Diner Reviews
  • "We loved our dinner and the views of the sunset are fantastic! "

  • "The Chart House was a good place for a dinner for eight. The round table was not too large, so conversation was easy. The views out to the water are wonderful. Food and wine were pleasing to all. We like the Chart House!"

  • "The server who is Indian was very nice. Although he tried a little too hard, he still did a pretty good job. Second time here and same as first, annoying people beside us. Nothing in the world is that funny to ruin our dinner laughing so hard out loud that we can't even hold a conversation. They did let me order the spinach artichoke dip which I love here. They say you can only get it at the bar, but the manager made an exception, although he charged us $13 to have it in the dining area instead of the bar."

  • "Bottom line: our server was abominable. We sat at our table (overlooking Skull Creek, which was beautiful) for 20+ minutes before anyone came to us. -- long wait times to order and receive, -- wrong orders -- annoying comments made by waitstaff (thinking he was being funny, but was rude - referencing us to another table about what we seemed to really like) -- poor timing on meal -- food was phenomenal. Get the crabstack appetizer! Excellent food and scenic view. It's just a saddness that someone so terrible and "commenty" is in charge of delivering it. We expected more from the Chart House waitstaff. The hosts were wonderful, by the way!"

  • "We have been to this Chart House a number of times. I won't get into a lot of the details but if this had been our first time there, I would never go back."

  • "Appetizers were terrific. The dinner was ok. Our fish was a little tuff. Service was terrific."

  • "We go here often and are never disappointed with the food. Despite the reservation and the restaurant only 50% full, we were placed at an elevated and partially inaccessible table. We managed but the server and wait traffic was annoying. Our server was good but her presentation was packaged and nasal, again annoying."

  • "We went to the Chart House on our first day of vacation because we had such good memories from our last visit 18 years ago. All was good , but not great. There is too much amazing competition on the island now to stay good, not great."

  • "We had a wonderfully delicious Anniversary dinner at the Chart House. The menu has been updated from last year and the selections were varied and hard to choose one item over another. Efficient service and ambiance make this restaurant one of the best on Hilton Head Island."

  • "We always come back to Charthouse because of the great food and service we receive. This time was for dinner and we come so we can enjoy the sunset. Good selection whether you come for lunch, brunch or dinner. Will be back soon."

  • "When making our reservation via Open Table I requested patio seating. The sunset view was spectacular."

  • "Good seafood fair steak asked for Pittsburgh not even close after my explanation"

  • "Would not recommend it at all. Over 40 minutes for drinks to arrive and the place was less than half full!"

  • "Went with 2 other couples. My King Crab was cooked perfect, but baked potato was not quite done. Wife ordered Lemony Grouper, then told they were out of Grouper for a 6:30 reservation. Substituted Mahi Mahi and wife said just OK. Other 2 couples came here with us for Valentines Day and 3 of 4 had issues with dinner then and this visit too. They vowed they will never come back. Server name on bill was Christopher, but a female. She spoke eloquently and politely, but her service was non-existent. We are Landry Select members but not sure if we will ever come back for dinner. Too many dinners and lack of service not worthy of the premium price charged."

  • "Our server was excellent. I ordered shrimp and grits b/c I had never eaten grits and thought this would be a good place to try them. Shrimp was delicious, didn't care for the grits and was offered a replacement, I guess I just don't like grits! My companion's fish was a little dry and tasteless. The Restaurant itself was spectacular and the view superb, would definitely return and order something different."

  • "Nice location, formerly Charley's Crab, with outdoor dining when weather is ok. Can get a bit noisy both in and outdoors. Good seafood selection. Mine was under heat lamp too long--red fish was good quality but overdone and dry. Trout was good. Medium rare prime rib came to the table just right. But au jus was cold and lifeless even with 3 attempts to get it right. Overall, this is a nice spot for a special occasion as prices are up there. Eg. most entrees are $25-$35. If you want baked potato and some asparagus, that will set you back another $14. Good views of the waterfront from most tables is pleasant."

