  • "We brought a friend and she was so impressed with everything as we were. Everything from theomemt we arrived tell we left was marvelous. It was quite loud when we arrived. But after the crowd left the resturant was perfect. "

  • "With an enormous crowd on this special day, the staff managed everyone and everything with ease. We had a wonderful table, and although the place was packed, it was very relaxing and the food was fabulous. We had excellent service as well, and we appreciated the prompt valet parking. The staff was very efficient and friendly. "

  • "We have dined at The Chart House in Portland several times over the last few years for dinner. The service is excellent. The food is good. The wine selection could be improved. The view is fantastic. The bar has a terrific happy hour. This time I had the lobster bisque which was flavorful but salty and a small portion for the price. As an entree, I had a side dish of creamed spinach which was also tasty but salty. I love spinach. I would have had an entree but when we arrived for our reservations they sent us to the basement because our table was not ready. Happy hour was in progress so we ordered food and drink. By the time I got upstairs I was not very hungry. My husband ordered an entree which he enjoyed."

  • "Spent 2 fabulous hours at a window seat at the Chart House - Portland for our wedding anniversary. Staff from valet guys to our waiter Aaron were exceptional. Views were incredible including a bald eagle. Exceptional food. We had calamari (not greasy at all), clam chowder, New Age Surf and Turf and the prime rib with lobster tail. The server took the lobster meat of out the shell for us. Aaron our waiter was one of the best ever. I disagree with the one of the reviews that the is food is just OK for price. We have eaten at other high end seafood restaurants which were pricier. We thought the Chart House was great value for the money. They had our menu inscribed with a celebratory anniversary message, nice touch. Definitely will return! "

  • "As I had hoped, this was an excellent experience. We last went to Chart House about a month before we got married as a "date night." We chose this to celebrate the 6 month anniversary of our wedding and it was as great of an experience as we could have hoped. The service (from valet parking, hostess greeting, server, etc.) was amazing. Looking forward to going back soon."

  • "Fabulous selection of entrees. We were most impressed! Thank you. Loved the entree choices. Everyone was happy. "

  • "It's so sad - one of the best views in Portland is marred by consistently mediocre food. We keep trying this place every few years, hoping they have a new chef or something that will improve the food, and every time we leave disappointed. There are just too many great places to eat in Portland to waste your time and money here. Bring a picnic lunch and sit outside at the little viewpoint - it'll be a much better experience."

  • "If you have the money to spend it's a great place to go at least once. Food was great service was even better and the view is one to behold."

  • "The service and food was excellent. The view was breathtaking as sun was shining and we could see Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood. We are returning dorm another birthday in June."

  • "This place was great. My wife and I went there for our anniversary. The service was exceptional. The wait staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and they even personalized our menus!"

  • "I thought the food was excellent. The server was friendly. Service was not flowing like it should. our reservation was at 5 when the place is open for dinner and the staff were still setting tables and coming on shift. I thought as a diner that it was disconcerting to watch and it did not make me feel welcome or at ease."

  • "Another good meal at the Chart House, handled our group of nine very easily."

  • "Always love dining at the Chart House. Food was great, and service was excellent as per usual. Sitting at a window seat watching darkness fall on the Rose City was a plus!"

  • "Took excellent care of our party of 7. Best view in town. Food quality uneven."

  • "There is not a bad seat in this restaurant. Both upper and lower levels provide expansive views of the river and hills and comfortable seating for groups or dates. The Mahi was a tasty asian-style dish with a beautiful peanut sauce and soy swirl and the surf-and-turf shortrib and scallop combo was delectable. The mashed potatoes that came with it were worth coming back for alone with the perfect light blend of creamy and lumpy with hints of butter and spices. The lava cake to finish it off was just oozing with rich warm fudgy chocolate and the cool ice cream on top just quenched the passion enough to keep coming back for more. Attentive wait staff and open kitchen on upper level complete the enjoyment for the evening. Recommended!"

  • "Chart House has always had the best view of Portland and surrounding mountains. Great place to out of town guests. Place is a bit oid fashion modern 60 feeling but that ok. We went the for lunch, for average, not great by Portland standards. However, there is a varied menu with salads, sandwiches and fresh fish. Try the tuna appetizer which is great, forget the spring rolls which were dry and uninteresting. If you have a cup of soup you can easily split a salad entree if you want to keep the price down. Still a $50 lunch but it is worth for the view on a nice day."

  • "Great view in the evening. Should make reservation in advance to be sure have a table. At the arrival, if they have any table by the window available, they will accommodate you. The foods here are a bit expensive to eat here, but pay for the view and good service on top that."

