Eli's TableDining experienceFood was average. Pancakes were soggy. Rest of meal was fine.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA neighborhood gemWe just visited Charleston for four days, we ate at Eli's table twice. We ate there three times, last year on our four day visit! We love this place. We have always eaten there for breakfast or lunch. The shrimp and grits are some of the best we have found in Charleston. The Low country fried oyster egg Benedict is out of this world.... And I don't even like fried oysters! I will not even mention the bottomless mimosas for $12. The prices are inexpensive for the quality and serving size that you receive.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTourist in our own townI went to Eli's Table with my parents and my fiancée. We are all locals and we were all impressed with the food. It was very Southern but with a twist. Sometimes chefs make changes just for the sake of being different but these subtle alterations made the taste and presentation come alive.
The staff all worked well together and were friendly and efficient without being obtrusive.
I read the other reviews and I would have to say that they must have taken the notes about ambience to heart because the dining room was inviting and the music choices were superb. We will all recommend it.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal all Memorial weekendEli's Table is relatively new am came recommended. They did not disappoint. All aspects of the meal including the manner in which they accommodated my daughter's vegan requests were professional. The location is perfect for an after dinner walk past very cool historical homes, churches and gardens. I will be going back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good mid-priced CharlestonVery good mid-priced Charleston restaurant. Fresh and cleverly created menu. Don't miss the Gorgonzola fondue appetizer. An interesting variation of the wedge salad as well.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food and service.although in downtown Charleston had never heard of it and have lived in Charleston for over 40 years. Nice find. Not too crowded or noisy as many downtown restaurants are . All in our party were pleasantly surprised by the food and overall experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find..Wait staff was attentive, food well prepared and very tasty. WIne list is splendid with mulitiple choices and all affordable.
Service was well-timed and friendly. Environment very pleasant, new outdoor terrace is terrific, outdoor entertainment delightful.
We'll return soon.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Good but PriceyWife and I were there recently. Really good food, cool and quiet in back courtyard area outside. Setting would have been great were it not for the green bud light umbrella's. Just did not match the rest of the scene at all! Great service, great food but a bit pricey for what you get. $33 for a fairly thin ribeye, with only side of asparagus? I buy and grill ribeye's twice as thick from Sam's Club at home, and just as tasty!
Had to pay another $8 for a side of whipped potatoes and pay another $8 for a good, but very small caesar salad. Found that a bit ridiculous, but still enjoyed the night. With so many phenomenal restaurants in Charleston, I am not sure I would go back until they drop those prices a bit.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice SurpriseWe had last minute out of town guests from NYC and this was one of the few reservations we could locate. What a nice surprise. The gorgonzola mac and cheese was great! Everyone enjoyed their meals and had dessert. Would recommend the flourless chocolate cake. Mixed drinks were a little pricey though.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMhidden gem close to market streetfriendly, professional staff, outdoor dining in a quaint and charming courtyard setting, pleasant music in the background, delicious options from cocktails, appetizers, entrees and even dessert. As a local I would DEFINITELY return for a romantic dinner. Not your "average" restaurant option and just blocks away from the hustle and bustle that Market St. and neighboring touristy streets sometimes represent on a busy weekend in Charleston.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose Eli's Table afterWe chose Eli's Table after walking by and thinking it was cute. They have a great local menu with low-country favorites mixed with local ingredients. We are vegetarian and found out about a vegan special that wasn't on the menu - it was fabulous!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE THIS PLACE!Wonderful food! Some of the best She-Crab soup I have had in Charleston. Also, the Grit-Shrimp cake is very good. Tons of wine to choose from. WONDERFUL service! The wait staff is amazing! The manager Gabe is very friendly and personable.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time dining here. LastSecond time dining here. Last time was about 1 year ago.
For some reason the food seems to have slipped a bit.
Still very good but not what it was.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous.Awesome. Chef came to the table to describe the upcoming spring menu. Great atmosphere that was very welcoming and not pretentious.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA fairly young restaurantA fairly young restaurant with a maturing staff. Mgr greeted us with a sincere welcome ; showed us to our table (gave us options), asked how we were doing, pleasing staff, I bought a tee-shirt, hands down can't go wrong dining here.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent experience,We had an excellent experience, from the service to the food to the ambiance4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall menu but solid food choicesAlthough the menu is not overly extensive, the items that are on the menu are wry well done. I went with my mom, who is an incredibly picky eater. There was only 1 item on the menu that she would even be able to order (roasted lemon chicken), not including sides, so I was nervous about her liking the food - she ate every bite and absolutely LOVED it! My only complaint was that the service was overly slow. I think they were trying not to be too intrusive, but even for someone who is relatively patient, it was a bit over-the-top in terms. Overall, it was a very good dining experience, and I have already recommended it to friends.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was fabulous....perfectlyOur food was fabulous....perfectly cooked filet and excellent sea bass that was local and fresh. Appetizers and sides (especially the Mac and cheese) were amazing too. Followed by pistachio cheesecake that was perfection. Our server Mark was fantastic. Glad we made the choice.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steak in Charleston!Great location in Charleston. My steak was excellent and service good. Baked caprice appetizer was unique,
very tasty and actually enough appetizer for two or entree for one.
We're vegetarians who also eat baked or grilled
fish and there weren't many menu choices. However, when we
Asked about vegetarian options there was a
very good risotto with grilled vegetable option
that was quite good. Our waitress was very friendly
and helpful. We ate early, prior to a concert, so can't really
assess noise level.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey, but the food is excellentPricey, but the food is excellent and the service is superb!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe baked caprese was amazing! The baked caprese was amazing! We ordered the duck, delicious and the rib eye, also delicious! They open at 5 on Sunday for dinner, we arrived a little early and they sat us and served us anyways. Very friendly. It's a small restaurant that is obviously pretty popular.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM...a very pleasant surprise!Eli’s Table is just around the corner from the Queen Street establishments that draw most of the attention...a very pleasant surprise! Arrived 15 mins before our 7pm rsvp. Waiting to be seated for about 5 mins, we were presented with glasses of champagne, and told our table would be ready shortly. Nice touch considering we were early. Seated at 6:58pm, still sipping champagne. Order pinot and cabernet sauvignon, and the shrimp and grit cake for app. Nicely done, great ham-and-tasso gravy. Main course Cajun ribeye for myself, bone-in pork chop for my girlfriend with garlic mash for the table. Ribeye good, porkchop was GREAT, cooked to PERFECTION. Overall enjoyable time, nice atmosphere, good service, awesome food. Impressed enough to return!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur table was not ready whenOur table was not ready when we arrived.
