Diner Reviews
  • "First time we tried this relatively new establishment. It's right on the harbor near the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier - so views abound! The food - mostly Charleston seafood style - was very good. Shrimp appetizer and hush puppies started the meal off with pleasing flavors. Main courses of Grouper and Crab cakes just built on the experience. We will return."

  • "Service was extremely slow with mostly empty tables. Salad was warm, breadsticks were refrigerator cold inside, beer was room temperature. Waiter came to our table a total of 3 times. He took the order, brought the beers after having to be flagged down and asked, and he brought our check. We will not return."

  • "My husband and I dined here for a weekly date night. We started at the Bridge Bar and would definitely return for another happy hour. The dinner started off well with our server, Misty, who was very knowledgeable. The calamari was served with a black garlic aioli, which was one of the best sauces we've ever had served with calamari. Everything was great up until the entrees. My pan fried grouper was served with a pecan crust that was so overcooked it slid right off the top of the fish. The grits and collards were the best part of the dish. My husband's bistro steak was served with french fries that appeared to be previously frozen. Just not what you would expect for this caliber of a restaurant. Great ambiance, mediocre food."

  • "Second time there. Flatbread, salads, and Pink Snapper dishes were excellent. LARGE salads! Great Mashed potatoes, and for someone in the South since 1979 can say they have the BEST collards!! Made (and recognized) small mistake on the flatbread, realized issue, and had corrected version out ASAP. Went home with "free" mistake! If we have a tough time deciding where to go, this will be the one!"

  • "They weren't very busy and it took an hour for them to prepare our lunch. When it finally arrived the bread on two out of three of our sandwiches was frozen. Several minutes later they came out with the same rolls.. Not fresh ones.. Still cold. Rather than comping our sandwiches they gave us a free dessert."

  • "Great food and my guests enjoyed it! The tower appetizer was so good and we enjoyed every bit of it. They were so fresh and i never had it in any restaurant. The upper bar is amazing and the enclosed hall was perfect for my guests who have medical problems."

  • "Charleston Fish House was simply terrific on the 4th of July. The view was outstanding. We watched the fireworks coming up over the aircraft carrier, The Yorktown. We had wonderful shrimp scampi, and lots of great drinks (our bartender was Eric. he certainly knows how to mix a great drink) We had dinner at the bar, along with some other very jovial people. Service, food and ambience are outstanding at the Fish House. Parking is easy. We left just before the fireworks finished to get off the Point without much of a problem. We live right here in Mount Pleasant and don't go to Fish House often enough!"

  • "Great service and view. Food very salty and extremely over priced for the portion."

  • "Our family wanted a nice relaxing dinner on the water. We were a little disappointed, because the seats were inside. It looked liked they could have opened some doors, but it still turned out to be a beautiful view. You can see the USS Yorktown, the bridge, and a beautiful view of the water. The food was excellent. I had shrimp scampi and had never tasted anything that good. Great kids menu."

  • "Had a wonderful experience on our first visit. Had an out of town guest so the setting was perfect. The ships the harbor and the views were great for showing off Charleston"

  • "The restaurant is in a fantastic location. We could see USS YORKTOWN from our table. The food was exceptional and we were able to make reservations online while we were in our way to see Ft Sumter."

  • "As usual the food and service was excellent. All orders were delivered promptly and serve hot, Service was beyond compare. My only problem was the sun shining in on the porch dining area.. It was hard to see my follow diners without straining."

  • "Charleston Harbor, evening out with husband ... I had something else in my head and this wasn't it. Service was very good - thank you Sebastian! The ambience was more casual than expected, my error. Next time we'll bring the kids for lunch. The food was OK, fried green tomatoes appetizer, she crab soup, fried seafood platters. The inside reminded me of a cafeteria until a staffer opened the garage-style windows facing the Harbor and that helped the view to the ships. He explained there was dust in the area due to construction. All in all a pleasant enough experience, and we will be back for lunch with a crowd."

  • "Good menu with well thought out entrees. Nice wine selection. The view is great from any table as it overlooks Patriots Point and the Harbor. The price is a little much for me to consider this a regular dining spot (most entrees in the $22-30 range), but it is a nice place to bring someone from "off" just for the view alone!"

  • "Went to the restaurant on 6/27/14. The food on this particular night was not up to par. I ordered the pan fried grouper and sent it back because it was raw in the middle. In the meantime, my husband ordered the wahoo and when it arrived it was so tough and overcooked you literally could not cut it with a knife. It was like leather. Needless to say, it went back as well. The second time around was a little better although my grouper still was uncooked in the center so I ate around it. Portions of the wahoo were tough so my husband also ate around the tough area. I actually left more on my plate than I ate. This is really not typical of this restaurant so I guess it was just a bad night for the chef."