  • "Our starters, soup and crab /mango/ avocado stack were good. Entrees fair a lot less well. The q'ed tuna was over oooked and the coconut shrimp was boring. Dessert of raspberry soufflé was not worth the wait being less than memorable."

  • "We went here for my birthday; they have a special 2 for $50 other wise the bill would have been well over $100. the food was fantastic as well as the view of the water. but i would hesitate to go here and eat off their regular menu. most entrees were over $30 and that did not include any veggies or extras. also their wine list by the glass was not extensive, they did not have sav blanc from new zealand which for a restaurant with these prices i would think is a big omission."

  • "While everything was fine, our experience wasn't as good as a couple of weeks ago in all areas. The snapper was a little overcooked and a couple of bites were 'fishy' tasting ... not enough to send back or complain, but not up to the standards we expect from CH."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Nice setting. Service was disappointing. Very slow, only offered Happy Hour menu, no wine list, no water, no regular menu offered. Happy Hour food menu "cookie cutter" of Las Vegas Chart House."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "We had two great new appetizers. The four plump fried oysters were crisp and hot right out of the fryer served on a bed of slaw in an oyster shell. The artichoke served three ways was tasty, plentiful, and interesting. It would have been enough for dinner but.......The grilled shrimp were very large and flavorful and the petite beef fillets were very tender with a lovely teriyaki sauce."

  • "Great food. The scallops & fried oysters were superb. Great place to celebrate a special occasion."

  • "This is the place to go for scenic peace and beauty! The food is also fantastic!"

  • "We had reservations, weren't seated for 45 minutes. There must have been a late afternoon event since the problem was that none of the tables were bussed. Tables outside were left dirty as well--we w/h/b willing to eat there. Two young hostesses just waved their hands in dismay and never even considered lending a hand. NO management in sight. VERY slow process for dinner--over two hours, and not because we were lounging. Every step was painful. How could the kitchen be so slow AFTER the earlier diners had left? When we finally escaped (after a very $$$$ dinner), the tables at the top still weren't cleaned off. Whassup???"

  • "Great location for a nice dinner. I had the shrimp & grits with a fine Italian pinot grigio. Service was professional and there was a nice water view. I eat a t Charthouse Restaurants around the USA a lot and have never had a bad meal."

  • "The Chart House is always a great time! The meal, view and service were all great. We had the 2-for-$50 meal and really enjoyed the parmasean encrusted snapper. Highly, highly recommended!!"

  • "It was cold & raining outside but by the fire in CH lounge it was delightful! The food was a bit disappointing though. Average Clam Chowder, blackened Mahi wrap. Sweet potato fries and cesaer salad were better than average."

  • "My wife and I always enjoy dining at the Chart House when visiting Hilton Head Island. Took advantage of the early bird menu during this particular visit. Nice choices and reasonable portion size. Our server Frank and his assistant Lawson were great. We will be back again before we head back home and look forward to future visits on next trip to HHI."

  • "I visited this location when it was Charlie's Crab and was disappointed to hear they closed however after my recent visit to the Chart House I found that this is still a must visit when in the area. Our waiter informed me that he has worked here while it was Charlie's Crab and as the Chart house and that they still have the same executive chef and similar menu. Everything was great and they also have a nice happy hour if you are interested in a pre-dinner cocktail. We will definitely revisit when in the area."

  • "The special touches recognizing my husband's birthday were wonderful. A special message on our menus, wishes from staff and dessert made it a great evening. We were not disappointed in the exceptional quality and service. We love the Chart House."

  • "Our time at the Chart House was quite nice.We had made reservationsfor our 36th anniversary. We were seated at a window table, which was lovely, as it was at sunset. No other 'special' mention or care was taken for that annivesary (unlike other restaurants we have been to in the past). My husband enjoyed his dinner thoroughly, having an entree with scallops. I enjoyed the crab soup (like a gumbo in some respects and the potatoes and asparagus were excellent. I had the prime rib, it was cooked to my request, pink and warm. However, i was very surprised at the dryness of it, especially as i have heard great things about Chart House beef dishes. It seemed no better than a 'routine' restaurant, which was quite surprising."
