Charlie Palmer Steak - DCThe service was outstanding,The service was outstanding, and the wait staff couldn't be more helpful!!!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbest steak in DCEven though I am a younger person (early 20's) I have been to my fair share of higher end steakhouses and thoroughly enjoyed every part of my evening there with my girlfriend. Would highly recommend and go back any time. Each course was a new surprise.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good ServiceI was concerned about the service given some other reviews I had read but we had outstanding service. Food was delicious and the ambience was great.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMbest steak house in DCMeat was superior - the kitchen took the same time and care with the vegetables, too. We were celebrating the end of another school year and were not disappointed!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful SurprisePicked Charlie Palmer out of a hat because it was near our hotel. Food, everything from salad, fish to dessert couldn't have been better. Setting was elegant with white tablecloths and friendly and attentive staff. Convenient to museums and the Capitol too. Some items a little pricey, but absolutely no complaints at all.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect SteakWe went here thanks to a gift certificate from a friend and had a great meal. Perfectly cooked steak and a large wine selection. Would definitely recommend!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinnerWe were in DC and decided to go to Charlie Palmer's for my birthday, which happened to take place while we were on the trip. The atmosphere, food and service were all very good. My only complaint for the night was that I asked for my steak to be medium rare and it came out medium well. For the price, I would expect the steak to be cooked perfectly as ordered. Everything else was great and I'd go back for another special occasion.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointsCharlie Palmer is my favorite restaurant in DC. Never miss a chance to eat here when I am in town. The steaks are prepared perfectly. Service is excellent without being intrusive. Perfect location next to the Capitol.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Power LunchCharlie Palmer's has not lost a step. A "steakhouse" without the windowless, old-school steakhouse feel. The energetic open feel and very good steaks make this a nice alternative... especially for a power lunch. It is a nice diverse menu for a steakhouse... giving this place a feel unlike most traditional steak houses. It's near Union Station so it is a great spot to meet those coming in via train for a meeting for the day.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed the food and atmosphere.I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The steak was delicious.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful venue, perfect tableThis was the 5th or so time we've dined at Charlie Palmers, usually for a special occasion. The venue, space, ambiance is great. Thoroughly clean and modern, compared to a typical heavy, dark steak joint. Brad (the same bartender over the years) is welcoming, engaging and makes great recommendations. We had a party of 6 with a perfect table in the corner, with a beautiful view. The service this time (and previous visits) was very spotty. Several times I was compelled to get up to find a our server to take our orders, bring the check, and then come pick up the check. It wasn't a big deal, but strange the valet parking wasn't available on a Saturday evening. Great spot for a special occasion.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFun with the Sommelier3 of us had dinner at Charlie Palmers on Friday night . I had been at Schneider Brothers wine shop buying wine and started talking about our dinner plans. My wine manager there asked if I wanted a special bottle for dinner. I said I didn't know about the corkage policy at Charlie Palmers and he said that he knew the sommelier and would call her. Well she wasn't working but Todd was. He confirmed no corkage on Domestic wines.
We went and brought a Harlan the Maiden 2003 gave to him and asked him to match or beat it with another ottos from his list. He swallowed hard smiled and brought out a 2005 Dominus. We insisted he taste them with us ( and share some with the chef). They were great with the steaks and all was superb! We'll be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Birthday DinnerMy father loves steak and we took him here for his 75th birthday. It was wonderful, but when it is not? While I am not a steak person, I love Charlie Palmer and will eat one here. I love their food. It is not too heavy and the prices are more than worth it.
I normally leave my daughter at home when we come here but I brought her this time. She is 7 and they made her favorite, chicken fingers and french fries. Which of course made me and her both happy.
My dad felt like the king of the family that he is and once again I have to give five stars and two thumbs up to Charlie Palmer for being a part of another memorable night for my family.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant Dining in DCVery nice ambiance, great food and excellent service. Well worth the money!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding attention to detailOutstanding attention to detail and to the customer. Old school approach to food prepared perfectly and served in an exquisite manner. Amuse bouche and after dinner petit fours were unexpected surprises. Will definitely return and recommend to all for special occasions.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding,The food was outstanding, the waiter, attentive at first. Food came out on top of appitizers and we had to call for the check, but other than that, it was nice.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for the Friday andWe went for the Friday and Saturday night flights to celebrate our anniversary. The personalized service and attention to detail really sets Charlie Palmer Steak apart from many other restaurants with a similar caliber of food and beverage offerings. It was a wonderful meal!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur evening at Charlie Palmer'sOur evening at Charlie Palmer's in DC was amazing. Our Server Marcella was top notch and the food was excellent. 5 Stars. When we return to DC. We will return to Charlie Palmer.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of my favoriteThis is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire DC area. It always comes through for me, both in food and in service. I highly recommend it to my friends and business associates.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Steak Locals and TouristsExcellent steak in a great location where you can view the Capitol Building. Good for special occasions for people who live locally and great classy DC restaurant for out-of-towners.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb experience! 5-starsSuperb experience! 5-stars for sure. Special note that you can bring in up to two domestic bottles of wine WITHOUT paying a corkage fee.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good as usualFood was very good as usual although the filet was a little grisley on the edge. Petit filet was not offered which was disappointing. Service was excellent until the restaurant became busier and then it was average if not a little below average. A manager had to present dessert menus and pick-up the check.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCharlie Palmer review 06 Apr. 2013My girlfriend and I arrived about 30 minutes early and were greeted by the bartender at the entrance to the restaurant. He invited us into the bar area where we found a nice table for two with comfortable, leather chairs. The bartender was very friendly. He immediately brought us menus for the bar area and we ordered the tuna tartar which was excellent along with a glass of wine. Shortly after finishing the food and drink at the bar area we went to get seated at the dining area. The service and food was excellent. My girlfriend stated that it was the best dinner at a restaurant that she ever had. Would recommend arriving at 5:00. This is the time they start serving in the restaurant. With less people there, we received great service.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, food, and ambience!Great service, food, and ambience! Our host, Lamar, was extremely knowledgeable and recommended some great American champagne. I don't eat red meat but the Rockfish was superb, as were the side dishes. I will definitely make another reservation.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food including theDelicious food including the complementary samples sent out by the chef. Excellent service.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm gluten free and the restaurantI'm gluten free and the restaurant did a great job catering to that; I normally don't even mention it (and try to figure it out on my own) but they were super helpful and our server was surprisingly knowledgeable.
