Chart House Restaurant - PortlandAmazing PlaceWent out with a group from work, loved the view, food was outstanding, and the view is breath taking! The service was right on and the dessert was just the cherry on top for us. I had a filet steak and it was cooked to perfection! I will be returning soon!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AM35th AnniversaryIt was our 35th wedding anniversary. While we've eaten at the restaurant before, this was a very special occasion. Our names and congratulations were on the menu! Wow! Nice waiter and wonderful meal. Even the valet asked how our meal was.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food and ViewSeated promptly on arrival. Our elevated table gave us fantastic views of the river valley, city & Mount Hood. Server was friendly, personable & funny. Our meals were all excellent & we left full & satisfied.
Pros:
- excellent sea food
- extensive wine list
- complimentary valet parking (I tipped the driver)
- AMAZING views of the city, river valley & Mount Hood
- great service
Cons:
- the prices were pretty high (paying for the food & view)
- valet parking was unnecessary
- a little difficult to get to if unfamiliar with the city
I would definitely go back, but probably only for a special occasion, as the price tag on the meal was a little steep. I would recommend everyone try it once, even if you are only in Portland for a short time.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmostSo I was taking my daughter,(age 40,2kids, who had just finished all her BScience classes an was accepted into nursing school), out for a congratulatory lunch. Our waitress was wonderful but there was a long 15-20 min wait after we finished each course. All the food was delicious except for my salmon Caesar....you could barely taste any Caesar flavor....minimal Parmesan....and 3 croutons. The salad was wilted and looked like it had been tossed early that morning. Very disappointing. My daughter's selections were everything I had hoped for and she felt pampered.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, slow serviceAs always, the food and views were wonderful. Unfortunately, this night the service was very slow. At one point the server asked us if he had the right table and needed to confirm he was to be waiting on us. This is unusual for the restaurant.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat 16th Birthday dinner for SonHad a great experience. Waiter was funny, attentive and added to the fun of the event. Everyone enjoyed their food, there was plenty, and lots of little boxes went home.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was excellentThe service was excellent with the exception - I was not seated immediately even though the restaurant had just opened and all of the tables were available.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for BrunchMy fiancé and I met another couple at the Chart House recently for brunch and it was great. On a clear, sunny day the scenic vista from the Chart House viewpoint is both stunning and beautiful. What a fitting backdrop for a wonderful and delicious brunch. On the day we visited, our selections included the Shaved Prime Rib Benedict, and the Traditional Eggs breakfast with pancake. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAs nice as this restaurantAs nice as this restaurant is, I felt it was tacky to present customers at the end of their meal to sign up for the points? program. It really cheapened the experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHats off to CHStaff was courteous and prompt, kept me in coffee as I waited for my delayed guest. Food was excellent, quite reasonably price. Loved the staggering view across the Willamette and the art glass inside. I'll be back!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, Good service OK foodThe setting is superb, overlooking the Willamette River from high on the hillside. The service was excellent, prompt, personable, but never intrusive (Trisha did a fine job taking care of us!) the drinks were handsome pours but the prices were commensurate, the meals were a mixed bag. Someone in the kitchen has learned how to cook fish very nicely, the two salmon meals were excellent and the tilapia was good as well. Sides were uninspired, asparagus was the size of small trees and tough. And the salmon evidently had to pay first class air fare to get to Portland from Alaska! The place is pricey! We come here on very special occasions and have come to expect we will continue to pay premium prices for a wonderful view and pretty good food.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wait staff is friendlyThe wait staff is friendly and timely the food has unique flavors
and is designed with presentation in mind. the cost is reasonable

We all had the chowder/sandwich combo, and it was great. It was a club sandwich, and, unless they have changed it recently, the sandwich during the week is a turkey sandwich. The ice tea is a fruity ice tea, and it is excellent.
The server was very attentive and helpful. Great morning all around except the weather didn't cooperate and let the mountains come out.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy children and I had dinnerMy children and I had dinner to celebrate my 50th anniversary. They were so impressed that they continue talking about the food! It was a very enjoyable experience for all.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, very positive experience.Overall, very positive experience. Food and service were very good!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a table of three. We were a table of three. 2 had prime rib and it was warmed up in broth or some reheat program. Not acceptable. However I had the ahi special and it was fantastic. But 1 out of 3 doesn't make it. Thank you!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEAster 2013Even as busy as they were on Easter Sunday, the staff was fantastic and did not look harried. The food was great and my coffee cup never went below half full. Exceptional.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGo back to the Great NY Strips!!!!!Something has happened in your NY Strips - the only thing I ever order. They used to be delicious but the last 2 I've had have been tough and not as flavorful. It's got me wanting to find another "favorite" restaurant! I used to brag about how Chart House's New York's were superior to anything else on the menu and had people agree after they took bites of mine. The last 2 have been embarrassingly bad. I wouldn't even think about doing the taste "test" with my friends.
Seems like you've changed suppliers. Fire them immediately!! Go back to the good one! PLEASE!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Shelf all the way andTop Shelf all the way and surprisingly not expensive. Our waiter was prompt and stopped at our table many times during dinner. The food presentation was great and the taste was excellent. We even went to the lower level lounge for an after dinner drink with another great view.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe haven't been to the ChartWe haven't been to the Chart House for years. My brother suggested it for Mom's 84th birthday because we used to go to Hill Villa years ago. I was not enthusiastic as our last two meals there were less that satisfactory. What a surprise we had. Professional wait staff, great food, quiet corner of the restaurant. Couldn't have been nicer.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a lovely ChristmasEnjoyed a lovely Christmas holiday meal with the family.
