Diner Reviews
  • "I have eaten at several Chart House restaurants in other locations and was always impressed by the food. The Savannah location did not meet my expectations. The food was okay, but not outstanding and rather limited. I had salmon with green beans. No bread was provided. $27.00 for "okay" salmon is disappointing considering the location. Service was slow throughout the restaurant. At 8:30 pm on the deck, no one seemed to have any food. We were all just sitting and waiting. Would not recommend."

  • "We spent a quiet and enjoyable evening at the Chart House Savannah during the Music Festival. The food was great, the atmosphere romantic. Service a bit slow, but very professional. A great dinner spot."

  • "The Chart House overlooks the Savannah River just a few miles south of my boyhood home. Whenever I return to my hometown, I spend some time walking the places of my childhood and dining in one of the many restaurants along the river. Chart House is elegant, the food is always well-prepared and well-presented, the staff attentive. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal at the end of our afternoon drive from our home in Atlanta. We selected a table outside where we could also enjoy the sights, the sounds, and the bustle along River Street. Because of Open Table, we were able to secure a reservation using our cell phones as we neared our destination."

  • "Our dinning experience was from the middle to the end. Upon arriving to the Chart House, I approached the hostess( a young lady, short black hair with no name tag) and received no warm welcome or any attention at all. I walked up to the hostess stand and said, hello. She was so busy engaging in conversation with the other host that I stood at the host stand for one minute and counting with out being acknowledged. When she finally turned around she gave me a quick glance and looked immediately down at her computer screen asking if we need a table for two.I replied yes with a smile and informed her of my reservations at 8pm."

  • "A must to experience when in Savannah. From the simple fish & chips (beer battered and so good) to the steaks and chops you will not be disappointed. Of coarse the view! From the fantastic river front to the awesome interior of exposed brick and beams...really worth the money spent. Take a pedicab or walk. Parking is a bear on Bay or River St."

  • "Chart House has a good location on the river, but that's about it. My prime rib was tasteless, fatty and filled with gristle. There was a hue and cry about the baked potato that I substituted for mashed because they had run out of potatoes????I was offered grits instead but then the baked potato magically appeared; however it, too, had no taste. The service is helter skelter and can verge on the surly. Just avoid this place because there are so many better ones in Savannah for the price."

  • "The food was very good. We wanted sea bass that was shown on the menu but unfortunately not available. Apparently the shipment was late... They accommodated our gluten free diet and the food was not too bland. Service was very good. This is a 3 story restaurant and most guests ate on second floor accessed by stairs only. Restroom was on 1st floor so exercise was included! Priced at a premium more because of view than food."

  • "The porch upstairs is for dining outside. Unfortunately they do not have gas heaters and the night we were there was very cool. We opted for inside which is nicely done and feels very comfortable. Food was good and the service was excellent."

  • "We had eaten at the Chart House in Boston a few years ago while on vacation, so we were excited to find Chart House in Savannah! It did not disappoint!!! The food was exceptional! We sat on the lower level and while it was very nice...Next time, I would request seating with a view upstairs!"

  • "There are many great restaurants in Savannah and the Chart House is great. We have eaten at a number of Chart House Restaurants and most are closed now i.e. San Juan, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. We had a good meal of Crab Cakes but they were dark on the bottom. It is not the best in Savannah. We really found the best food at 17 Hundred 90 House."

  • "The food was excellent--well prepared, nice portions, served promptly, and just plain delicious. Our waiter was professional, helpful, and prompt. The atmosphere was consistent with the fine dining experience, noise level was low so you can actually talk with one another, and the view of the river is a real treat. It is more expensive than most restaurants, but definitely worth the extra cost."

  • "Strolling along the river walk we spotted Chart House, it looked nice so we booked for the following evening. We had seen some indifferent reports but, for us, they had no substance . We had an excellent dinner guided by our waitress, Dallas, and we shared a wonderful fried green tomato starter having been advised that one each would be too much - and it would have been! Our mains were lovely too - I had the fillet mignon with shrimp, and Maggie the coconut shrimp which she loved, albeit she couldn't complete the task. Be warned the sides are large, we had sizzling mushrooms, and creamed spinach which turned out sufficient to feed an army but were nevertheless delicious. We cannot comment on desserts - no capacity! Wine list was competent."

  • "The food was in general ok. I was a bit taken aback when my seafood dish came out to be very spicy. Would have been nice if our server told us ahead in advance. Otherwise ok in general"

  • "The service was impecable and the food delicious! What more could you want! We came with a party of 5, our table was waiting for us . White table clothes and a window view. We were a bit of a noisy bunch but had an absolute wonderful time."

  • "This is an OK restaurant that could be better but the wait staff is CONSTANTLY trying to sell you more. I can't remember a time some one came to our table that they weren't "pushing" something from bottled water to drinks to menu items. It would be nice if they allowed the diner to relax for a little bit. Also the constant up-selling gives the impression (probably true) that they are in a hurry to turn the table. That aside they have a nice building and great location going for them."

  • "A nice place to celebrate an important occasion. Seated quickly, with polite staff on a busy valentines weekend. Phone callers were being quoted a 4 hour wait, so well worth booking in advance. Five stars from us."

  • "We have always loved the Chart House! We are from Savannah and this is our favorite restaurant. The food is always great as well as the service. I ordered Mahi and my husband got the A hi Tuna...Both were very tasty! The hot lava cake is amazing for dessert also! I always recommend The Chart House."

  • "We went for a romantic dinner early on a Saturday evening, and were blown away! Our server was very attentive. Mango, avocado, crab appetizer was delicious, miso salmon was tasty. My husband said that was the best clam chowder he's ever had. We were overall impressed. We felt relaxed, the server never made us feel rushed to decide and was great at answering questions."

  • "I am going to send an email to the corporate office and explain that my wife's and I had the worst Anniversary dinner ever! I spent well over $150 PLUS tip for a terrible time! I have been a BIG fan of the Chart House chain for over 20 years, so I made our reservations nearly 2 months in advance knowing we were going to have a great Anniversary Dinner "NOT"! We ordered filets and not only were they WAY under cooked they were not PRIME (tough). We had to send my wife's back while I sat letting my meal go cold! She was promised a new filet but got the same one back with MULTIPLE cuts and it was STILL rare! I didn't make a scene I just paid our bill and left (EXTREMELY UNSATISFIED / AGGRAVATED)!"

  • "Our outstanding experience began the moment we arrived. The staff seemed genuinely interested in providing the best they had to offer. The window seat was waiting for us (a special request ). Our Server was very timely and gave great recommendations. We had the "lump crab, avocado, mango, stack" , Yellowfin Ahi, Georgia Peach Mahi, with a Lava Cake for desert. The food could not have been prepared or presented better. I will definitely eat here again."

  • "Not living near a Chart House we jumped at the chance to dine there while visiting Savannah. We were concerned that Valentines might prove difficult for the restaurant but we had no problems. Everyone was very gracious and helpful and the food was exceptional. good sized portions and beautifully presented. Of course the Mud pie dessert was the "Tour de Force". We can't wait to return."

  • "We shared the arugula apple salad and it was exceptional as were the crab cakes. I had the stuffed tilapia and it was good but nothing like the crab cakes. We also ordered the lava cake. It was good but would have been better had it come out hot."
