Diner Reviews
  • "There's nothing special about this restaurant for a very pricey food. The Valet Parking guy is very nice. John the bartender seems in a bad mood. Cory did an excellent job serving us."

  • "We celebrated my wife's 45th birthday the other evening and the Charthouse is the only chain restaurant we will frequent. Love the architecture and setting (building was designed by Frank Gehry). Their food is always top notch and the service, ambience and views of the water are the icing on the cake."

  • "For reservation through execution, a wonderful customer experience."

  • "Excellent experience, great food and great service. Best part our anniversary listed on our menu. This made it even more memorable."

  • "My family & I have enjoyed dinner at the Jacksonville Charthouse a couple of times. The building is very interesting architecturally, with a great view of the harbor. The food was fresh, delicious, interesting, and impeccably presented. The waitstaff were very knowlegeable of the menu, and attentive without being intrusive. During both visits the chef came to our table, thanked us for the visit, and asked for feedback on our service. I can honestly say that both services were absolutely perfect! The ambience is classy, quiet & conversation easy, but certainly not stuffy. Highly recommended!"

  • "Chart House really outdid themselves! It was our 20th anniversary and they surprised us by printing "Happy 20th Anniversary" on the menu for us. Michelle, our serve was excellent! She didn't bother us too much and she helped us make great selections for our meal. The hostess and bus boy even congratulated us. It really shows how the individualize and personalize their service to their customers."

  • "Our party of 4 was seated next to large group. We should have asked to be moved. Noise level was off the chart. I'm in my 20's and couldn't hear the waiter or each other, nor could my older guests. The food was very good but didn't live up to the historical Chart House reputation. I'm not sure what other restaurants are in the area, but it appears that this is a local favorite, for the over 40 crowd."

  • "I took my husband out for Fathers Day along with another couple for the first time. Our waitress was not too attentive to us but the food was pretty good. I had the stuffed shrimp and my husband had the NY strip medium well. We also shared a crab cake for the appetizer. It did take a long time for us to get our food and it wasn't even busy yet. Our reservations were at 5:15 and the place opens at 5."

  • "We have been a long time customer of Chart House and typically enjoy our dining experience. However, the food is just not consistent. Sometimes it great, sometimes it's good and then it goes to mediocre. On our current visit we arrived to a sparsely seated restaurant. However, we were seated in a section that seemed to have all the tables filled. It was loud with several large tables. Our Server came by and welcomed us and took our drink order. As we looked at the menu we consumed the great variety of breads. The drinks arrived and then we ordered our meals. We ordered a variety of dishes including several fish and 2 Chicken Romano dinners. The fish dishes were not seasoned during the grilling process and the Chicken Romano was blah."

  • "We arrived early but were seated right away. The waiter was excellent and took care of us all evening. The shrimp cocktail was fabulous with a dry ice smokey presentation. My wife had the blue cheese crusted filet which was excellent. I had the Ahi tuna which was good but not quite as good as the steak. The lava cake desert was very good as well. I would highly recommend the Chart House for your special ocassions as they were outstanding for our 36th Wedding Anniversary."

  • "Loved the local mahi and excellent grouper! Paired with excellent wine and service, and the river view, we really enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning soon. The offbeat architecture adds to the experience!"

  • "The food was great but I was a little disappointed when my son in laws fish was not undercooked. Instead of receiving a new meal, the fish was recoiled. Then they forgot to serve the potatoes with the reheated dinner. I would have expected a new meal."

  • "We had a great experience with a large group. We'd go back tomorrow !!"

  • "Chart House used to be my favorite restaurant and I ate there frequently, but for some reason I had not been in several years. I would have to say I was disappointed and probably won't go back. It seems the prices have gone through the roof. My wife and I each had one glass of wine and the salad bar with our entrée and no dessert and our check with the tip was $145! Frankly it's not worth the money."

  • "This restaurant was nice. It was recommended to me by a coworker. The food was great!! The bar service was a little slow. I would definitely recommend it for a nice romantic dinner. "

  • "Having eaten at Chart Houses in Boston and Philadelphia I was looking forward to celebrating a milestone birthday on the river front Chart House here in Jacksonville. The restaurant offers a wonderful view of the St. Johns river. The service was attentive, but not overly hovering. The food preparation was not up to the standards of its sister restaurants in Philly and Boston. Our food was served at temperatures slightly above room temps and was not extraordinary. It could have been a lot better"

  • "The food and the drinks were the best part. The scene was nice as well, just make sure to get a table that is by the windows rather than behind one of their big poles. Service was subpar and it's not as upscale as I thought. Ok to wear jeans and summer dresses."

