Diner Reviews
  • "Only good part of this experience was the view. Food was average, service was not attentive and slow. Water glasses were empty and entree took 1 hour and 15 mins to arrive. Tourist trap. Better locations for locals."

  • "This restaurant has been a favorite of ours for quite a while. The seafood is always fresh and well prepared, and the service is excellent. It's a bit pricey but worth it since we always know we will come away happy."

  • "Expensive and food is very ordinary. NY strip was overlooked and very dry. I've had tastier steaks at Longhorn for one-third of this price."

  • "Really Bad service leading all the way up to the fanally of wine spilled all over literally from head to waste. With manager and waiter just looking at me while dripping with wine not helping"

  • "Wonderful view. Extremely accomodating & attentive service. Excellent birthday dinner for my wife. Menu was specialized to welcome us at the top and wish her a Happy Birthday. Its the details that count!"

  • "Nice restaurant overlooking the water. We shared a plate of crab, shrimp, vegetable fritters with a roasted corn avocado salsa and Kim chee sauce. Looked good and tasted yummy. He had the Prime Rib Chart House cut 10 oz. served with reg. mash and two sweet potatoes chips. We added a side dish of mushroom which turned out to be big enough to share. She had the Snapper Hemingway Parmesan encrusted, topped with jumbo lump crab (in very small quantity) served with coconut ginger rice which only tasted ginger on top. The vegetables in the rice may have been either overcooked or the frozen kind. He loved his beef. She found her fish flavourless. The Pinot Grigio was very cold but good. The Pinot Noir was excellent. Their choice of beer was poor."

  • "Restaurant featured a varied fish menu and was well prepared. Classy presentation and tasty salad bar. Easy to talk and elegant atmosphere. Waitress and receptionist were not as professional as the restaurant. Overall an 8+ out of ten and great for special occasions."

  • "Longboat Key is one of our favorite places to stay to get away from all the fast paced Orlando crowd. The Chart house has been our spot to dine every time we stay in the area. The food is always amazing including the overall experience. This was our honeymoon dinner which made it a special night.. After noting that detail to the waitress, she never congratulated us and never really made it a special experience. After wanting to buy a bottle of champagne to celebrate this milestone in both of our lives and requesting it from our waitress and never receiving it kind of gave me a sour taste in my mouth about our experience. I have told my Wife that we will be taking our business elsewhere from here on out and trying new places."

  • "The Charthouse is my alltime favorite rest ever and this dinner validated that thought."

  • "I had heard great things about the Chart House. My warning should have been that people only talked about the salad bar. The NY strip was flavorless and less than tender. The tuna was just ok. My daughter's hamburger was a brick...beyond well done. The best thing about the restaurant was the view of the water and dolphins."

  • "This restaurant has always had top choice food. Service was also upper tier. Tables are a little to close together for private conversation. Otherwise can't find areas for improvement."

  • "Great place to dine...view great, service great and food great."

  • "Service was not as before. Slow, not attendant, failed to deliver wine with meal, did not apologize for not bringing my drink! Bar service to our table before ordering our dinner was slow. I think the server was not feeling well or just had a bad day?? Food was good, but the server deterred from our having a good evening with my daughters family who were visiting with us. We had six people including 2 teenagers."

  • "We ate at Chart House when visiting the area two years ago and had a perfect meal. Expected a similar result and our party of four came away wanting to know what the heck happened to this place. The good: The filet and the medallions were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The caesar salad tasted like any other caesar salad and the crab bisque was good but tended to have a bit too much sherry. And I typically love creamed spinach but theirs wasn't anything special. The bad: Our waiter recommended the Pine Nut Crusted Shrimp Linguine and I literally choked on the pasta going down because it was so dry. Service was s-l-o-w. Expensive but worth it only if you order steak and if the service improves."

  • "We went to the Chart House before and their salad bar has fewer choices now. I ordered a grilled fish cooked with an olive oil. They brought an overcooked sauteed fish macerated in the shallot butter. I think they should focus on the quality, not quantity. The tables are cramped together so the noise level was unpleasant. The service was very nice, our waitress was pleasant and professional. Overall, we would not recommend this place for a fine dining experience."

  • "We went with a younger couple to celebrate their visit. It is beautifully located and we enjoyed the view before dinner even though it was after 7:00 PM. The reception was cordial but the waiting area is restricted. We asked for a window table and waited about 15 minutes for it. The table was nicely situated, overlooking New Pass. Service was acceptable, the food was well prepared and presented. The selection of fish and shellfish was not spectacular, being restricted to the usual Mahi, Tuna, Swordfish, Salmon, Tillapia. The salad bar was varied but not extraordinary. Prices were in the upper bracket. Noise level was moderate, not low. All in all this is a good place for business gatherings but not a gem in any sense."

  • "Been at the Chart House a few times over the years. Nice spot with a very good menu. Is a step up re: attire. Can go casual, but you can also step it up if you want to. The food was very good - which was not a surprise. Our server was friendly, but had to rate service fair. The lag between every course and drinks was far too long- especially for entrees. The Server apologized as she brought them, which was nice- but again the Chart House isn't a cheap night out. This was kind of late in the evening- our entrees were served well after 8 PM (with serveral open tables around us/service should have been better). We passed on desert as we just did not want to stay seated any longer- there are great spots to go and that was our desicion."

  • "Our food was delivered by someone other than our server. After that, we did not see our server until we were more than half way done with our meal - she missed her "check back". As a result of this she was not aware that one of us needed a steak knife for our entrée, we needed refills on our drinks, or if we were happy with our meals in general. When she finally came to our table to inquire about our meal, we were three quarters finished. We asked her whether she had forgotten us, by that time the damage was done. This is not the type of service we have become accustomed to at Chart House. Sadly, we left the restaurant dissatisfied with our overall experience."

