  • "Sat outside overlooking the boats coming/going to/from Long Wharf. Service was prompt and efficient. The beefsteak tomato salad with blue cheese, bacon, and tempura red onion was superb. Lobster bisque included decent morsels of lobster in a broth with noticeable sherry... yummy. The bloody mary was plenty spicy and well garnished."

  • "Made a 7:30 reservation to celebrate an anniversary with my girlfriend, we found this place last year and loved it. Showed up about 4 minutes late due to traffic and we were not seated until 835... Next to a very unhappy large group who was complaining about poor service and how they had been waiting over an hour and a half already for their food. It took about 15 minutes after being seated before our server asked us if we even needed menus or drinks, do we ordered promptly. The drink orders were wrong, and our bottle of wine wasn't presented until 3/4 of the way through our meal. Our calamari appetizer took 45 minutes to come out after ordering and food took an hour and a half and was cold. Overall I was pretty disappointed"

  • "The appetizers were delicious: lobster bisque especially. Main courses outstanding: particularly the stuffed shrimp, lobster, and chilean sea bass. Chicken was dry and didn't have non-dairy option for butter. And, everyone has to have the lava cake at least once or life is not complete. Service was disappointing: had to ask for bread, coffee came 15 minutes after desert was gone."

  • "We had requested a quiet table with a view to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We received a table next to the stair case and no view. The noise level was okay and it was not too hectic with people coming up and down the stairs. Our server was okay but she did not seem to be aware at all that it was our anniversary however the hostess came over to our table and provided us with a menu which stated happy anniversary. We did not wait long for our food and she did come back to the table to check on us but we just did not receive the same treatment another couple received who was also celebrating their anniversary."

  • "The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, the service was very good. The only problem was when I ordered the lobster, the server had to take it from the table to crack it for me. In the meantime, my husband's meal was on the table & he had to eat it before it got cold. Bot overall, it was a wonderful dining experience!"

  • "The food was decent, but overpriced and horrible service. The spacing is terrible. I sat at a small tale for two and as servers passed they kept kicking my chair. I found that to be very annoying and distracting. The waitress was nice, but slow service. She never asked us if we wanted cocktails. Just very unfocused and unprofessional. She brought us only two pieces of bread. And as another server brought our appetizers, he took away my unfinished piece of bread without even asking if I was done. I was still eating the bread and was appalled that he just removed it so quickly. I ordered the crab for my entree. It came with a cold undercooked baked potato that as a result, was just inedible. We also ordered the lava cake which was overcooked"

  • "Our dinner reservation was scheduled from 7.45pm.We were still waiting at 9.00pm for our main course to come out. At 9.35pm I was told that the restaurant was really busy.. this is not a justifiable excuse. At this point not only was our dinner late but we would miss the last ferry home which resulted in us having to order 2 taxis. Miraculously our food appeared 2 minutes later.. My food experience was average I had the short ribs & salmon.. The meal was dry very little jus on the short ribs, mashed potatoes were solid .We knew the restaurant was expensive but we specifically picked it because we expected excellent food & service."

  • "My husband and I have been dining at the Chart House for over 25 years. Food was marginal at best but overpriced for what you got. Food cold when it came out. Waited 15 min for drinks and 45 min for food to arrive. There for brunch. Small portion sizes. Potatoes seemed like frozen potatoes from a bag. Ordered the French toast with fruit from the menu. Plain French toast (which was not on the menu) arrived and without fruit. The waiter had an attitude and told me I should have specified. Maybe he should have asked and mentioned there was another option not on the menu. The maple syrup in the small containers had a film on it and appeared to have been in the container for several days not freshly poured or warmed."

  • "We took the Salem Ferry to Boston for a lunch with travel friends. The lovely lunch we had was well worth the hour ferry ride. The soup sampler got the lunch off to an intriguing start. The cocktails were delicious. The short ribs , the salads, the crab cakes, the coconut shrimp were all perfectly presented. Coffee and cappuccino complimented the signature lava cake. The wait staff were very accommodating,"

  • "I would never recommend this restaurant. The service was awful, ignored all night and a very large language barrier to where the server just started at you rudely or didn't come over at all. The server was very nice but was clearly under trained. We had two meals, they came out 5 minutes apart. The runner just stood at our table not saying a word until we grabbed for the drink. Order a mixed drink, the first one was water and the second one, seems out of spite, was all alcohol. Returned both of them. If you order meet beware that there is no marinating as described, just drizzled on the plate after until everything is flooded. Awful full bar service. No attention and was cut in front of by 3 servers who didn't say a word. Not worth money."

  • "We opted for a window seat, which is on the second floor. The air was stagnant and hot, and the sun was blaring in the window. Not as picturesque as I had hoped because the windows are small. Next time would opt for outside dining, since there was a nice breeze. Our server was great, food quality was delicious. Tables so close together, and was so loud, and difficult to carry on a conversation."

  • "This was my first time at the Chart House in Boston. I have been to Monterrey and Malibu. The clam chowder was delicious. The prime rib was tender and prepared as requested. The salmon was very good. It was a great spot for celebrating Father's Day."

We were celebrating her birthday this time and we hadn't been here for a while. when we got our check the manager came over and told us that last time we were there , we had an issue with something(we couldn't remember but he insisted) so he gave us a free dessert. Which was very nice of him."

  • "Recently had one of those days when a 2 hour flight turned into a 12 hour ordeal. Walked up to host 10 min before closing, warm and welcoming greeting. Ushered to great table and everything after that got better. The crab and avocado stack is a great creation, all elements in balance. The Boston Bibb lettuce variation on the traditional wedge was tasty. Being in Boston, I had to order the scrod stuffed with lobster. One great and relaxing meal after one of those "special" travel days."

  • "I'm a big fan of the Chart House and have been several times over the last 6+ months. As a history buff, I especially enjoy its place in Boston's Revolutionary War contributions. I brought a friend on this visit, explaining beforehand it's original use as John Hancock's business office in the 1770's and onward. Upon arriving, we were seated in the lounge, where several tables had been hastily set-up. I asked why we weren't being seated upstairs in the main dining room and was told that several large parties that evening were occupying most of that area. The lounge was somewhat cramped and very loud. The difference is night and day vs. the main room upstairs. Had I known they were in a over-flow seating situation, I'd have re-scheduled."

  • "We were visitors in a new city so we went to a familiar chain name restaurant. Pleasantly surprised it was not just a run of the mill chain, it was a wonderful find. Location was great on the piers overlooking the water, near museums and other sights. I highly recommend it for it's ambiance, service and food. Though we had one bad meal, the management did the right thing graciously offering us a re placement or dessert. The rest of us dined superbly on our meals and desserts. Thank you, ChartHouse for making our visit a highlight."

  • "We have been to Chart House many times and usually love it. This time however, our server forgot our cocktails and 25 minutes later when he brought our soup and salad we asked him about our drinks. He had clearly forgotten and then blamed the bar saying someone else took our drinks. He then went and got a manager to come apologize and spent the rest of the dinner "sucking up". It was a disappointing birthday dinner."

  • "The Food was delicious but I was disappointed with the service this time. It took twenty minutes to receive our first drink and the food took a long time too but our waitress caught a mistake with our check, we were overpaying and she informed us, that was very honest of her. I have dined here before and it has always been great, maybe they were under-staffed that night."
