Charlie palmers at this location has a brand new menu. Really trying to concentrate on doing a few great items and doing them well. Tried the filet tonight. Very good. Love the beef tartare appetizer and Caesar salad that we usually have. We get great service and enjoy the way they take care of us each time we come. Always a good evening for us!

While the food was excellent, the staff seemed inexperienced and disorganized. We had to hunt down our change for the bar bill. There was confusion about the inclusion of sides on the pre fixe menu. It was clearly stated that the sides were included with each entree but the waiter disagreed. We did get the sides but we' werecharged. The error was repaired but we almost missed our play.

Charlie Palmer at South Coast Plaza has it all, hustle and bustle in the wine bar and serious eating in the restaurant. We were there pre-theater on a Friday night and could feel the excitement in the bar. In the beautifully appointed restaurant we were impressed with the wine list. The beet salad was best I have ever had and the chestnut ravioli in reduction wine sauce were delicious. Could not resist the warm bread. This restaurant does not disappoint.

I am a frequent diner at CP. Love the location and always treated so well by everyone there. It makes me feel they care. But I hadn't been in for a few weeks and had two reservations for this one. I was so dissapointed!!!! I know restaurants change their menus regularly to keep with customers tastes, showcase seasonal ingredients etx but in my experience, they don't mess with something good and keep customers favorites. Imagine my surprise and my guests dissapointment when crowd favorites like the spiced edamame or the delicious Brussels sprouts were not on the menu anymore. The new dishes did not come close to replacing those. Bring them back, please!!!

It was a Friday evening at 7:00pm and very few people were there. Everything was OK except there was no salt or pepper on the table. When the main course was served, we asked for salt. When we finished, we asked again, some 20 minutes later. The waiter just "forgot". No offer was made to account for this.

I was there for lunch and ordered the pre-fixed $25 menu. Each dish was exquisite and the service was great! Brent, the waiter, was always attentive, pouring more coffee, bringing more bread, and checking on the food. I like the ambiance and décor because the chairs and tables are wide and comfortable, and there's a good distance between you and the next table.

We try to go to Charlie Palmer 3 to 4 times a year as it has a great selection of small plates that suit our taste for variety without having to overeat. We match 4 or 5 items with a bottle of wine and enjoy a relaxing 2 to 2 1/2 hours ending with coffee and possibly a shared dessert. The food is artistcally prepared with unique preparation. We will often order something that we have no idea about and are always glad that we did for the result of an exciting and delicious new dish. The service always is perfect, but this time we were just speechless by how wonderful we were treated. We had questions about which wine to get and the suggestion was perfect. The chef stopped by and all the staff treated us like royalty.

We wanted to celebrate our adult daughter's birthday in a way that would make her feel pampered and special, and remind her of her time in New York. The restaurant delivered on every detail. The lamb was excellent. The mahi mahi was also perfect, and in this sense was better than one would usually find in New York The service was attentive, professional and not overdone--just what we wanted. The bar was crowded and noisy, but the dining room was just right

The food was delicious, the crisp skin chicken was to die for as was the cesar salad. The service was not so great, we weren't given menus when we were seated and it took over 15 minutes for our waiter to acknowledge us. He was nice, but slow. I would probably return just because the chicken was THAT good but at those prices the service should be excellent.

We were looking forward to finally trying out this restaurant. We were surprised how easy it was to get a table on a Friday night. Maybe that should have been our first clue. The first thing we noticed the bar was busy. And it stayed that way all night. The dining area was maybe half full. I started with the butter lettuce salad and my husband had the soup, both were ok. For my main course, I ordered Filet Mignon medium cooked. It came out more on medium well side so it was a bit dry throughout. I thought about returning it but didn't bother at that point. my husband ordered the rack of lamb and his was cooked perfect. We ended up skipping dessert but still ended up with a $200 bill (we ordered 1 cocktail each).

We went to Charlie Palmers for a special lunch during the week. It started off a little rocky because we had no waiter for the first 10 minutes and had to call someone over. Once that was settled things went smoothly from there. The plantains as an appetizer were filling and we couldn't get enough of the Pico de gallo salsa. I had the blackened salmon salad which was much more filling than I expected. The two dressings were subtle and delicate enough to complement the salmon, avocados, cucumbers and other fresh veggies in the salad. My husband had the beef sliders which were seasoned perfectly and the rich, yet delicious Mac and cheese. Loved the look and feel of the restaurant and would go again.

I am a little disappointed in our lunch. The salmon as well as the chicken was overcooked although the accompaniments to these dishes were very good and tasteful. Other side dishes served were indeed also very good and tasty. Nevertheless, I do think this restaurant is quite worthy of another try.

Ahi, prawns and a steak tartare-amazing! We tried the flat iron steak this trip and loved it as well. Great potatoes with this dish. Very excited to see the creativity of this talented chef.

  • Very ordinary

For a restaurant with a big time chef's name, the food was pretty ordinary. Three of us dined and agreed that, sadly, the salads and bread were the best parts of the meal, despite each ordering a different entrée (one from the pre-theater menu). The quality of the steak was disappointing: stringy & chewy, and the salmon was oversalted with a cloying lemon sauce. The apricot panna cotta was tasty but the texture was off, too gelatinous. Service was competent but hurried and insincere. Overall not worth the prices. This is the sixth time we've dined here, I think we keep hoping it will get just a little better at meeting our expectations, but next time we'll probably just give it a miss. There are so many other good options in the SCP area.

My wife and I went their for a date. The service was excellent every need taken care of. My wife ordered a drink and didn't like it. She only drank half and ordered a different drink the server asked if she didn't like it took it off our bill without even asking. The food was delicious my wife ordered the flat iron steak and said "wow" afterwards. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered and was decent size. I had the Halibut special. The seafood was fresh and seasoned to enrich the taste. Afterwards they gave free dessert, mini tart, Perfect touch! All in all a great experience, would go back. Our bill was $110 for both plates and 4 drinks w/appetizer. Will definately go back.

Made reservations on open table, check menu, usually we pick possible our meals, in the restaurant they said there was only mother day menu, not what we saw on line, we stay and order from the mother day menu. a few minutes latter they serve other people meals that I saw on the on line's menu. I sure they wanted to push the mother day menu, poor choices and overprice. This is the first time I complain about my dinning experiences, see my record. Will not go back to this place and hope you Open Table do something about this. Totally lack of respect shame on you. Dr. Ralph Sanchez jr.

Been to Charlie Palmer for the last 3 Thanksgivings in a row, and this last time for Mother's Day. The food is uniformly very good -- had a terrific baked salmon and an unusual take on key lime pie. Portions are a bit small for the money. Service is VERY attentive, and a mistake on this trip was fixed in minutes. I was there with family, but saw others there with dates -- it's a great place for that. When full, the place is loud, and the lights are kept low at night, so it's best for adults. From past experience, though, kids are well taken care of if you bring them. Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdale's is a strong all-around performer.

We decided to try the chef's tasting menu for our meal this time. Amazing. Chef Kim came out and discussed what we liked and he personally brought out each dish and explained it. We did 6 courses and each one was perfect-paired nicely with different wines. Great job on the pairing too. It was so fun and such a treat for us. Will be doing this again and can't wait to see what the chef will come up with next! Thank you for a wonderful evening.
