continues to provide that service as so many other downtown restaurants have discontinued the shuttle.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSeabass and lambchops wereSeabass and lambchops were wonderful. Perfectly seasoned and delicious!
Waiter recommended chef's signature tuna tar tar. Unimpressed by this dish, served with hard toast that cut into my gums.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen I order salad, I alwaysWhen I order salad, I always request "dressing on the side". This restaurant fails to provide this simple request, once in a while (maybe 1 of 3 times). Moreover, I can not complain as the assigned server who took my order doesn't bring the food. I do not have much time as my lunch time is limited. Well, I keep coming here anyway, as my office is nearby. Their food is good. But their service is not good. However, I always tip enough.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI liked this place but didn'tI liked this place but didn't love it. The tables were too close to each other. The menu seemed limited. I like everything I ate so I have to say it's very good. The prices were very reasonable. I would go back again.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, theThe food was excellent, the service friendly and efficient, the only criticism would be that the space is boring and corporate feeling. Not a place for a special experience, but fine for a solid meal before the theater.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery friendly and attentiveVery friendly and attentive staff. Great food. Kevin Wong St. Regis Residences San Francisco3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Excellent pre-theater dinner with a very tasty curry spiced pumpkin soup to start, followed by a braised black cod in a sauce of chopped clams, and then for dessert a fine marjolaine cake. Efficient service complimented the great dinner.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI'lll be back to ChayaI was concerned that Chaya downtown would be difficult to find, let alone park. Not so.
The valet service is uber easy and friendly. Access to Chaya is super easy and parking is validated with only a $5.00 fee.
There is ample room between tables and conversations are not overwhelmed by the chatter of other diners.
The food choices were varied and suitable to all tastes be they large and meaty or vegan.
I chose the bento box. A very ample portion of five different menu items. I especially liked the special house salad. The greens were crisp, and fresh, along with a very tasty, not too spicy dressing, small shreds of white meat chicken and golden raisins are a nice tidbit of sweet. Dessert was out of this world.1/16/2013 12:00:00 AM281 [5-/5] SoupDuJour*,FrittoMisto,281 [5-/5] SoupDuJour*,FrittoMisto,Carpaccio*,DinnerBento*,WhiteSeaBass,LobsterRavioli,BeetSalad*,RedDragonRoll*,BananaDessert,BreadPudding*(,2GlJoelGottZin,Conundrum,Badoit)12/12/2012 12:00:00 AMFirst time and lucky pick.First time and lucky pick.
