Chateau MorrisetteThe service was excellentThe service was excellent and the food was outstanding not to mention the view.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Olace to Visit! We eat here quite often and it is definitely one of favorite places to go. The service is great, the wines from their vineyard are wonderful and the food is outstanding. Sit on the terrace and you will have one of the prettiest views in the Blue Ridge,6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBucket List RestaurantDining on the deck in warmer months is a must-do. The views of Black Ridge and Buffalo Mountain are definitely worth it. Also, a wine tasting in the winery building before the meal is a great way to choose a favorite wine to complement the excellent cuisine.
Overall, the restaurant has great food at reasonable prices. It is great for both families and couples, is not too loud, and offers a good range of foods. I highly recommend it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFine DinningThe service and food have been very good upon each dinning experience we have had a Chateau Morrisette. You can dine outside or inside and each gives you a special dinning experience. We drive thirty five miles to enjoy the great food and wine. You will not be disappointed.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMa perfect noteI took my out of states sisters there for lunch, scored a perfect 10, thanks!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!I've been several times and recommend it highly. It's a 2 hour drive from my home, but the view on the parkway makes it worthwhile.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMbrunch with a view26 for brunch is a bit expensive but well worth it for a thick slice of tasty prime rib, fresh made in front of you omlet or pancakes, delicious other options and the best dessert bar i have ever had. Great for special occasions but make a reservation as sometimes they can get very busy.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThird time I've been up there,Third time I've been up there, great wine and food with scenary.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience.I was visiting my friend in the mountains and I wanted to take her to the winery for lunch. We had spectacular food and a wonderful wine tasting experience. This is a must stop place if you are anywhere near this location.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful SunsetMy husband and I went to Chateau Morrisette to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The dinner was excellent and the people who worked there were friendly and attentive. The view from our table was wonderful and the sunset made the visit there extra special. I would recommend Chateau Morrisette for its beautiful location and the people who work there.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian FareI've always loved the CM food but on this last visit, I discovered very little that I could eat. I.e., fewer vegetarian entrees.
The veggie quesadilla was not available. I don't do dairy either, so that was certainly a factor.
I would suggest the chef consider a tofu or tempeh substitute for the meat in some entrees. Would certainly make me visit more often.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT LUNCHArrived early and shopped the winery first and were then seated promptly. Food ranged from very good to OK, service was slow, but holiday following very large groups and walk-ins the day before. Server described the beef short-rib appetizer as bone-in; however, no bones and appeared to be shredded beef5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBlue Ridge Brunch...The winery tour, tasting and brunch were all outstanding. having been a chef for 20 years I appreciate great food, nicely presented with good service in a great atmosphere. We will be back!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMfabulousLoved the sunday Brunch waitress was extremely friendly. The man giving wine tour was super personable and passionate. He loved his job and it truly shined thru. He definitely added to the whole experience of the day!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been here for SundayHave been here for Sunday Brunch 3 times and Lunch once. Can't wait to try it for Dinner! Food is nicely prepared and presented and not cold when supposed to be warm! Wait staff is very pleasant and helpful. Right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the view is awesome! We especially like that a variety of meat is offered. This past Sunday my husband had a piece of salmon, some catfish and a small piece of prime rib all of which he said were very good; I had prime rib and baked chicken and I was able to get a thigh which I much prefer over a breast. My husband went back for seconds on the Collard Greens which he declared "wonderful". None of our party had the Virginia Ham, or Quiche. All of the other dishes and desserts we tried were very good.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery friendly, very accomodatingVery friendly, very accomodating with us when we showed up late for our reservation. The young lady that took care of us at the bar was exceptional. Will most definitely go back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceWe had friends out of town for the long weekend and took them to Chateau Morrisette. We had multiple kids of different ages with us. Even though we were there 10min early the table was ready and the staff was friendly. We really liked the food (we were there for Sunday brunch) - it was outstanding and even for people with dietary restrictions there were plenty of options. The brunch was one of the highlights of our friends' trip.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMEligiaFun place with good service and food.
