When waitress first approached table she complained about chef/owner. Told us about fish of day went to check that the fish was still available. But was 15-20 minutes before we saw her again and when we asked about the fish she indicated that they had run out hours earlier. Interesting since we got there at 7 30. When she delivered food. Forgot who ordered what dish. After long delay another waiter took out dessert order. She also suggested that the better chef was now at the new location in warehouse district. Will say apple dessert was great.

There are too many extraordinary restaurants in New Orleans to settle for mediocrity. I had the half duck and my wife had the bone-in veal special, neither of which were great. I would not be so critical if the price's were not absurd for the quality of food provided. Spend your money elsewhere. Service was great. Ambiance was average to good.

We arrived at 7 PM and were immediately shown to a table. The menu was a healthy mix of traditional French fare with some fusion found here and there. The wine list could stand to be filled out a bit more. Unfortunately, two of the plates we were interested to try (the foie gras and the house pate plate) were both unavailable. We chose instead the escargot and onion tart. The escargot was very good and the tart was excellent. For entrees, we ordered a standard: duck confit, and something a bit more experimental: a steak cooked in a tandoori style. Both were splendid. Over the course of the meal, the restaurant got more crowded. I still think we could have gotten away without a reservation, but why leave it to chance? The staff were friendly and attentive. There's only so much you can do for ambiance when your bistro overlooks a somewhat desperate stretch of Metairie Road, but they've done their best with the interior. I would consider increasing the space between tables on less busy nights.

If you are looking for a nice, casual dinner this is the place to go. It's your typical bistro. I've been trying to get wife to go here for a couple of years, but she's not adventurous in trying new food. So we met a couple of friends for dinner and to say the least everyone enjoyed their food. I had the duck confit and it was great. My wife and one other had the steak frites and they said it was one of the better steaks they ever had. I tried it, they were right. The last member of our group had the fish special which was puppy drum and he enjoyed. The desserts are great as well. Overall it's a great little spot to enjoy some really great food. The service and ambiance were fantastic.

I am french and eating there was like going back home... just reading the menu in french (all is translated, don't worry) was just a wonderful experience. The flavors and the presentation did not disappoint. It was the right portions. And for me, not liking seafood, it was a great escape from the Louisiana food that puts shrimp and crab in and on everything. The outside and the location would make you hesitate to go in at first but it's very different inside, very inviting and calm.

I got ripped off by the new bartender, be careful. What happened, I ordered a drink new bartender did not know prices. I gave her a $20 and never received change back. I asked her if my tab was closed as my date had arrived and she said yes but never gave me my change back drink was only $10.00, it was a first date and I did not want to make a scene. Other than that food service and waiter was excellent. Hopefully manager will catch on the her and take care of the bartebderm she was new and probably did the same at her previous employer's.

At a 7 pm Friday nite dinner for four, with the restaurant half full, service was unexpectedly slow. For a restaurant with high priced entrees , $33 for a redfish dish, the food was rather ordinary. One of our party had the duck confit which he described as "oily" and didn't finish it. Endive salad was very good and calf liver special entree was very good. At $138 for two including two glasses of wine a NS a split dessert, this restaurant will come off our list of regular visits.

From the outside this restaurant doesn't look like much. If I hadn't made reservations, I may have gone somewhere else. But inside, the restaurant was warm & friendly. I started off choosing the French Onion soup over the soup of the day - Broccoli, a poor choice on my part. My friend loved the Broccoli soup, which looked rich and creamy. My soup on the other hand was below par. Not much flavor. I ordered the special salad of the day, beet salad and it made up for the soup. It was excellent. Next came the Filet - cooked to perfection and very flavorful, another excellent! We didn't have time for dessert because we had to go to the theater. The service was excellent. Attentive, but not overly so. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Had a great time and enjoyed the whole dining experience as usual. Escargot always beautiful and perfectly prepped. Onion tart is always flaky and tasty, roasted duck is always tender and moist with an fantastic sauce. Doesn't matter what you order, it's always fresh and flavorful. Love the laid back atmosphere and casual dress. Can't wait for the Fulton St location to open in NOLA. :)

Wonderful classic French with a twist. Had the Steak au Poivre... wonderful sauce, slightly different from the normal au Poivre sauce, but absolutely delicious! Staff was very friendly. As a visitor, we noticed a LOT of locals were regulars there - a definite sign of consistently good food. Chef came out to greet everyone. A definite must visit again!

