Chaya BrasserieFun and tastyWe had an outside table with views of the day. Part of the delight of this restaurant came from the excellent weather that day and the opportunity to enjoy the view. The menu was limited due to it being Mothers Day but the choices were good as was the food. The service was spectacular. Good attention, but not too much. I would highly recommend this venue.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMworth a repeat tripWe have been to Chaya 5 - 6 times over the past two years ... always in a group of 4 - 6. The food has been consistently good with good taste, quantity, presentation, and quality. Service is excellent ... just enough without being fawning. The setting is lively without being loud ... and you have nice views of the Bay and Bay Bridge. We discovered that wine bottles are 50% on Sunday evening ... so you can have a great meal and wine ... at a very affordable price. We will be back again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had to make an early reservationWe had to make an early reservation, even though we wanted to enjoy the bridge lightshow. Service was relaxed and hospitable, so we stayed for two hours. The food was wonderful. We don't usually pay this much, but it was a very special occasion, so it didn't hurt at all.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Staff Good FoodThe Staff at Chaya is amazing. They created an excellent experience and went out of their way to be helpful and available without being the overbearing or annoying. An example of their incredible waitstaff is that our waiter (i wish i knew his name to thank him) overheard that it was my wife's Birthday (we did not want to make a huge to-do about it) and the waiter quietly and kindly brought out a complimentary croissant bread pudding (it was excellent). Perfect for what we were looking for.
We have dined here several times and every time the food is very good. Their Dine about town Menu is fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this place to someone out for an evening of ambiance.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and nice serviceGreat food and nice service in a relaxed atmosphere. Food portion wasn't huge. We had to order 6 courses and an appetizer to be satisfied. The Filet Mignon, Risotto, and the Scallop was unforgettably tasty!! The duck and the garlic fries were okay. (Felt like garlic fries was a scam. Ok it's understandable if you HAVE TO order if your neighbor did : the smell was too tempting, just keep in mind that it's not that good. The service weren't great but not bad. If you think that an upscale restaurant would acknowledge you for your birthday, think twice. Even after checking my ID for alcohol, waitress didn't say anything. Maybe she didn't really check..? all of the securities at the participated pub crawl bars said happy birthday. Thought they would be more attentive?4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Chaya twice nowI've been to Chaya twice now and both times were outstanding. Great food. Views of the Bay Bridge. And Tinos is an amazing waiter (make sure to ask for him).4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little spot, great viewsGreat little spot, great views for the Bay Bridge Light Show that is going on now. They were also very accomodating for my mom's birthday...made sure we had a window seat, very beautiful dessert for free. Great spot.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThumbs up for ChayaI love this place. The second time I've taken my GF there for her birthday. She didn't seem to mind the repeat dining experience and neither did I. I had flowers pre-delivered for her and when we arrived, the flowers were center table very close to the front window. NICE. Thoughtful. Very nice view of the Bay Bridge. Sashimi salad, muscles, salmon, filet mignon, great cocktails, I'd go back any time. Probably in about a year unless I'm fortunate to make it sooner ;-)4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMoverall excellent experience.overall excellent experience. great food and amazing service. very professional4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMChaya had an all night happyChaya had an all night happy hour so we were able to get a lot of different kinds of food to try for reasonable prices. The food is always amazing there.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat views of the light displayGreat views of the light display on the Bay Bridge. Ask for a table with a view.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy high expectations wereMy high expectations were exceeded. Asked for a table where we could see the Bay Bridge lights and were grateful to have a great table near the window. The wall mirror enabled both of us to see the show. Everything we ate was outstanding, from rainbow sashimi seaweed salad and roasted mussels to scallops and salmon and finally bread pudding. Very enjoyable experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA night at ChayaThis restaurant has a great front patio which opens to views of the Bay Bridge, and it's heated so you don't have to worry about the chilly San Francisco nights. Food is delicious. Waiters were attentive. Ambience is great, it's perfect for a romantic date.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSome tables provide a viewSome tables provide a view of Oakland Bay Bridge -- with it's lovely light display. Makes for a wonderful evening view. Food was grand, atmosphere very nice, staff went out of their way to meet the request I made with my open table reservation to acquire a table with a view of the bridge. Great way to spend an evening with a friend that I don't get to see very often.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI dined out on the patio onI dined out on the patio on a Saturday night for all night happy hour! I think we ordered every appetizer, which were small but all very good and reasonably priced. The cerviche was so delicious. The heaters kept us warm on a cold San Francisco night and we had a fantastic view of the bridge and the new bay lights! It was really nice, I look forward to coming back soon!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here, the wifeFirst time here, the wife & I were impressed. Menu is a sort of asian fusion, and everything we ordered was very good. Will be going back, but perhaps not until after tourist season. :-)
And yes, the view of the Bay Lights should be great, though we were there too early to see them lit. On the bright side (as it were), a 5:30 seating left us ample time to make an 8:00 symphony performance at Davies Hall.
