Diner Reviews
  • "It was our second dining trip. Te first was was great but this visit not so much. It was extremely busy which is good for the restaurant but took forever for us to get our food. Bistro steak was tough and not cooked as requested. Very small portion...did not look like 8 oz steak. Caesar salad was just average. Service was very slow and we were there for 2 and half hours. Very noisy when at capacity. I thought it was too expensive for the experience."

  • "Patrick the server was simply outstanding! He knew how to check and see if we needed anything without being there too long. The scallops were awesome BUT I didn't like the risotto that came with it..my fault as I didn't read the type."

  • "We dined as the sun was going down. Great sunset view. I would go back just for the collard greens!!!"

  • "After making a reservation, we were seated and waited 10 minutes for the hostess to come back to take our drink order and then another 15 for the hostess to come back to take our order. Evidently there were not enough waitresses because we were told that our waitress was working a 30 top and didn't have time for us but hostess would take our order for our "waitress" to put in. We left."

  • "The service was poor. We had to repeatedly ask for anything we needed. They were not even busy so in my opinion service should have been better. My husband ordered a standard drink off the menu, it was not fit to drink. The food left a lot to be desired. Very disappointing. The view was amazing though. The location of this place is gorgeous."

  • "Best view in Charleston from the outdoor bar. Good atmosphere in the dining room. Service good. Bar drinks were mostly ice. Ordered oysters on the half shell and they were very small and not very good. Worst she crab soup I have ever had. Did not even taste like she crab. No crab in it, very salty and lots of cheddar cheese. Never had she crab with Cheese. My husbands grouper was good. Very expensive for the quality."

  • "Enjoyable night out. Had dinner with relatives at your restaurant and enjoyed the meals very much; the service was great and the view was beautiful. Would make a return visit when next in Mt. Pleasant."

  • "We were visiting from Syracuse & truly enjoyed our meal. The lobster was sweet & fresh! The only downside was group in the bar area for a private party. They were very loud, but food was great!"

  • "We went to the Charleston Harbor Fish House on recommendations from several friends and were very pleased with our meals. There were 5 of us, and we ordered 3 appetizers, which were plenty. Our meals were all good; except the green beans weren't cooked long enough. The shrimp/oyster combo meal was huge. Our waiter brought me a piece of Key Lime Pie. He heard my family say something about my birthday. We will return."

  • "With a good menu and very good service this is a place to enjoy a great view of America's number one vacation spot. Enjoy special bar service while watching the sun set from the rooftop bar. This is hard to beat."

  • "Absolutely Fabulous !!! The view was amazing and all of the wine and food that was ordered was so good! We had a martini glass full of chilled Mixed Seafood (like a ceviche but not chopped-up) A fig and Pear Spinach Salad and a Filet Mignon cooked Medium Rare with a Thyme Butter sauce and the Seared Sea Scallops cooked Med Rare. Had to skip on the dessert since we were too full though."

  • "i guess the food prices is to cover the land the rest was built on bc they cut corners on quality staff....food.... blinds of the blinding sun... such a shame.... go for drinks but not the food"

  • "There is always a great view at The Fish House! The rain cleared and we had a gorgeous sunset over the Harbor. The food and service were excellent as usual."

  • "First time we tried this relatively new establishment. It's right on the harbor near the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier - so views abound! The food - mostly Charleston seafood style - was very good. Shrimp appetizer and hush puppies started the meal off with pleasing flavors. Main courses of Grouper and Crab cakes just built on the experience. We will return."

  • "My husband and I dined here for a weekly date night. We started at the Bridge Bar and would definitely return for another happy hour. The dinner started off well with our server, Misty, who was very knowledgeable. The calamari was served with a black garlic aioli, which was one of the best sauces we've ever had served with calamari. Everything was great up until the entrees. My pan fried grouper was served with a pecan crust that was so overcooked it slid right off the top of the fish. The grits and collards were the best part of the dish. My husband's bistro steak was served with french fries that appeared to be previously frozen. Just not what you would expect for this caliber of a restaurant. Great ambiance, mediocre food."

  • "Charleston Fish House is a very nice restaurant to visit. They specialize in seafood. The menu is small. To me, a small menu is a good sign of a good restaurant. Everything I have tried has been good. (This past visit was my 3rd visit in the past 6 months.) The wait staff is very considerate of the needs of each table. They check on you when needed and attempts to mimimize the disturbance while serving food. The view is wonderful!! No where in Charleston can compete with this scenery. However, that type of view is not free. The prices are a little higher but worth the cost. If the food is good, the service is good and the view is great, then I am happy!"

