Diner Reviews
  • "i've been going to Charley's Crab for over 30 years and have never had a bad meal or bad experience. Always has been one of the institutions of Palm Beach and continues to be so. Food score would have been excellent but for my wife's soup which wasn't quite up to the usual excellent standard but that is a very minor criticism as overall another wonderful evening."

  • "This is a great on-the-water-venue and the food is fresh and good. Loved it. Wish it were closer to where we live."

  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary. The wine selection was very good but the beer selection was disappointing. The service was good, the location and atmosphere was as well. The food was unimpressive. The seared Mahi was on but dry. The main course my wife had the stuffed shrimp and they were alright but the shrimp were sort of on the small side. I ordered the grilled Mahi and it was a good size portion but it had no flavor and was so greasy that there was a pool of butter on the plate. The vegetables and rice were good but for the money it was disappointing. The best part if the meal was the dessert, we had the cherry apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. At $150 for two I would have expected more."

  • "Table not ready at time of reservation. Kitchen slow producing entrees."

  • "Poor service. Log wait for food. Would never go back. Don't bother Other places in Palm Beach to have a fine meal and great serice. This is NOT one of them"

  • "Still reminds me enough of Charlie's Crab in Detroit to keep me coming."

  • "Great service, great presentation, generous portions, delicious apps and fantastic desserts. The view is nice, but misleading. This is the place to go for a finer, yet casual dining experience."

  • "Tasteless mush slopped onto a plate. Hands down the worst of the 6 or 7 restaurants I have been to on PB.."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Had the cucumber oysters, stone crab entrée and grand mariner soufflé. The soufflé takes 35 minutes, so don't wait until the end of the meal to order. Stone crabs were a little on the small size but delicious."

  • "I had heard from friends how good this restaurant was. They were right. From the cocktail to dessert, everything was wonderful. The bread basket came with butter and crab butter. What a treat. The staff all wished me a happy birthday and my menu had a personalized Happy Birthday printed on the top. Dinner ended with a candle on dessert. All in all a very nice experience."

  • "Haven't been in a while and wife wanted pan-seared scallops. I had the shrimp fresco, both dishes were great as was the wine and dessert. Air was blowing right on us but they turned it off as soon as we asked. Only negative was a waiter, not ours, who would talk so loud to his tables that you couldn't carry on your own conversation at your table...little weird."

  • "We have never had a bad experience at Charley's Crab. Fine food and excellent service. The Landry chain has continued the fine food and service that we had enjoyed with the Muer family of restaurants over many years,"

  • "The Noise level made conversation difficult. The Sole special tasted as if it had been frozen - needed a sharp knife to cut. A party of five without appetizers, without wine except for two glasses of bar well selection, 4 cocktails, one beer, one coffee, and no desert came to over $300 before tax. Taboo or Renato's are miles above this place for the same cost."

  • "My husband and I always look forward to lunch at Charley's. The staff are friendly and the service is nicely paced according to the customer's needs, something few restaurants achieve these days. We had tempura-style calamari, the fried fish platter and the decadent house chocolate cake Every dish was delicious and accompanied with a lovely bottle of reasonably-priced Napa Viognier. The Palm Beach location and mesmerising ocean view enhance an already wonderful dining experience."

  • "Bob and I have always enjoyed the restaurant. The atmosphere and food are consistently good. In fact we brought our children (adults) from Boston there for dinner on Saturday night. We had a lovely table in the front corner of the restaurant that faces the ocean. The lighting is very adequate except for the two front corner round tables. When it became dark we could not see our food and we had to ask for another candle..That still was not sufficient; there is no over-head lighting on those two tables. We feel that our complaint was worthy since my husband is an architect and I am an interior designer. The food was good except for the trout that my husband had to send back. Thekey lime pie was spectacular!"

  • "We attend Cardinal Spring Training every year in Jupiter and always include Charlies Crab every year as a MUST for an evening out. Charley's Crab is the perfect place for a romantic night out! Food and service is always first class! Looking for an OUTSTANDING seafood selection and great service, you need to add Charley's Crab to your list!"

  • "Food was ok, service was fair, but the wait for our meal was a bit lengthy- we were ready to eat the tablecloth after waiting an hour and a half for our entrees."

  • "While our food was good, the service was absolutely terrible from the moment we sat down. Our server was unable to describe items on the cocktail list or main menu, which was unfortunate as it was our first time at the restaurant. He would disappear for long periods of time, and when he did finally reappear, he would only stay at our table long enough to drop off dishes...it almost seemed as if he was "running away" when we were talking to him. One of the people in my party ordered stone crab, but our server forgot to bring him the utensils to eat it. Our meal ended up taking 3 hours, and we only had three people in our party. I would like to say that the food was good enough to outweigh the service, but I am not sure that is the case."