Only real downside, aside from the Embarcadero traffic (at least the restaurant has very convenient valet parking) was that as the dining area filled up it got rather noisy. Not sure if this was just that night, or if it's always that way.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMChaya Brasserie has a completeChaya Brasserie has a complete and outstanding menu along
with a great bay bridge view.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHorrendous noise level aside,Horrendous noise level aside, Chaya is outstanding. We had a table with a great view of the bay. Throughout dinner, our waiter timed his visits to check up on us perfectly. Seafood was superb - prawn salad, scallops with mascarpone risotto - risotto was the best we've had in the city; wish it was offered as an entree as well as an accompaniment!Duck with spiced honey glaze also excellent, cooked rare as requested, with yummy squash puree & flawlessly sauteed spinach. 2 signature dishes - mac & cheese side, chocolate croissant bread pudding - are terrific; would love the pudding recipe. We'll be back (hopefully when the restaurant isn't full of noisy large groups)!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner atWe enjoyed our dinner at Chaya very much!! We had the prix fixe dinner as well as a few sushi rolls and thought everything was wonderful. We had the added pleasure of sitting close to a window overlooking the bay and had an excellent view of the light show on the Bay Bridge.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. MadeGreat food and service. Made our special night out even more special!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten at Chaya multipleI have eaten at Chaya multiple time for both lunch and dinner but this was by far the best experience. The black cod dish was amazing as well as the filet. The food along with a window table watching the bay lights couldn't have made for a better night.
Our server was great! Answered all questions with no hesitation and made the best recommendations for our table.
This was a business dinner but I can see that it would make an incredible place for a date night.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great table withWe had a great table with view of the Bay Bridge Lights. Service was impeccable - and we are four people with completely different and very fussy tastes. Was our second time and we will definitely be back.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious and scenic.tried this place totally on a whim as a friend was in town and staying right across the street at hotel vitale.
the food and service were both fantastic.
we did get a mac n' cheese for the table that was DELICIOUS!
the entrees (sushi and salmon entree) were both fantastic, fresh and amazingly prepared and partnered with excellent flavors.
really enjoyed this place and will DEFINITELY be back. especially while 'the bay lights' is up since about every table has views of the bridge and bay. wonderful!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group size was small --Our group size was small -- 5 people for lunch. It was a perfect experience.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed the food, thoughtReally enjoyed the food, thought the name implied Indian origin but then when I discovered it was Asian, it made sense! Great food, my whole family enjoyed their time.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI had no idea the food wasI had no idea the food was so good here. It was the perfect location for Easter Brunch with yummy dungeness crab and bottomless mimosas with a gorgeous view of the bridge. We had a lovely experience and the fried chicken with maple syrup was sooo good, but the salted caramel ice-cream sandwiches were absolutely DEVINE!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOur concierge recommendedOur concierge recommended this restaurant for Easter brunch. The view by the Bay, outdoor table, was lovely. We wish cars were not allowed to park in front of the restaurant, though. The Unlimited Mimosas option was much appreciated.
Patrick was our waiter, and was the best!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the filet cooked mediumI had the filet cooked medium rare and it was perfect!!! Everything was delicious - the atmosphere was a bit underwhelming but can't complain too much for a Sunday evening.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food but they gotWonderful food but they got my friend 's sushi order wrong. Didn't see our waiter again for 30 minutes to correct it. Overall great place with a diverse menu.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were given a great table,We were given a great table, with a perfect view of the new lights on the Bay Bridge. The food was excellent and beautifully prepared, and the wine was perfect for our meal. Service was good, and our waiter set up a lovely dessert for my friend's daughter, as it was her birthday. It was a great evening, and we will certainly return.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great exceptEverything was great except when I ordered I said "I want to start with..." but after we finished that course our server brought us the dessert menu. Then after we ordered a dessert to split and the table was set he gave us the dessert menu again.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood experience here. I hadGood experience here. I had made a note on my reservation that it was my best friends bachelorette party and upon arrival she was greeted with a congratulations and they managed to give us a table with a stunning view... Had it not had the valets umbrella blocking 80% of the bay bridge. Something that they should have noticed before, however once it started getting dim out I just requested that it be taken down. The server was attentive and knowledgeable, my water was never empty. Good wine. My salad was great, and the duck was very flavorful. Do not waste the 10$ on the assorted cookie dessert. Highly doubt they are made in house and far from gourmet. Other then that good meal and great service.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI would definitely eat hereI would definitely eat here again and highly recommend it. The food was scrumptious and the view of the bay is amazing!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChaya has style! We willChaya has style!
