However, they do have pizza and spaghetti on the menu and the portions of these items are big enough for two or three little ones to share. Delicious meal!"

Group of 5 we had soups and entree and desert. Their specials were good. All for <$200! Gelato was excellent. Very enjoyable!"

  • "This was our first visit to the restaurant. We were seated with 5 to 10 minutes of our reservation. Our waiter was awesome, his explanation of the specials and the menu was very enthusiastic. Unfortunately the food did not live up to its end of the deal. I thought what came out looked more like high priced diner food. The toasted raviolis looked and tasted like Geno's frozen pizza rolls. The cheese fondue special was good except for the stale and burnt ciabatta toasts. The lobster bisque was lukewarm and the flavor missed the mark. Our salads were good. My veal nunzio although it tasted good was not very pleasing to the eye. Same for my wife's beef nunzio. We will try another italian restaurant the next time we are in St. Louis"

  • "Charlie Gitto's in Chesterfeild is a very nice restaurant. The separate dining rooms reduces the noise and makes for a more intimate experience. It has a good outdoor seating area (big plus) and I like the dessert counter in the lobby were you can get Geletto, pastries and other sweets to take home with you. Our waiter (David) was very attentive but not intrusive. The waiters have lots of back-up servers that refill drinks, bus tables and serve food. The food is what gets them the 5th star. Excellent recipes and well executed entrees make Charlie Gitto's a special place for special occasions. We recommend this restaurant and ask for David."

  • "When the Maitre d'Hotel hands you an electronic pager, you know you are in for average. A pager? Really? Cheese and Chutney first course: Cheese was nice. Chutney wasn't chutney. Grilled bread was OK. What are they going for here? Kind of riff on Raclette? Arancini: It's called a 'little orange' for a reason, should not be so huge. You can't make arancini from fresh risotto. Arancini must be made from leftover risotto, with a zesty filling. Using a mild cheese inside tells me the chef doesn't understand balance. Livornese style fish lacked sufficient capers and should have a small amount of white anchovy cooked into the a la minute sauce, and the whole should be mounted with a small amount of butter to finish. And yes, I'm a retired chef."

  • "We made reservations but when we arrived there wasn't a table ready. We waited 30 minutes as all of the hostess staff constantly walked around us to seat other parties. We finally voiced our concern and growing impatience then our table was magically ready. :( after this very slow and annoying start our waitress was very nice and knowledgable. The food was delicious and the prices weren't bad either. That being said, if my reservations and seating are handled in the same manner upon my next visit I would never return to CG's."

  • "Eggplant parm used fontina cheese instead of mozzarella which gave it a "off" taste. Tomato sauce had sugar in it making it too sweet. The linguine with clams also had a non-traditional ingredient...onions. The sauce too was very oily and the portion size was small. We sat at a table next to a window and the air conditioning was blowing right at us making it uncomfortable. $60 for two with no drinks was a real disappointment."

  • "I've patronized Charlie G's, Downtown, for years while working nearby. Always loved Charlie's energy, friendliness and "Irish" looks. He told me about his son's place in Chesterfield and decided to give it a try when it came our time to pick restaurants. Glad I did. The family trait is carried well by the son's restaurant. Excellent food, the service was incredible, and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The "only" area I had trouble with was the noise level. It was a little trying when the place filled, but it wasn't like other places I've been where the only thing you walk away with is a headache. We'll definitely be back."

  • "I brought my friend Sue to your restaurant to celebrate her birthday. Everything we had was beautifully presented and delicious! We both loved the salad dressing in particular, and Sue guessed that it was made "in house". Also, her chicken dish had a fabulous wine sauce. What was really lovely was that a birthday dessert with a lit candle (Italian "celebration cake) was set before her without a word, with the words "Happy Birthday" beautifully spelled out in sauce! It was really lovely to look at as well as delicious! The service was very well-timed and excellent by all involved. This was a truly festive occasion and the food and service we received was most worthy of treating a dear friend to a birthday lunch. Thank you!"