  • "We have celebrated many memorable occasions at The Chart House and this was another very good experience. The table was set up for a window view as requested, the waiter was very personable and efficient and the nice touch on the menu of recognizing the birthday was unique and the food was delectable."

  • "We sat downstairs. We had a party of 7, with children ages 8, and it was the perfect place to seat us. We were near another table that had a large party and neither table were bothered by the other. Most places you need to be aware not to disturb other guests when you are a large party. The downstairs was quiet and we had it mostly to ourselves and it was nice to not be overly conscientious of other patrons so our large party would not disturb anyone. It was very relaxing."

  • "Yes, the view was really nice. The Caesar salad was crisp and tasty, but with unremarkable croutons. The shrimp and artichoke linguine was strange with what seemed to be an overpowering artichoke brine flavor that didn't jibe with the feta cheese, in my opinion. My companion's red snapper was bland, but the dessert-like corn pudding it sat upon was good. We told our server we would split the key lime pie, but no effort was made to facilitate that. It was impossible to cut through the crust without a knife. We had to use the coffee saucer for the slice that was finally hacked apart which meant the coffee that was oozing out of the side of the cracked cup we were given seeped out onto the tablecloth."

  • "The service was impeccable as well as the food. The artichoke starter was divine as well as the shrimp linguini!! And the view of the river was gorgeous! This is definitely a restaurant where a special occasion is called for !!!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our latest dinner at The Chart House. The view was amazing even though it was overcast and raining. About two-thirds of the way through dinner a large double rainbow appeared and stayed through the end of our dinner. It was spectacular. Our service was outstanding and unobtrusive and the two fish dishes we chose were well-prepared. We chose the Lava Cake for dessert which was delicious as well."

  • "Enjoyed our first visit to the chart house. We've always wanted to come in and used your $29 dinner menu as an incentive. We loved it and will be back to enjoy the rest of your menu selection, even without the discount, it was that good! Thank you so much!"

  • "Took my children to the Chart House for a special dinner. Everything especially the service was outstanding. We had a fabulous time. Thank you for making the time with my family special. Cheers!"

  • "Went for daughter's birthday. They were prepared with their best table, special menus and all management and staff wish her a Happy Birthday. The food was good and service was great. My daughter's steak was supposed to be rare and it was served medium well. The quality of beef however was so good my daughter chose to keep the steak and was very satisfied. Very professional and we had an excellent experience."

  • "I cannot say anything even slightly negative about Chart House - the cocktails were delish and well poured, the service was outstanding, the food was superb and well priced (this is a five star place so it's a little pricey but well worth it). The wine selection, though for glasses was a little limited, was very well paired with everyone's meal. Definitely going back."

  • "Best view, excellent service, give food 8 out 10 but would definitely return."

  • "The restaurant has, without a doubt, some of the best views in Portland. However, the food was a little lackluster. Our caesar salads were limp and entrees underseasoned. At least there were salt and pepper shakers at the table. There was nothing wrong with the food per se, but the food was exactly what you would expect at Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden, but pricier. The service was also very slow, albeit courteous when present. I appreciate when restaurants encourage patrons to drink or enjoy the ambience, but the server visited us so infrequently we barely got to order two drinks."

  • "We had a business dinner that was not a good one. Service was slow especially when we were finished with each course and dirty plates sat and sat while we watched empty handed served glide by. I ordered a filet and asked if it was "center cut" to which she said yes. Either the waiter did not know what center cut was or she didn't think I knew what it was. The bright spot was the jumbo prawns. I wish I had ordered that for an entree. Landry has some work to do here. I will watch reviews before I return."

  • "Kelly our server was friendly. Lots of choices on the menu including the Dine out month menu. Variety of drinks from the bar. Delicious desserts."

  • "This is the best view in Portland. We also had a wonderful and attentive waitress. The food was pretty good too! Try it."

  • "I recently had a business dinner at the Chart House with out of town guests. The views were absolutely amazing from our window side table. The appetizers of Shrimp cocktail and Oysters were fantastic! Large prawns amazingly fresh reminded me of the best seaside restaurants. Our next course included splendid Gazpacho Soup. All the entrees were spectacular and robust with flavor. It is nice to see that even though Portland has so many restaurants fit for foodies, a "chain" as the Chart House can still step up and play ball with the big guys! Job well done!"

  • "The food and beverages are good and the view is one of the best in town. The service is excellent and valet parking handles the small parking area, so there are no worries."