We went with a large group, with reservations, and were seated without any trouble. We were at a long table which doesn't really work for conversation, but it was ok. The service was find, no issues. The food was good, not great, and the portions tiny. Both of my boys were in the kitchen as soon as we got home. We had also substituted one veg for another one which we paid for, but the kitchen failed to do. The desserts were pretty good, but expensive. Since we were still hungry we all pretty much ended up getting one.

We love chateau du lac. I think chef must not have been in the kitchen. I am on low salt diet and usualy never have to request it because chef does not oversalt his food. I had the Tandoori beef which was really salty. Prob. from the m,arinade. I should havwe sent it back - but I hate to waste food. This experience at chateau was an anomaly. We will be back.

Truly one of New Orleans' great French Restaurants(even though it's in Metairie!) The Chef was kind enough to open for Bastille Day when It happened to fall on a day they are usually closed. The food, service and ambiance were great! It was a festive affair, with a live strolling accordianist, and some guests in French Costume. It was truly a pleasure to be there! Now it's definitely going to be a bastille day tradition! Merci Beaucoups!

The escargots was fantastic, my wife's duck was even better. I sent back my steak, it was over seasoned and overcooked. The waiter was mediocre, my wife and I sat with empty water glasses for 15-20 minutes. After sending the steak back, the staff as extremely apologetic. I was offered another steak and then free dessert (both of which we declined).

This was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I, and we really enjoyed it! We went on a Friday evening and didn't have to wait at all for a table for 2. The dress was nice casual and the waiter staff was very friendly. The food was excellent. I ate a cedar-planked salmon, which was served over asparagus and tomatoes, with lemon squeezed over the top. No complaints! And my wife had a duck dish, with a nice combination of veggies - definitely recommended! The price here was a little on the higher end (comparable to Ruth's Chris). We plan to eat here again!

This restaurant used to be closer to my home and I was a regular customer. They moved to a better location (for them) in a more upscale area. The food is always excellent. I've never had a bad meal here and some of the dishes I've had can be found nowhere else in the New Orleans area. The chef is French trained (and he's a French native). His menu has a strong French bias as would be expected but he includes local dishes as well. The wine list is short and heavy on French offerings. But I've not had a bad bottle yet. The prices are high compared to many restaurants in the area but you get what you pay for. I recommend them highly.

This restaurant can easily be missed, as it's in a strip mall on Metairie Road. You walk inside and it's charming. There are two rooms. The waitress was very friendly, but there were a couple of salads she forgot to bring. One was served as an entree. The kitchen was quick to fix these, but it was a little annoying the second time. They did offer to take it off of the bill and brought a dessert. The French Onion soup is delicious. The specialty that was ordered was drum, which was cooked perfectly. They offer a nice selection of salads. The pecan pie was wonderful.

Our Easter Brunch was very enjoyable and a memorable experience. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the food, though there were some oddities based on our preferences: The muscles were perfect, though the escargot was rather un-flavorful. The steak was perfect, but the fries were overly salted, large wedge french fries rather than pomme frites. Again, these things did not detract from the meal or the experience, they were just observations and constructive criticism. Vive la France

The food is among the best in the Greater New Orleans area. The French Chef Owner is always present in the kitchen and he insures that nothing but the best will be allowed to leave his kitchen. This is a small well appointed restaurant where the Chef and his wait staff guarantee that the meal and service is well attend to and properly served. The wine list is limited because of storage space but there are enough selections for dinners to find a nice wine to enjoy with their meals. We travel extensively and this a truly a gem when you are visiting New Orleans. It is about 20 minutes from Downtown hotels but well worth the trip.