  • "I booked on open table and I wanted to make reservations for 12:30 on a Sunday. We could only get 11:00 or 1:00. I reserved for 1:00. When we got there at 1:00 the place was basically empty, so why couldn't we get in at 12:00 or 12:30? The service was not good. We were there for 3 hours! Our appetizers took forever to come out, and then there was another long wait before our main dishes came . We were there for my father-in-laws 91st birthday and we also had a two year old with us. Needless to say, a two year old doesn't want to sit for lunch for 3hours. Some of out group said the food was good, but I ordered the Canalloni and it was terrible! Needless to say, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon!"

  • "This place always seems to be full. Glad we had an open table reservation. Food wasn't quite as good as our last visit. The tomato salad was generous enough to share but the tomato was pretty mealy, though I realize it is March. The trout was tasty but pretty small for the price. Good angle hair pasta. The veal marsala had one tough piece and one tender piece. Ask for the bread; it doesn't seem to come automatically. Beer selections weren't as good in our opinion. No more Moretti or Ommegang."

  • "We have dined here before and had an excellent experience. However, this time was not the case. After being seated, I asked for a wine menu. 10-15 minutes later our waiter came by for our drink order. My husband asked if we could hear the specials. The waiter mentioned that there were two specials and then asked him, "which one would you like to hear about?" Obviously we had wanted to hear about both, but we felt like he was rushing us through. We would have ordered a bottle of wine, but he never came back. When our meal arrived, he did notice our empty glasses and we just ordered another glass. Food was fine, but not great. Waiter did not offer a us a side selection. If service would have been better, I would rate the experience higher."

He had good suggestions for wine and entrees. I had the sea bass which was excellent. My husband had the cannelloni which he said was close to the best he has ever had. We shared tiramisu for dessert which was yummy. It was the perfect birthday dinner."

  • "My wife and I never had been to Charlie Gitto's. We live 2 hours away, but I decided to try the restaurant out after seeing many positive reviews. Charlie Gitto's did not disappoint! The food, service, and ambiance were fantastic! It also was a very quiet atmosphere which was very nice! The food is moderately priced and affordable. Two people can spend $100 very easily on a meal, but what I loved is that you can also spend $20 or $30 and still have a wonderful meal."

  • "We had a very good meal. Lobster Bisque soup was great. Lobster pasta was tasty. Husband enjoyed his Veal Marsala. Enjoyed the wine we ordered, did think the $10.50 price (per glass) was a little pricey. We went on a busy Saturday night, it was a little loud. Service was very good. Only downside was they want to clear plates before you are finished. Missed the Bucatini on the menu."

  • "I have found the service is always good, and the food very tasty. I generally like the mixed green salad because of the tasty dressing, but half of my salad this time was bitter red cabbage--a little of that goes a long way. The veal marsala is exceptionally tasty, and the gelato is a real treat--albeit missing the little cookie. We wish they would reconsider. We took my 86-year-old father to dinner with us, and it was his first taste of gelato. He's hooked! The restaurant is generally always noisy, but the food makes up for it. I am glad I made a reservation through OpenTable because when we left, the wait was 1-1/2 hours long. It's wonderful to have this quality restaurant in Chesterfield, and I would recommend it to my friends."

  • "Having only eaten at Charlie Gitto's downtown, I wasn't expecting this. Don't get me wrong: the downtown location is great... but it has the charm of a neighborhood bar and restaurant, more in keeping with The Hill. This place, in contrast, is much more nicely decorated, and a bit more quiet. The menu is not extensive, but there's a good variety of reasonably priced dishes. Everything we've had so far (two different visits) has been delicious. And they are gluten-free friendly! Service is very good. Friendly, efficient, and professional, even when it's busy. Parking can be a bit of a challenge during peak dining hours. This restaurant is on our short list of places to bring out-of-town guests to in West County."

We both enjoyed meals from the daily special, beef spiedini and Grouper with pasta. I must say that the pasta was a little chewier than it should be but the meal was very flavorful, especially the beef speidini. The Italian salad was excellent! We will continue to return."

The food was second to none as we commented on every item as we began to partake of it at our table. Our server, Katie, was awesome and made our first experience at Charlie Gitto's FTH so enjoyable. We're planning to make this a monthly dining location so we can try more of the great items on the menu."
