  • Private Party Facilities: We have semi-private areas of the restaurant that easily accommodate groups of 15 to 50. All areas of the restaurant have fabulous views of the Monterey Bay! Available during the day for parties of 50 to 140 guests until 4:00pm Sunday thru Friday & until 3:30pm Saturdays & Sundays. The restaurant is available with limited availability for complete buy-outs.

  • Parking Details: We have a small private lot (complimentary) across the street from the restaurant for our guests. In addition, there is on-street parking available (metered) at the cost of $1.00 per hour. After 8:00pm street parking is complimentary. Diagonally across from the restaurant (north) there is a public lot with fluctuating rates.

  • "My husband and I chose to eat at the Chart House to reunite with dear friends after moving away 3 years ago. The view was amazing (we had a window table) and the server, Jordan, took very good care of us all evening! The food was unbelievable!! One of our friends had never been to the Chart House before, and he is now hooked! We cannot wait to come back to Monterey to visit and dine here again!"

  • "We arrived on time, were asked twice if we had a reservation then were told there were 3 parties ahead of us. While waiting a party also waiting said they too had that same time but had arrayed earlier. We were seated before them! The noise was high and wait staff seemed polite but rushed. Wait time for cocktails was about 20min. with appetizers coming ahead by 5min. In spite if being ordered after. Our wine arrived about 10 min after that then 15min later our waiter announced it was his break time and introduced his replacement, but I observed him at other tables for the next 10min or so. Our main courses were delivered then he came to check 5min after. Not sure he got his break. Cioppino was ok, crab too soft to crack so messy."

  • "This is still one of the most beautiful places to eat. The service is great and the food is outstanding. My favorite was the peanut sauce with the halibut. I think it helps to be a Landry's member. You get little special touches like personalized menus. It is a must-stop in the Monterey area."

  • "We loved everything! The view from our table as the sun went down was great - and the food was delicious, especially the tilapia I had. But best of all were both desserts - we ordered and love mud-pie but we also tried a bite of our friend's lava cake. OMG - that is amazing - but we'll probably still get mud-pie again next time because you make the best mud-pie in the world and we always pick desserts with coffee and chocolate."

  • "This is a VERY GOOD restaurant. It is not outstanding, and I don't think they have ambitions above current level. Early Friday morning we booked a table for five persons at 5 pm. We got a great table; a round corner table "hanging over the ocean" in the far end of the restaurant. This is an upper scale restaurant and menu/ price reflects that. They have a great gluten free menu and are very flexible concerning any individual adjustments. The view is fantastic, we saw otters, seals, dolphins and even a small whale from our table during dinner. Kids were exited. Our waitress was tentative, professional and personal. Being a bit pricey, for us this is a restaurant for the special occasions and a great place to bring visitors to Monterey."

  • "We chose the chart house to dine on the evening of a busy day during Monterrey Car Week. Unlike all the events, it was pleasantly quiet, gave us a nice view of the bay, and offered very good seafood. A relaxing respite. This is clearly a special occasion place - they asked if this were a special event for us, and others around us seemed to be celebrating their own events. It's not inexpensive, but a nice find in amid a busy touristic event."

  • "We were staying at the Monterey Bay Plaza Hotel which was right next door to the restaurant. Had an ok view. Mostly we looked at the side of the hotel. Would have liked to been out on the center edge better. Ambiance was great. Linen tablecloths. Service was a bit slow and I felt we had been forgotten."

  • "We are long time diners at this restaurant and I had out of town family visiting with a child who was really looking forward to seeing otters out of the windows. I requested a day early on open table when I made a reservation. We arrived early as I know its hard to promise a table when you are late. They showed me to a table in the back by the wall in the dark! I refused it, we ended up in a table next to another table but not by the window. We spend a lot of money at this restaurant and bring friends and family here often for the food and the views. The server told us, the windows were first come, first serve, then WHY HAVE A SPECIAL REQUEST BOX ON OPEN TABLE???? THEN YOU IGNORE IT! Not happy with the attitude at this restaurant anymore."