  • "Like the restaurant and have been there many times We are late eaters as many others in Palm Beach And this is the 2nd time no lobsters at 8:00 dining You can call ahead and hold one with a credit card For everyone to be aware of but sometimes you do not know If you want it until you get there"

  • "Visiting from NY so as a bit of a food snob, this restaurant fit the bill. with 4 adults, a toddler and a newborn, the restaurant was incredibly accommodating as well. Reasonably priced for how good the food / service were. With kids , reco sitting by 6pm."

  • "The food was good, however my group had to wait more than an hour to be seated."

  • "We went there to celebrate our anniversary. Charley's Crab did a fantastic job of making it special and romantic. I requested ahead of time that they put us at "one of their most romantic tables." They sat us in a separate room at a window table directly facing the ocean. Though it was a busy Friday night, they only put one other couple in the room with us. While the decor in this room is not as nice as the main dining room, it was still a perfect, quiet setting where we felt like we were the only diners in the restaurant. Our waiter was great, as was the food. The maitre d' also came by to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. I greatly appreciate that the restaurant made our anniversary special and memorable."

  • "Thought we would give it a try even after reading the not-so-great reviews. Overall, was really disappointed. Started when I called the restaurant earlier to ask how much the corkage fee was and the person who answered said it was $20 but we could not bring a wine that was on their list. I had never been to this restaurant so I had no idea what they had. I asked if their wine list was online and she said yes. I went online to look and could not find it. Our waiter was not very good. We constantly felt rushed when trying to decide what to have for dinner. The waiter was to return with bread and he never bought it. When our dinners finally showed up they were very bland. The supposedly 'fresh' fish was not so fresh. Will probably not return."

  • "We arrived for our reservation and were instructed by the 'not cool enough to be so rude' hostess that it might be 15 minutes wait so we headed to the fairly empty bar, no problem. Except it was a problem placing a drink order with one of the two bartenders as they goofed around with each other. We were seated, waiting, again. Finally ordered dinner and a soufflé for dessert. Dinner was fine. But our soufflé fell in the kitchen our waitress said this happens once every night, hmmm. The manager offered to buy us one dessert to share. Really? I hadn't been to this restaurant in quite awhile, I wanted to like it but there is a service problem that needs to be addressed, somethings just not right, hope it gets better."

  • "We arrived 10 minutes late for our 7:30 reservation which we had made requesting a quiet table. We were told it would be a few minutes. 20 minutes later we were shown to a booth in the bar. We refused the table. Another table was being cleared and it would be a few more minutes. The next table was adjacent to the one in the bar with a half wall partition separating the two. We refused that table. Ten minutes later we were shown to a back dining room where most tables were empty. Why were we not shown that table when we walked in. They had adequate servers in that room. Keeping guests waiting and then showing them inappropriate seating is not good for PR. The remainder of the evening was up to Charley's Crab standards."

  • "The food was great, the prices were acceptable considering the view of the ocean that our party was lucky enough to obtain. The lobster bisque was wonderful and the spinich salad was a tasty treat. The unfortunate side of the dinner was the service. The server was extremely slow and had a problem with a negative attitude."

  • "We asked some locals for a recommendation and Charley's was it. They had innovative menu choices as well as basic fresh fish. We had a hard time deciding on our choice for dinner. We were not disappointed. We did feel that the wine list was too pricey with no interesting but under $90 bottles of wine! Also our waiter was a bit fast paced for our taste. All things considered, we would definitely return and are really glad we got the recommendation."

  • "A gem of a restaurant. Delicious food attractively plated. Helpful staff. Make a reservation for the best seats. Walk ins don't get window seats and the view is lovely."

  • "All the staff made us feel special. Very attentive without hovering. Our server was extremely professional. The food was very good. If you are celebrating a birthday, they will personalize your menu with your name. It was worth driving from fort lauderdale beach."

  • "Our lunch with a view of the Atlantic was very good. Our waitress was very robotic; she sure followed a script tht left little room for questions. It is a lovely place for lunch or dinner in wealthy Palm Beach The menu choices were mostly seafood and seemed fairly priced. Older crowd in floral pastels."

  • "Have eaten here before. Food is /was great. The only problem that we had (2 people) was that a group of 4 people sat next to us (they were fine). The waiter seemed to ignore us once this group sat down as he could see they were ordering much more food/wine they we were. We ordered coffee, the waiter never asked if we wanted desert. We finally had to ask another waiter who served us. We will return, but your wait staff should be trained to treat all customers equally."

  • "They have a nice ocean view setting and good valet parking. The food was so-so. They offer a brief brunch menu that is mostly egg dishes and all of our egg selections were overcooked. The service was great and the drinks were generous and well-prepared. I'm a decades long fan of the Muir family and their restaurants especially Charlie's Crab which I frequented since the first one opened in Michigan in the late '60s. They evidently are now owned by some big chain and if this experience is any indication they have lost the edge they had for many, many years. Too bad."

  • "This is a bustling restaurant serving superb seafood. It attracts the younger element of Palm Beach with plenty of families. The Menu gives a wide choice and the service is excellent. We would definitely return whenever we were in Palm Beach."