  • "My husband and I recently went to the Chart House for the first time to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. We made a 4:30pm reservation since we had to be home early to relieve the babysitter. It was already very busy when we walked in at 4:20. They had great happy hours specials, but you could only get that price at the bar. So that was annoying. Other than that, everything was great. My filet mignon was delicious. My husband's salmon was tasty. We also got the lava cake for dessert. It was good, but not as good as I had anticipated. The chocolate cake was gritty. We had a great view. Table was right beside the window. We watched the dolphins swim and play. It was amazing!"

  • "Love the food and atmosphere. Excellent dinner again however table service was subpar this time. Not sure if he had more tables than he could handle but his attention was scattered at best. Extremely slow (unacceptable) at taking and delivering drink orders. Had to ask twice to receive additional dinner roles. Was unable to catch his eye for questions and requests. All that said, I will return as I think their food and food choices are exceptional."

  • "We love the Chart House and go every time we are in LBK, BUT, this time it was a disappointment. We started in the bar for happy hour, placed our order with two different servers and still never got our drinks or food. Our server was stressed out and told us he was ready to quit. Our server at our table was delightful. The food was mediocre. It wasn't hot and the sliced veggies were bland and soaked in oil. Not the quality of dinner we are used to having there. In terms of the room, more than half the lights were burnt out in the large chandeliers. Created a dingy atmosphere that lacked pride of ownership. Don't know what is going on there but something is broken and it needs to be brought back to how things were."

  • "We found it was a delightful all around experience for taking guests. Beautiful view, fresh salad bar. Loved the early bird specials. Will definitely return."

  • "Lovely spot. We were given a choice table. The food was very good, expensive. Drinks are all 2 ounces. When we arrived home we realized we had been charged for a more expensive menu item than we had ordered and eaten. Pays to really check one's bill!"

  • "Unfortunately for us it was an exceptionally large crowd for the "cheap booze and apps" the evening we were there. It was'nt a situation that totally ruined or meal, but It detracted form the experience because it slowed everything down and simply it harmed the view. The good news is our food was very good and we will be back."

  • "My wife and I took her parents now in their late 80's to Chart House over the weekend. It's a little hard moving around the restaurant when you have to go up steps but DONNA is a server you need to ask for! She made the evening for us - very knowledgable about the menu and knows how to make people laugh at any age. She is a gem I hope to visit again when we go to Sarasota."

  • "We went here for our anniversary dinner and were bitterly disappointed. All looked well until our drinks were served. For some reason our waiter would reach over/around me , pushing on my chair to place my drink. There was plenty of room for him to walk around the table to place drinks as he did when he took our orders. I had to get his attention to get other drinks every time as well. The food came out and my prime rib was one of the driest, flavorless prime ribs I have ever eaten. I mean I even pored the cup of au jue over the meat and it was still dry. Don't know where our waiter was when he wasn't standing against the wall but I ended up getting up and serving our wine to my wife and myself at one point. Don't waste your money."

  • "My wife and I discovered the Chart House restaurants a long time ago. Several times now we have planned anniversaries so that we'd be in driving distance of one of their locations. In our experience there have only been 2 restaurants we have repeatedly patronized which we have always been consistent in the excellence of their food. The Chart House is one of them."

  • "Experience was mixed this visit, my wild caught salmon was nicely prepared but another's grouper was fishy and was replaced with tilapia, when it finally came everyone ,of course ,was finished. My husband ordered med. rare filet and it was medium, he did not send back. Layered strawberry and beet salad was good and creative but maybe too much going on."

  • "We had a delightful exprience at the Chart House. We were seated immediately when we arrived, even though we were a few minutes early for our reservation. Our wait person, Amy, was warm and friendly, and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. Everyone in our group of four was pleased with the drinks, food, and service. The view is spectacular!"

  • "A very delicious dinner and delightful dining experience. Salad bar is fresh, attractive, served on chilled plates-wonderful selection. Early dining is a real bargain, Enjoyed our seafood. Ambiance is welcoming, friendly and "crispy" clean looking. Definitely will dine there again. PS And we noticed they refolded our napkins every time we left the table, Loved the crispy white linens."

  • "The service was poor, food subpar. We brought this to the attention of the general manager. He apologized and said it was not a problem to fix these issues. I believe they are more concerned about the money brought in by "snowbirds" and less worried about the quality of their food and service. We did not stay for a full meal. When the service staff throw the food down, without removing our empty soup bowls, we decided it was time to leave and not waste more hard earned money. Very disappointed."

  • "We had a reservation on a busy Saturday evening. Service by Katie was prompt, and she was knowledgeable about both the restaurant and the area. Katie took the time to answer our questions and continued checking our table throughout the evening. The view was great from every table. The bar looked beautiful and vibrant."

  • "The swordfish was rather dry and overcooked. And the asparagus were too big and chewy. But I absolutely love the salad bar and the stuffed tilapia with crabmeat was excellent as was duck pot stickers! Don't take those pot stickers off the menu! And we especially enjoyed the free desert for my girlfiriend for her birthday."

  • "I've lived in Sarasota for almost 10 years and I never made it to the Chart House until this weekend. I'm now wondering why I waited so long. What a gorgeous restaurant. The view is amazing and the food is equally impressive. It it's pricey but not so much that you have to use your life's savings to eat here. Take out of town guests here, they will be impressed."