Wine list could be better.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVACATIONWe vacation in the Blue Ridge every 2-3 years, and we make reservations for Sunday Brunch every time we're there. It's worth going half way across the country for!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary Dinning locationMy wife and I went for our 11th year wedding anniversary dinner. Food was amazing, atmosphere was great, drink list was full of great options. The staff was very help And attentive. Great dinning experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNiceMy husband and I wanted to find a restaurant along the parkway to celebrate our anniversay, being that we honeymooned there 23 years ago. Chateau Morrisette was perfect! Nice setting, great food, beautiful drive and scenary! We will be back!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulWell worth the drive from anywhere. I felt like I was in France.
Wonderful dining experience.
Looking for something exotic in menu, they have it.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMtouristThis was my first time to Chateau Morrisette and it was totally enjoyable. My only disappointment was that we got there a little too late to have wine tasting at the winery. We enjoyed our meals and bought a bottle of wine and a wine glass to bring home.
Thanks.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways awesome!Have been going here for several years.. Has never, ever disappointed my family.
Everything about Chateau Morrisette is very outstanding.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceOur son just graduated from VT in Blacksburg, and we were looking for a nice restaurant to take our group of 6 to celebrate. A friend of ours who is from the area told us 4 years ago when our son started VT to go to Chateau Morisette if we had the chance. We are happy we went. The food, from appetizers to dessert, was great. The server was very attentive and knowlegable. She didn't steer us wrong on any of her suggestions. The only negative of the whole experience was the drive to the restaurant. The last 6 miles of roads were very narrow and twisting (it is in the Blue Ridge Mountains) and fog set in. We had a very enjoyable and lesurely 2 1/2 hour meal and were very satisfied with the experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation celebrationI recently graduated with my masters from Virginia Tech and decided that heading to Chateau would be a great way to spend this afternoon. I came there with my friends and family and had a great time. everyone that provided service was happy and very helpful. My waiter was extremely enthusiastic about the food and made everything seem exciting before even trying it. Once we did actually have our food it was clear whywhy he was so enthusiastic. From the bread to the dinner to the desert to the wine everything was great. I will look back on my graduation day with happy memories.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ViewsThere are not many dining options in this area of Virginia, and this restaurant does a good job with a variety of menu items. It won't be the best restaurant you've ever dined in, but it certainly won't be the worst. You would think with it being a winery that the wine would be good. In my opinion, the wine is decent at best.
The restaurant staff were very pleasant and accommodating.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMStill goodThird time here the food is good, the view is excellent. My parents were in town and we brought them, they liked it. They have changed the menu a bit since I was last there, it didn't seem to be better or worse than the old one. There were a ton of giant groups for graduation weekend but the resturant did such a good job managing them you could barely tell, they managed to quarantine all the noise quite well.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for brunch!Chateau Morrisette offers a wonderful brunch. We took my mother and her husband there for Mother's Day and the food was perfect -- lots of variety, everything was laid out nicely, and tasted great. Service was out of this world, thank you Sherry!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat View, Service, FoodWe took my sister here for brunch on her first Mother's Day and were thrilled with our meal; my sister felt well celebrated. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious - diverse with all the old standbys (pancakes, omelets, etc.) and some unusual new favorites (some sort of corn bread salad - surprisingly good). The best part of course is the outstanding view of the Blue Ridge Mountains via the massive windows in the dining room. Don't forget to follow up the meal with a wine tasting next door!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Everything was great! Arrived before our reservation time and we were seated within minutes.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth going toWe had a very nice time at Chateau Morrisette. The food was great and was much more reasonably priced than I remembered. The wine list was also great and best prices I've ever seen in a restaurant for bottles. Very good ambience and wonderful service. Many options on the menu.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSweet Desserts!I took my mom for dessert for Mother's Day and it was scrumptious!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a nice surprise! This was my first trip to Chateau Morrisette, and I fell in love with it! The dinner was absolutely delicious and served attractively. The setting was lovely. I can't wait until it warms up a bit to go back and have dinner outside with that lovely view. Our waitress was impressive with her memorization and sweet nature. A very good time was had by me and my guest.