Diner Reviews
  • "Have eaten here once a year for the last 11 years while on vacation. Can always rely on competent waiters and great food. And with a view through the trees of Lake Tahoe! Note, The Chart House in Scottsdale is a different story. Will never go back to that one."

  • "This is our favorite Chart House Restaurant! The view of Lake Tahoe is spectacular! The food was delicious and I would recommend the shrimp, brie, and artichoke hot dip for starters! The pan seared scallops and the seafood platter with salmon, shrimp and crab cake were winners! Great wine list too! Robert Hussey"

  • "Incredible view. Service was incredible. Meal was very good."

  • "This restaurant had a great view, but unfortunately, we were stuck at a back table and could barely glimpse the view. The food tasted great. I had halibut, my dining partner had scallops. Disappointed in the wine menu. Since this is a chain it was no surprise that it was "ho hum" with nothing special - the usual big distributor labels. Happy hour is one of the highlights of this restaurant, but arrived too late to take advantage of that feature. Would return, but next time wait for a window seat."

  • "We traditionally celebrate our wedding anniversary with dinner at the Chart House. Nice to see some healthy green salads available. The meat was amazing as always. Hard to stay on diet. Our waiter "Gary?" was excellent."

  • "Our family has been to the Chart House in Lake Tahoe many times, but it had been many years since my last visit and this most recent visit was as wonderful as all the previous visits. We sat in the bar first and were graciously greeted by our bartender Ken who made sure we had everything we needed while we waited for our table. The transition from bar to table was seamless and our waitress, Meghan, greeted us quickly and happily. The view was stunning and every part of our meal, from appetizer to dessert, was fantastic. I had the Shrimp Linguine while my husband enjoyed the short ribs and salmon combo. I highly recommend finishing dinner off with the Molten Lava Cake (make sure you add the Reese's). It is divine! Couldn't be happier!"

  • "We had our anniversary dinner here on the 4th of July. The Service was wonderful. I had the Stuffed Shrimp (crab) and my wife had the lobster. Both were excellent. We started with a half dozen oysters on the half shell (not on the menu, but available) The best part, they turned off all of the lights for the Lake Tahoe fireworks show. They even had the music playing on the PA system. Thanks for a great memory and we'll see you next year."

  • "We were married in Lake Tahoe 35 years ago. We did not have dinner on the day we married because we could not afford at that time. Years later we dined at Chart House. When it was time to go back to Lake Tahoe for our anniversary we knew we would have a romantic and great meal. Thank you for making our day special with a lovely evening with a view and great food."

  • "Great food and fireworks July 4th. Our server Ali was wonderful!! The coconut shrimp are fantastic and so was the gazpacho. Salad bar is always full of fresh and enticing offerings!! Loved it"

  • "Lake view only if you are seated at the right tables. Noisy level too high for a nice dinner. Can't even hear my friend sitting across from me without shouting."

  • "Our dinner at hart house was wonderful. Even though it is not a family restaurant, it was certainly friendly to kids."

  • "Having been to other Chart Houses, we were very disappointed with this one. The food was average, the atmosphere mediocre, and our waiter seemed inexperienced and poorly trained. Considering the premium prices, we expected more, or at least what we had encountered in other locations. Know we will not return."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Beautiful views and great atmosphere. Nothing outstanding about food. Standard fare. Not gourmet. Over-priced. Would only go back for te views."

  • "I brought my wife to the chart house for our first anniversary. It was amazing! His was not our first visit. So when our special day came, I knew where I wanted to take her. The food was outstanding! The service was quick without being rushed, very kind and respectful with a little laughter mixed in. And the views are breathe taking! They even printed a congragalatory message on our menus. All in all it was an amazing and wonderful way to spend our first anniversary."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner (23 years) with friends. We were seated at a table with a spectacular hillside view overlooking Lake Tahoe. The food was excellent as was the service. This was our third visit to this location, and we will return on our next trip to Tahoe."

  • "Our evening at Chart House was excellent; the hostess was exceptionally thoughtful in providing personalized menus. Our server Nicolas was very accommodating and attentive! We will definitely request him the next time we dine at Chart House. Three of us had the crab-stuffed fresh tilapia .... yummy. Nicolas checked with the chef to see if the Chicken Romano could be ordered, even though it was not listed on the menu. It could be! That effort was much appreciated. As always, the lava ckes were fabulous."

  • "Margaritas were superb, even better than any from New Mexico. The scallops were fork tender with a delicious sauce. A perfect ending to my stay in Lake Tahoe."

  • "Our family (6 adults, 1 teenager, 1 pre-teen, and a 5 year old) celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. The food, service, and ambience were outstanding. The menu even mentioned our anniversary."