  • "Although the service was very good and friendly, the entrees were at best average but highly priced. Would not return since did not feel the quality of the meal warranted the cost. "

  • "A recent return for me after a 25yr absence, the Chart Hiuse still remains should tell it all about its abilities to survive. Only, one disappointment that struck me was the interior use to have window lined plans, and vine boxes draping from the ceiling. A part of the original architecture."

  • "Food was excellent. By the time it was over it did not feel like a $150.00 for 2 experience. I should not have to chase down my waiter on every drink refil. Sad that this day in age NO craft beers. People are tired of budlight. You are a food lover place. Time to expand into the missed business. Overall all was a nice evening. "

  • "I took a customer group here for the first time. Everyone came away very pleased with their dining experience. The food was excellent and timing of courses was perfect. None of that "wait 30 minutes between courses. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable of their offerings. He never tried to upsell us on anything...which was pleasant in itself. The view was not as good but at no fault of the Chart House. The view was obstructed due to the river walk renovations but still left enough of a view to allow the customers a good insight to the north bank/sports complex. Overall great experience. "

  • "Overall. Every item tasted great. When we ordered the Oysters Rockafellas we had to ask to send it back due to large chunks of shell that was left in the meal. Also when we asked for drinks from the bar it took about 15 minutes it seemed to get out drinks out to us. "

  • "Chart House is one of my downtown favorites! I love the bright scenic water view, the clean and modern interior, and general classy ambience. The appetizers are excellent, well-presented and portions just right for meeting with friends to share good food and drink wine. "

  • "Several people in our party of 7 had to send back food. It was either cold, overcooked or not exactly what we ordered. After all that, the manager never came over to talk to us to ask about what was going on so I got the feeling he didn't much care that there was a problem. The waiter replaced our entrees and that was the last of it."

  • "I was a tad disappointed that we didnt receive the special menus this year. Each year that we go for our anniversary we have a menu to take hime signifying the event... this year we didnt so I couldn't frame it. Other than that it was good as always and it's nothing the restaurant could do but the riverwalk is dismantled by the restaurant so we also couldnt walk by the river... disappointed. "

  • "I really enjoy taking my girlfriend out, but Chart House did not meet my expectations. I'm a super broke college student, and had higher expectations going into the restaurant. The atmosphere Chart House provided was horrible. Looking out the window of Chart House I saw 6 black cats running around, untamed flowerbeds, and a boardwalk that seemed to be waiting to kill over. The food was okay for the price, and the service was exceptional. "

  • "Went for a nice dinner out with fiancé and food was extremely disappointing. The appetizer was good but after that very disappointing for this level of restaurant. My filet clearly was precooked as if I was on a low end cruise ship. Lobster bisque was like something from a can. It was so disappointing. Our server was so great we felt to bad to complain and walked out spending 150 bucks on a meal I could have had much better food at a chain steakhouse with peanuts on the floor. "

  • "The restaurant was beautiful and the service was fantastic! The food was good but not worth the extra cost in my opinion. Sometimes you visit an expensive restaurant & it's worth every extra penny but I didn't walk away feeling that way here."

  • "My group is in Jax working long days so we decided to treat ourselves on Friday night. It was a bit noisy because of a group near us, but the food itself was good. I am not a seafood lover so personally I should have ordered the chicken. I ventured beyond my comfort zone and ordered the grouper, which as fish goes was not bad but I would have enjoyed myself more with food I really love. The hummus appetizer was awesome as was the lava cake. We were all very full from dinner, so sharing the lava cake was a brilliant suggestion from our servers. We had a group of 11, and our two servers did an excellent job of keeping glasses full. You will need to open your wallet wide for this place, but it will be fun doing so. Enjoyed the experience."

  • "I love the restaurant itself, Its beautiful, so walking in was great. We were a little early so we sat at the bar, I just assumed the lady would say a little about the drinks and what she recommended, but she didn't. We sat their for a while and then went and sat at our table. It was a nice surprise to see we had our own anniversary menu. We ordered the salad bar which we didn't know we could get up and get because their were no plates that we could see. The waitress just looked at us sitting their and didn't let us know" hey you can get your salad", I finally got up and found out myself, our food was cold, it tasted great but If you spend over a hundred dollars on two dinners you expect the best!