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you can find it...You have to travel a quite treacherous journey in order to get to Chateau Morrisette. The winding roads are enough to make you drink the wine! Our service was extraordinary. The wine was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's located in a beautiful area and the inside of the restaurant has a very romantic feel. Their ice cream is die to for! In fact, all their desserts are delicious.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCustomer ServiceWas greeted with a smile and welcome when we entered. Was seated quickly and immediatly provided water and a bread basket. Excellent waiter who was very friendly and knowledgable. Food was excellent with ample portions. Wine was served at the proper temerature. Deserts are made in house and to die for!! The prices are extremely fair.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the picturesqueWe enjoyed the picturesque setting, the expansive Sunday Buffet - complete with a dessert bar, and friendly attentive service. The prime rib, collard greens, and blackberry cobbler were delicious. The site made wine was also enjoyable. Cozy atmosphere lent itself to a leisurely meal enjoyed by all in our party.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Sunday BrunchThe Sunday we went fog and rain covered the mountain top. The temperature was a balmy 39 degrees. The view was non existent due to the fog. Inside was warm and cozy making us want to linger over brunch. Now to the food, the prime rib was excellent and the omelets cooked just perfectly. The dessert table was another favorite with many rich pastries. The only thing missing was music not loud obnoxious music but more the chamber type quiet and soothing. We had a wonderful time.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful foodThe Chateau is a great place for a great meal. The Sunday brunch offers a great variety of foods that should please everyone, from the carving station with prime rib and Virginia Ham to breakfast omelets and side dishes and scrumptious desserts. Our group of four really enjoyed ourselves and were stuffed when we left. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The day was foggy so eating outdoors wasn't an option this time but usually the views are brethtaking and the gardens spectacular. We would recommend this Sunday brunch as well as the weekday menu to anyone who wants a special dining experience. Don't balk at the price for the brunch (26.99 pp) because it is well worth it!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat service, friendly staff.greatgreat service, friendly staff.great food and wine with a wonderful view.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my friend's BirthdayIt was my friend's Birthday and we had a great time!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Chateau MorissetteWe eat here twice per year on average and can never wait to come back.
The food was amazing, as usual. And the service was spectacular. If you've never been, you are missing out.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is great but I goThe food is great but I go for the service, if I'm going to spend money to eat out I want great service and the Chateau has that!!!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good, WeThe food was very good, We ate the crab cakes and the catfish. The collards were to die for. Autum our waitress was the best and our experience wonderful. Thanks Autum!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth the drive! It was my second trip and just as good as my first. It is a great choice for a day trip for lunch. Food is excellent. Ambiance is excellent also for lovers of the mountains. It is a real gem.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOur son with his prom dateOur son with his prom date and 6 of their friends ate there Friday night before the Carroll County prom. They said the food was delicious and they had a great time!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. TheirThe food was very good. Their spin on shrimp and grits was good but far from classic. There was to much broth and you could not taste the smoked guada mentioned in the description. The grits where more like chopped hominy than grits and the gardenia garnish could be left out its not need and adds nothing to the taste. But the flavor was excellent, we would dine here again.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTried the filet mignon thisTried the filet mignon this time and it was so tender you could have cut it with a fork. The veggies were tender and cooked just right and the sweet potato was perfect. Could not have asked for better service either.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the driveAlways enjoyable. Food is fabulous and the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. On a pretty day dining outside offers stunning views.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as usualI had the wild Elk which was very good but is a specialty dish. My wife had the country fried steak which was excellent as usual. Logan, our server, did a great job serving us even as he helped what appeared to be a wedding party of 10 at the same time. The only issue we had was that the room was warmer than we liked and eventually my wife had to leave because of it. I think part of the problem was that we were seated in a corner by a south facing window because the other guests did not seem to be troubled by the temperature at all.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