We will return on our next trip to San Francisco3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first visit toThis was my first visit to Chaya and I think Chaya is wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was great. Given the high caliber of food, service, location, ambience and great views looking over the SF Bay and Bay bridge, I thought the prices were reasonable. I will definitely return. My only quibble is that in spite of having made a reservation a week in advance, we were given a fairly lousy table for two between the Exit door and a partial wall separating us from the front dining area with the spectacular views.Since I was there, however, to catch up with a friend, it wasn't a huge issue for me but if I had come for the view, I would have been complained.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMYou will not be disappointed! From start to finish our meal was 5 star all the way! I arrived a few minutes early our table was ready, I was promptly greeted and offered the drink and sushi menu. Ordered a delicious cosmo, two different sushi rolls, shrimp tempura and the spicy tuna and from there things only went further uphill! My Mother had the salmon cooked to perfection and the plate was so pretty you almost didn't want to eat it. My Father had the duck and they sliced it for him rather then serving it on the breast much to his delight and if he could have he would have licked the plate clean! I had the pork chop with carmelized apples I barely needed a knife to cut the meat! We had the meyer lemon tart for dessert - what a treat - CANNOT wait to return!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AM15th AnniversaryWe had a fantastic time at Chaya from the moment we made the reservation to the end of the meal. We were celebrating our 15th Anniversary and noted this when making the reservation. We also noted on the reservation request that we didn't drink alcohol. When the host called to confirm our reservation, she acknowledged both of these notations. When we arrived for dinner, we were seated in an area where there happened to be a lot of children so we asked to be relocated and we were very quickly to a great spot in the main dining room on the other side of the wall behind the host stand. Patrick our server for the evening was great and took good care of us as did Candace our host. Both acknowledged that it was our anniversary and comped dessert!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI found this restaurant whenI found this restaurant when I was looking for a place that had a view of the bay bridge. The light show that got added to the bay bridge definitely made the view a lot better. I would come back just for the ambiance.
The service was great! They were able to help us find a table that had a better view when we requested it. They timely, professional, and it was nice that they had a room in the back to hold your coat and other items instead of keeping them by your seat.
The food was decent. Nothing stood out as a must have. But again, I went to the restaurant for the ambiance and view.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food. Really enjoyedLoved the food. Really enjoyed our selections. Wish they were in Dallas area.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI had made a reservation atI had made a reservation at Chaya Brasserie to celebrate the birthday of a friend and had put in a special request for a table with a great view of the Bay Bridge. We had a wonderful table with a perfect view and the evening was exceptional in every way. The food, the service (especially our waiter Tim) and that wonderful view made for a very special evening. We already have reservations to return!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best on the EmbarcaderoI've been to Chaya twice now and been really impressed with the food. The portions are healthy but not over the top, so having an appetizer for a small eater like me works well. Standouts were the scallops over risotto and tuna tataki appetizer I had for lunch. I had the sashimi salad for dinner this last time. What a great presentation and fresh fish! And of course the chocolate bread pudding with caramael ice cream is divine. Now with the light show on the Bay Bridge, I expect this spot to be hopping even more come warmer weather.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I had the chayaMy husband and I had the chaya medley which is a 3 compartment sort of bento box. Dave had the lamb and I had the pan roasted wild king salmon. In the first compartment was the appetizer - fried calamari. It was delicious, one of the best calamaris I've ever had. The third compartment were 2 sushi and 2 nigiri. For dessert we ordered the tahitian vanilla bread pudding. It was not overly sweet which we both liked a lot. I ordered the blood orange lemonade and it was good! We will go back to dine here again.
We were celebrating Dave's birthday, the manager comped the dessert. That was a very nice touch.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMagicalChaya never ceases to amaze me with their food and great service. The staff is very attentive and the overall experience magical. Will always come back to this great restaurant!1/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI've always gone for her happyI've always gone for her happy hour, but this time I actually ate in the regular dining area. I ordered the duck and it was very good.
We had a good dinner.12/13/2012 12:00:00 AMThe hostess was excellentThe hostess was excellent and also took our bar order. Our waiter was very good and friendly, although did not check on us as often as we hoped. He did steer us in the right direction with menu and wine suggestions. He offered to decant the wine, but another server ended up pouring the wine without decanting it. Everyone enjoyed the food. We would definitely eat here again.11/23/2012 12:00:00 AM