I'd recommend Charlie Palmer for a date night or special occasion for sure. On the pricey side but worth it in my opinion; the steak was extremely good and came with a ton of different sauces to try. I liked one so much I ordered more of it explicitly and asked about the ingredients.
Overall a great date night and very classy scene.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic restaurant. WhatFantastic restaurant. What a view!!!! Service is the best. We go there evry time we are in DC3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMYummyAnother excellent meal at Charlie Palmer! Great food, fine service and skilled bartender. Make sure you ask for a Capitol view from the roof.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak in DCThe food was amazing with an excellent view of the Capitol. We were seated promptly, and the waiter took the time to answer all of our questions about the menu. Every steak was savory. The service was good in the beginning, but as the restaurant got busier, the wait-staff came by less and less. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our check. All-in-all, this was the best steakhouse that I have visited in DC.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time! Great meal!Great time! Great meal! We cannot wait to come back to DC to visit again!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to dine in DC.Great place to dine in DC. Service and food excellent. Dishes of note were the yellow tail and beef carpaccio appetisers and the rib eye entree. The truffle mac and cheese side is a must!!!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view at very good steakhouseCharlie Palmer is a great steakhouse option in the Capitol Hill area. Ask to be seated at a table near the window and you will have a beautiful view of the Capitol building at night. They have an extensive wine list, but there is no corkage fee for up to 2 bottles of American wine. The lack of corkage fee is great for people looking to save some $$.
Some of the highlights of our dinner: bone-in ribeye, twice-baked potatoes, creamed spinach, and truffle mac 'n cheese. The ribeye was so good (not too fatty) that it made the filet taste extremely dry in comparison. The foie gras appetizer was good, but I wouldn't order this again. The shrimp cocktail was pretty standard.
Great for special occasions and large groups.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe steak was one of the bestThe steak was one of the best I have had. There was a delay (extreme) in the kitchen with our appetizers which if we had not been enjoying conversation with friends whom we had not seen in 2 years, could have been very irritating. However, once the manager realized there was a problem he immediately addressed it, owned up to it and handled it. If someone feels he is being ignored, an impression can be formed that is very difficult to change. The manager did not allow this to happen and he has gained a loyal customer. Our friends from England were astonished and said that if the same situation had happed there the manager or owner would have shrugged and had a take it or leave it attitude. Thanks Charlie Palmer for a great evening.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFilet salad was outrageouslyFilet salad was outrageously delicious! Beef was tender, juicy, and flavorful.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcept for getting in and the kidMy girlfriend and I walked to Charlie Palmer from the Smithsonian's Ripley Center and had trouble finding the entrance, which is tucked away on First Street a considerable distance from the prominent "101 Constitution" sign. Except for that, and a toddler who repeatedly toddled around the dining area with one or both sweatsuit-clad parents in pursuit, the evening was perfect. The three special pork appetizers were perfectly matched by the flight of pinot noir. She declared the Hollendaise Sauce the best she's ever had and the asparagus perfectly roasted. Her hanger steak, with lobster and foie gras added, was delicious as was my peppered cullote steak. We shall return.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCP Steak: Mainstay DiningReuniting with my former boss and his wife called for a special dining destination. Charlie Palmer once again proved why the restaurant attracts a lunchtime crowd. With its subdued decor and restrained vitality, one was able to enjoy both easy conversation and exceptional food. When we ogled the neighboring diner's filet mignon salad, one of us chose that entree while the other chose the simply grilld tuna. In a mood for less meat, I selected a variety of sides: roasted asparagus, onions mixed with wild mushrooms, and bacon-roasted brussels sprouts. All were pefectly cooked and my dining companions (in the old-timey vernacular) "cleaned their plates." While the sides are meant to be shared, I departed with ample leftovers to savor later.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. Rib-Eye is topAmazing food. Rib-Eye is top notch. Wine pairing was perfect.3/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAt a window, looking out atAt a window, looking out at the Capitol at night, what more can you ask for. The food and servioe is always good.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMy client was very impressedMy client was very impressed with our table location that had a perfect view of the Capitol. He said his steak was delicious and we had a leisurely meal with no rush to clear the table.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
