Chart House Restaurant - SavannahGreat Mother's Day LunchWe dined at the Chart House for Mother's Day lunch. We made our reservation for 2:30 because that was the earliest reservation available. However when we arrived, there were plenty of tables available. I would suggest just popping in if you can't get a reservation at your desired time. We've eaten there for 15 years, and it doesn't get any better - beautiful river view, astonishingly good food, wait staff that actually seems to enjoy serving us, and fantastic atmosphere. Stuffed Flounder was outstanding.
My wife asked the waitress if she could have another iced tea before we left (after our bill was given to us). The waitress gave a funny look, but did oblige. Don't know how we missed it for so long, but we will go back. Our waiter was a young man in training, and even though we could tell he was a bit nervous, he was delightful and attentive. The location of the restaurant was very good and the view of the river was also lovely. The waiter serving the table next to us shared history of the building we also found fascinating. I had the stuffed mushrooms appetizer which was loaded with crab meat and very tasty. For my entree the mahi mahi with peach and mango was delicious! We also added a side of the coconut shrimp and they were the best coconut shrimp I have ever tasted. I have a 10 second rule. I also taught customer service and one of the biggest things into acknowledge people. Those who took the time to physically come to your place of business have priority to those on the phone, on-line or employees. When the young lady finally addressed us it was with some annoyance. We were a little early and were told we would be seated closer to our reservation time. Fine, no problem. We were left standing, no offer to sit at the bar or there was a seating area that we could have been offered ( which we took by ourselves). I have fond memories of this restaurant being something that was different... it featured chart/map table tops (instead of table clothes), waiters in Hawaiin Shirts and topsider shoes (instead of all black), interesting art (instead of color panels lacking interest), large center table salad that everyone could share (intead of everyone having to order a separate salad like every other restaurant in the world). As usual, the food and service were exceptional. The view was especially good for entertaining the child so we could enjoy the food to the fullest. The King Salmon was one of the best entrees I ever had there, and so were the East Meets West and the crab mango stack outstanding appetizers. Would have sat outside, but too humid. Have eaten here numerous times, and almost always get the perfectly prepared oysters rockefeller. They never miss. This restaurant did not disappoint us. We ate dinner on the balcony overlooking River Street. The ambiance was wonderful, the service exceptional and the dinner sensational. On every trip, we look for a Chart House - a heavenly experience! Thank goodness the restaurants are consistently great and each is situated in a unique location.