  • "I am a local who visits the Tahoe Chart House quite frequently. Happy hour specials there cannot be beat. Dinner menu is superb! Fresh fish and meat is always cooked to perfection. The staff know customer service and always exceed my expectations. I have visite other Chart House restaurants and not had the same experience. Chart House Tahoe is the best because the people, food, ambiance and view cannot be beat. Go there for happy hour and to watch the sunset, or enjoy a nice dinner with your loved ones or friends. Love this place! Oh, and Natasha is a wonderful server, she served my parents and I June 22, 2014 and she is delightful. I recommend you ask for her!"

  • "Beautifully situated restaurant with great views of Lake Tahoe. Service was very attentive. Very nice selection of seafood and a wonderful salad bar. Thanks for the anchovies for the Cesar salad!"

  • "The food was ok, appetizers priced right but the entrees were a bit steep. The appetizer recommended by the waiter was ok nothing noteworthy. The lobster bisque was Ok as well. The entree, medallions, was overcooked and really pretty generic. I did see the filet at another table and it looked worthy of a try. The waiter forgot our bread. You pay for the view, not necessarily the food or service"

  • "This restaurant is top notch. I ordered baked stuffed shrimp which was delicious. My husband had the filet which was just okay. We did expect better. The Asian green beans were very tasty and the hot lava cake is a must."

  • "We are regulars at the Chart House but it has been years since we've visited. From the Prime Rib, the shrimp, the Clam Chowder and the special Mahi Mahi, EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!"

  • "If you're looking for some good steak or seafood, the Chart House is the place for you. Oh, did I forget the amazing view of Lake Tahoe? The restaurant is situated a couple of miles up the hill from Lake Tahoe Blvd and overlooks the lake. If you time it right, you can see an amazing sunset. I had the blackened halibut and it was outstanding. It was fresh and they will cook it any way you want (broiled, grilled, blackened, etc...) A little pricey but worth every penny. I highly recommend it."

  • "We made reservations for Fathers Day. When we arrived we were shuttled to a side room without a view, which is why we chose the restaurant. We feel that that we should have been given a choice of waiting for another table. Had we known that they would not guarantee a view table, we would have made other plans. We dine out a least once a week with friends, and we all agreed that this was our worst experience. While we all thought the meals where excellent, we left with a bad taste in our mouths."

  • "Went on a recommendation by a family friend. Was also told me make a reservation. Made a reservation and still waited about 20 mins and over head a server telling a customer it wasn't even their busy time. I ordered the filet- it was chewy and not very tender. The other person I was with had the prime rib, which was buttery and delicious, and the lobster tail. The lobster was awful. It was super very rubbery and had a very strong mineral & fish taste. We also chose the lava cake. It was over cooked. There was no "lava" the cake had been cooked all the way through. The service was great though. Would not return or recommend to anyone. Maybe ours was a rare experience."

  • "About 10 years ago we decided the great view of Lake Tahoe wasn't worth the mediocre food. We decided to take a chance when another reviewer mentioned an improvement. Besides the basic steaks, seafood, & dessert, the restaurant offered more creative items like pea & edamame potstickers & Asian long beans, all prepared deliciously. We are putting the Chart House back on our list of favorites."

  • "my wife and i were celebrating our anniversary the entire process from reservation, to table, to dinner, to departure was outstanding. Our waitress showed great attentiveness (not too much not too little). The food was excellent app, entree & dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The sunset view from our table was a bit difficult to see but it in now was made our time any less enjoyable."

  • "This restaurant meets both conservative and contemporary tastes. Salad bar could be more interesting. Menu and corresponding food very up to date and pleasing. Prices are fair."

  • "No matter which city we're in when traveling, if a Chart House is there we always know the quality of their food is consistent. We arrived late in evening in South Lake Tahoe. We hadn't visited the area for a few years but last time we were there we dined at the Chart House. The view is outstanding of the lake from the mountain the restaurant sits atop. And watching the sunset as we had another incredible meal made it so memorable. The salad bar is the best and only wished Portland still had theirs! My tilapia was grilled to perfection sans the lemon butter I asked them not to add (trying to eat with less butter!). Our server was incredible and catered to our every request. Another fine meal at the Chart House!"

  • "The Chart House is one of our favorite places to eat. Great views of the lake. Awesome service and food is great! A little pricey though worth it for special occasions as the food and service make this a place we have returned each time we visit the area. Fish dishes are really fresh. Filet is tender and juicy. Coconut shrimp appetizer is yummy. Breads hot from the oven. Salads are a separate fee and salad bar has some if the best selections we have ever seen. Servers take care of guests and know the menu to make suggestions."

  • "I came for my Birthday last year so thought I would bring my Husband for his Birthday. First off receptionist sat us in a booth, I asked if we could have the table by the window, she said no not now we need more staff to come in, huh?? Then Our waitress said I had to go get my own happy hour drinks from the bar, I got to bar as told and nice bartendar said its okay we will bring drinks to your table, Waitress unfriendly. Sine my birthday experience was good, I was not quite satisfied this last time around."