  • "We went here for dinner and there was a large group dining at several tables and they were obnoxiously loud. We could barely have a conversation due to the noise they were making. The lobster bisque was great, creamy with chunks of lobster. I got the potato covered sea bass and it was awful. The potato tasted like something that was cooked in very old oil and the sea bass completely lacked flavor. There was absolutely no seasoning, no flavor at all. The waitress was wonderful about it and the manager came over, even though we didn't ask, and they took it off the bill without us asking them to. So that saved the night. I would give them another try, and hopefully next time it won't be so loud."

  • "Had a window table watching the romping otters. Very nice. We are Landry members so got their VIP treatment , names on menu welcoming us. Food was very good. I had crab stuffed shrimp with hollandaise and medallians of filet mignon. Quite a nice portion and delicious. Took 1/2 home. Server was very nice but kept interrupting our conversation. She also did not know how to split a bill in half on 2 credit cards. Really?"

  • "We've been here several times before and the food is always good and the staff is friendly; however, on this occasion everything seemed to be rushed to get us out of there. We were on vacation and in no hurry but the entree was being served before we were half way done with our salads. Since we were celebrating birthdays, the complimentary dessert was brought out right as the entries were being finished without asking if anyone else wanted a dessert."

  • "The Charthouse was fantastic! It has a great salad bar and excellent food. I'm pretty picky about steak and I ordered the teriyaki sirloin. It was cooked to perfection! My husband had the salmon and he lived his meal, too! Suggest making a reservation as we luckily did but others who didn't have one were turned away."

  • "The food was good, and our server very pleasant. Unfortunately, she was soon given a very large party who monopolized her attention and we were left hanging. It took a quite a while after we were obviously done eating for our dessert order to be taken, and then a long time to actually get our dessert. Meanwhile, the manager paced back and forth all evening, but never once stopped to speak with patrons about their experience, or do anything to expedite the fact that we were just sitting there waiting, and waiting, and waiting. It was our anniversary, and this sort of brought our celebration down a bit."

  • "While part of the Landry chain of restaurants, the diverse menu delivered. We were a group of six that had entrees ranging from Steak, Prime rib to two different fish entrees. All enjoyed. Ask for a window table, beautiful view looking over the ocean. Nice wine list, we enjoyed nickel&nickel cab, and two different whites. Reasonably priced for the selection."

  • "The decor and food are both very dated. My husband got a crusted mahi dish, which was good. I got a simply prepared halibut, which was overcooked and dry. I said something to the waitress who offered to replace it but then realized she was out of all the options that interested me so I ended up declining a replacement dish. She didn't offer to remove the charge (which is what any self respecting restaurant at this or any price point would do) or even comp our drink, appetizer, salad or dessert. We had an amazing meal the next day at another restaurant, which included halibut, was less expensive and entirely superior."

  • "Been here a bunch of times over the years and this time they let us down. Only one meal out of four was very good (coconut shrimp) while the seared mahi was dry and seemed broiled with no sign of a sear. The tilapia was pretty good but the jasmine rice was bland and dry. Finally, the crusted mahi was small and the peanut sauce was a little too sweet. Though the reservation was made a week in advance on open table we were placed in a back corner near the waiters station with several open tables elsewhere, it was obvious they were spreading tables amongst the staff. Service was decent but $200 for the meals with only waters was not nearly worth it given the number of high quality restraunt a in Monterey. I may go back?"

  • "With the no reservation rule for window tables, we made an early reservation. The dining experience was great except that we were guided to the worst window table first next to the bar wall and looking at the building next door. When I asked to have an empty better one, we were asked to stand in the isle while he "checked". We got the better table, but with the first come first serve rule about view tables, why should I have to ask?....Want a tip??? Other than that little twist, the evening was a 5."
