Chart House Restaurant - Tower of the AmericasAwesome wait staff!The wait staff is the most professional of any that I've come across in years. Our young lady was very attentive and able to explain any dish on the menu in great detail. We started with a shrimp fondue appetizer, which was really good, followed by shrimp trio and a grand marnier souffle. And the view is stunning. We had planned to see the observation deck but they had a special event so we could not. It was our 54th anniversary and the food and dinner was great, we just did not get to complete our night. The atmosphere and view were great. The only sub par part was the wait staff. Our waitress would disappear for 10-15 min at a time and we would run out of drinks. Even when we saw her she wouldn't even check on us. We finally had to flag her and another waiter down for drinks. The sad part was that the restraurant wasn't even crowded. The food was very good and the service was great. After lunch, we went down to the observation deck and then took great pictures with all the water features and fountains at the base of the tower. We went at 8 pm on a Sunday night and thoroughly enjoyed the sunset in the restaurant. Upon our arrival and lift up to the restaurant, we were seated immediately. The server came around every once in awhile, but was always there when we needed him. The dessert we ate was the lava cake and every bite of it was delicious. For the price and time waiting for the cake, we both wished it was bigger. It was shareable, but we both wanted more. Made reservations a couple of days before, went smooth and received a conformation. Made some changes on my times and it went well. Arrived on time, and went up to the restaraunt. WOW what a view. I didn't know that the restaraunt turns as you are eating, that was real nice. We ordered a few mixed drinks which were real good and then ordered our food. My better half had seafood and I had a steak. (They were out of Ribeyes, which is the first for me) Order me a nice size New York strip. Everything was delicious, they messed up on my steak order (cant eat the blue cheese, sorry) but the manager took care of it right away. Mine (Swordfish) was a bit spicy and caused a bit of a stomach upset later that night but tasted very good. My wife's Salmon was - according to her - OUTSTANDING. We even had personalized menus! We had a perfect little booth right next to the windows. Nothing could have been more romantic. Our server, Carlo, was courteous, pleasant, and knowledgable. He even took our picture. The food was delicious. The view was very romantic. We went upstairs to the observation room afterwards and read about the history of the area. We were first timers so we were not aware that "we were actually moving". 75 floors up and in full rotation. Crystal our server was awesome, the seafood platter that she recommended was great. We did not order our desert (which because of the fresh preparation takes 30 min) until the end of our meal, but Crystal was very attentive and placed our order without hesitation. During our wait, I asked her what time did they close, and she said 10.. It was already 11! Most waiters would have shown some sign of irritation, but she was extremely courteous and professional. I like that the courses of the meal were spaced out so you actually have time to enjoy each dish. Couple complaints however ... I found I had to repeatedly ask for refils (not what you'd expect in a gourmet cousine) and the appetizer dish (calimari) was soggy and substandard. The entrees were okay but certainly not worth the skyhigh tab. View is great from this height, but not as spectacular as the Space Needle in Seattle or the Sydney Tower in Australia. Food was very good but wouldn't say exceptional by any means. I had prime rib. The restaurant went out of its way to acknowledge our anniversary. When we entered, I was going to ask if we could be by the window so we could marvel at the view; but they already had us a table by the window with the most perfect view. The service was great, and the food overall was good.