  • "This was the second time we have dined with the Charleston Harbor Fish House. It's absolutely wonderfull!!! We live 4 hours away so can't visit as often as we would like. But, we do have plans to visit each opportunity we get. Thanks!"

  • "Food was really good with excellent presentation style. However I would not recommend this restaurant because of the poor ambience, uncomfortable chairs, poor seating area, lukewarm staff, and noise level. Also, the prices were high considering the amount of food and the poor seating environment. We were seated downstairs and it appeared that the upstairs area belonged to another business . The view was excellent, but was partially blocked by wide metal frames of the windows. All staff were bored with their jobs and not glad to be there."

  • "We wanted to try a new Restaraunt for a birthday celebration dinner and we saw this place while traveling down to Mt. P. so we thought we would try it. The ambiance was fantastic but the service and food left something to be desired. There were 6 people in our party and 3 of us ordered the filet. Two of the steaks were ordered medium and the other was medium well. Upon receiving our food one filet was more on the side of medium rare and another was almost rare. When our food was taken back to the kitchen it came back over cooked. Needless to say we won't be going back to this establishment. There are too many other great Restaraunts in Charleston to try this one again."

  • "Was very pleased after reading mixed reviews. The food was very good and the service was excellent! The views of the Yorktown, Marina and the harbor are, by far the very best. The prices were a bit high, but it was a special occasion with family from out-of-town visiting. The noise level rose as the restaurant filled up, but due to the open layout so you have water views from anywhere, it was worth it!"

  • "Thus was our third visit and each time it seems to get better. Good size shrimp cocktail, very nice scallops and shrimp and grits plus the chocolate crunch cake was a good finish. In addition, you can 't beat the view!"

  • "The service was terrible. We had 10 second tom who couldn't remember anything and waited forever for our food. That being said, we made the best of it and treated it like a comedy show! The food and views were amazing."

  • "On vacation in Charleston, expected way more. Maybe it was an off night for a Tuesday, not sure. Service was under par, food wasn't fabulous. Server couldn't answer questions about types of oysters or beer selection. Setting was very loud, no blinds on the large windows, sun was so strong we had to sit squinting during our entire experience, not a pleasant experience!"

  • "I had read the other reviews with mixed responses, but went ahead w dinner reservations anyway. Food was average (not bad; not outstanding). Our server was wonderful but appeared to be the only person working (but there were two people at the hostess stand not doing anything). The view of the harbor and decor of the restaurant were outstanding! Average entree price $25-40."

  • "Father's Day brunch should've been a busy, bustling time where the restaurant was prepped for volume. They had no kids menus printed (really?), and we're fairly empty. And even then, service was painfully slow, and food only mediocre. Have had much better dinners there. Disappointed this time."

  • "We chose to try brunch at The Fish House. We sat on the enclosed porch which had fantastic views of the water and the battleship. Our waiter was very slow, but in looking around, I don't think this was the norm. I had the eggs benedict which was wonderful. Two others in our party had the omelet of the day which seemed a bit overcooked. One person had the waffles which were good and my son had the biscuits and gravy with a side of grits. The biscuits and gravy were very good and large for a starter dish. We will definitely give it another try, most likely for dinner next time."

  • "I found the food a very poor value for the money I paid. I had a house salad which was about 1-1/2 cups mised greens and a few veggies but the grilled chicken I added was about 2 ounces of meat- total price of my salad was around $16, plus I ordered a bloody mary for another $8- no special vodka and a very short glass. I just thought it was very expensive for the amount of food and I have eaten many times in more pricey restaurants."

  • "The view is nice but this place is definitely not the caliber of other restaurants in Mt. Pleasant and Charleston. The staff was not very knowledgeable, they were out of basic menu items and the quality is on par with a typical calabash or fried seafood place in Myrtle Beach. Since there are so many other better choices at lower prices, I can’t recommend it to anyone who wants anything more than a good view."

  • "We went to celebrate our anniversary and were taken back by the quality of the food! you can get the usual Fried Fish platter or the top of the line Scallops and Halibut! the Halibut was perfectly cooked and so tasty. Loved the Mac & Cheese as well! We will definitely be back!!"

  • "We were not impressed, maybe we expected more. I would give an over all adequate but barely. Nothing in particular. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating. One server brought us someone else's order. I don't think we will go back."

  • "My wife and i decided to go here for the first time on a ling awaited night out. We were both thouroughly impressed. We loved the view, the atmosphere, and the waiter was friendly and proffessional! It was a little loud at times but nothing we couldn't deal with. Everyone in the restaraunt seemed to be really enjoying themselves. We will definetely recommend this place and be coming back. "
