Our menu comes from New York's farmers markets, Long Island fishing boats, country fields and the wondrous meanderings of spirited travelers with passionate palates. We're crushing seafood, roasted meats, crazy good wine and creamy espresso. We present a wine list broad enough for you to come by and enjoy wine with us every night or you can order something you can't get anywhere else in the world. We're Italian influenced, American executed and entirely New York.

  • "Went here for lunch on the weekend. It has outdoor tables, but they also have those glass walls that fully open on a Saturday, so nice to sit inside and still feel like you are outside. My husband and I had oysters, farro salad, gnocchi, and focaccia with figs. Everything was excellent, but the farro salad was the best farro I have had in my life, and the focaccia with figs was to die for. The place itself is set up nicely, casual but with some unique touches, including the music being hip hop and rap of my youth. I loved the place. I'll definitely go back. It's perfect."

  • "Took my girl friend here on her birthday and had an amazing experience. The music was awesome, good old school hip hop, the ambiance was great and the food and wine was superb! I would recommend this place for any occasion, but especially if you're looking for an amazing dinning experience that doesn't have to cost a fortune (it wouldn't have minus the bottle of wine, which was out of this world as well!)"

  • "Laid back, welcoming and hip space. Service is knowledgeable, professional. Soundtrack is 90s hip hop, like my ipod was plugged in! We sat outside for a late lunch. Still/Sparkling provided on the house. Kept hearing about this Farro Salad (and who the heck says "have the Farro"?). Excellent and so creative - farro, pistachio, mint, parmesan fava beans - all ingredients work to lighten the farro; fresh and filling start. Carrot salad - roasted heirloom carrots, ginger - another flavored/light winner. Mains - veal pastrami (didn't hit a deli on this trip, so had to) - peppered, with home made mustard,the spice was cut amazingly by the cucumber and pickle salad. Another KO. Grilled calamari which was cooked well,but didn't blow our socks off."

  • "It was so hard to get a decent reservation and everyone was raving about it, I figured I might be disappointed because expectations would be too high. However, Charlie Bird did not disappoint. The meal was great--everything we had was fantastic. The service was great. I think my husband found the bar offerings to be limited and he couldn't see what brands they carried because they don't have a back bar but we were told that was by design. I've only been for dinner but I'd like to go back for brunch."

  • "Really nice food but very disappointed with the service, which ended after we ordered. No one bothered to ask how our food was after it arrived...also no one stopped to see if we wanted another glass of wine. We flagged someone down to order more, and they left but never returned with the wine, so we had to ask again. Also this happened even though they knew that it was our anniversary. So we definitely left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed, which is a bummer since it's a really cute place and we loved the food."

  • "Was looking forward to lunch at this highly lauded restaurant.. A major disappointment. Service, though friendly, was extremely slow and inattentive. No bread was offered with lunch. And the food, while creative and flavorful, looked like it was thrown on the plates. After having wonderful lunches at The Gander and Piora, I'm sorry to report that Charlie Bird misses the mark."

  • "Found the cooking here great, bordering on extraordinary. What holds the whole place back is a wine program designed by a chimpanzee. For a casual-vibe place like this to populate its list with such a high % of bottles near or above $100 , with only a small handful in the $40s and $50s, and high per-glass prices to boot, is infuriating and flat-out greedy. Too much of this in NYC today...far better to BYO and pay corkage, if they even have one"

  • "The atmosphere was fun with loudish music playing that made me want to dance a little in my seat. The bread was amazing. We found the food to be good but we weren't wowed by anything. We had the octopus saltimboca, bone marrow; duck egg uni pasta (which drew me to this place as I am a huge uni fan), braised rabbit, and the carrots. I was kind of disappointed in the uni pasta but I had very high expectations. It was sort of cold with only 1 small piece of uni on top. Out of the restaurants we visited lately (The Gander and Dover), this just didn't impress us. "

  • "I often have visitors in town and am constantly going to a lot of the "new hot spots" around town and this was definitely one that stood out. We booked a second table (whilst my visitors are still here) half way through the meal it was that good. The food, atmosphere, service and general experience was great. The music was slightly loud, however you could still talk without shouting. Having said that, the last few restaurants I have been to this has been a trend, so didn't surprise me."

  • "They rush you through your meal. I'm guessing so as to accommodate their next reservation. Our plates were taken away as soon as we finished our last bite and they even offered to take away our sides which we were still working on. The bill was promptly placed on the table when we declined dessert. We were definitely rushed through our meal as evidenced by being in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour. Disappointingly awful service for an otherwise well-reviewed restaurant."

  • "Visited on a Friday evening and had been really looking forward to it. We had a table reservation, but opted to sit at the bar since it seemed to have a good vibe and ambience for us to enjoy. That lasted just until the bartender appeared. Luckily for him, I never asked his name and tossed my receipt, but throughout my 12 years living in NYC I have never had such atrocious service. New levels of rudeness, a totally unfriendly demeanor and basically he could not have made us feel less welcome. On a positive note, the food we tasted was good. Of particular note, both crudo dishes we had -- razor clams and the scallops -- were fresh, vibrant and flavorful. TINY portions, but delicious."

  • "We had lunch reservations for 1:00 on Friday and did not end up leaving until after 3:00 pm. It took nearly 45 minutes for our appetizers to arrive and then at least 30 minutes between when we finished our appetizer and when our main course came out. But that wasn't even the worst part. Our waiter was extremely sarcastic and rude. Every thing I asked for was answered with an extremely sarcastic and annoyed response. He even rolled his eyes when we asked for the check after we had been trying to get his attention for 15 minutes. We were a party of 3 and spent a lot of $$ on our meal and drinks. All in all, I love Charlie Bird's food and have been 3 times but after this service, I most likely will not return."

  • "Lots of hype for this restaurant and it just wasn't all that. First, diners piled up in the vestibule because the front door was locked until precisely 5:30PM when it opened. And it was like 7 degrees out. The space is visually well done, but they were blasting hip hop music (Jay Z but still most of the diners were middle aged at 5:30PM and it wasn't conducive to a calm dining experience). Although many of the workers, especially the hostess was very friendly, we had the dullest server with no personality. I had the rigatoni and it was very salty. Wines by the glass were just ok. Not in hurry to go back."