  • "The views are great and food is middle of the road for charleston seafood. There is some very good competition 1 mile away at Shem Creek. Not bad food but slightly higher cost for the location. The service is very poor. Two tables next to us had to get up and chase down the check after waiting patiently for 30 minutes for the server to return. No follow-up on drinks etc...Servers just disappear for long periods of time. Our server said the kitchen staff was all new and had trouble reading the orders. I would go back for lunch or happy hour to enjoy the views. I would take a pass on dinner."

  • "Second time there. Flatbread, salads, and Pink Snapper dishes were excellent. LARGE salads! Great Mashed potatoes, and for someone in the South since 1979 can say they have the BEST collards!! Made (and recognized) small mistake on the flatbread, realized issue, and had corrected version out ASAP. Went home with "free" mistake! If we have a tough time deciding where to go, this will be the one!"

  • "Service was extremely slow with mostly empty tables. Salad was warm, breadsticks were refrigerator cold inside, beer was room temperature. Waiter came to our table a total of 3 times. He took the order, brought the beers after having to be flagged down and asked, and he brought our check. We will not return."

  • "They weren't very busy and it took an hour for them to prepare our lunch. When it finally arrived the bread on two out of three of our sandwiches was frozen. Several minutes later they came out with the same rolls.. Not fresh ones.. Still cold. Rather than comping our sandwiches they gave us a free dessert."

  • "Great food and my guests enjoyed it! The tower appetizer was so good and we enjoyed every bit of it. They were so fresh and i never had it in any restaurant. The upper bar is amazing and the enclosed hall was perfect for my guests who have medical problems."

  • "Charleston Fish House was simply terrific on the 4th of July. The view was outstanding. We watched the fireworks coming up over the aircraft carrier, The Yorktown. We had wonderful shrimp scampi, and lots of great drinks (our bartender was Eric. he certainly knows how to mix a great drink) We had dinner at the bar, along with some other very jovial people. Service, food and ambience are outstanding at the Fish House. Parking is easy. We left just before the fireworks finished to get off the Point without much of a problem. We live right here in Mount Pleasant and don't go to Fish House often enough!"

  • "Went on July 4th. Was not even allowed to drive down the road the restaurant was on had to find potluck parking beside the road and way a long ways. Reception staff and manager unfriendly, unhelpful. Waiter was good. Food was good on the steak and salmon, the crab cakes were terrible, had filler and spice. I like my crab cakes to be just crab meat. Probably would not return. View was beautiful of harbor."

  • "Our family wanted a nice relaxing dinner on the water. We were a little disappointed, because the seats were inside. It looked liked they could have opened some doors, but it still turned out to be a beautiful view. You can see the USS Yorktown, the bridge, and a beautiful view of the water. The food was excellent. I had shrimp scampi and had never tasted anything that good. Great kids menu."

  • "As usual the food and service was excellent. All orders were delivered promptly and serve hot, Service was beyond compare. My only problem was the sun shining in on the porch dining area.. It was hard to see my follow diners without straining."

  • "Went to the restaurant on 6/27/14. The food on this particular night was not up to par. I ordered the pan fried grouper and sent it back because it was raw in the middle. In the meantime, my husband ordered the wahoo and when it arrived it was so tough and overcooked you literally could not cut it with a knife. It was like leather. Needless to say, it went back as well. The second time around was a little better although my grouper still was uncooked in the center so I ate around it. Portions of the wahoo were tough so my husband also ate around the tough area. I actually left more on my plate than I ate. This is really not typical of this restaurant so I guess it was just a bad night for the chef."

  • "Charleston Harbor, evening out with husband ... I had something else in my head and this wasn't it. Service was very good - thank you Sebastian! The ambience was more casual than expected, my error. Next time we'll bring the kids for lunch. The food was OK, fried green tomatoes appetizer, she crab soup, fried seafood platters. The inside reminded me of a cafeteria until a staffer opened the garage-style windows facing the Harbor and that helped the view to the ships. He explained there was dust in the area due to construction. All in all a pleasant enough experience, and we will be back for lunch with a crowd."

  • "This was the second time we have dined with the Charleston Harbor Fish House. It's absolutely wonderfull!!! We live 4 hours away so can't visit as often as we would like. But, we do have plans to visit each opportunity we get. Thanks!"

  • "Good menu with well thought out entrees. Nice wine selection. The view is great from any table as it overlooks Patriots Point and the Harbor. The price is a little much for me to consider this a regular dining spot (most entrees in the $22-30 range), but it is a nice place to bring someone from "off" just for the view alone!"

  • "Food was really good with excellent presentation style. However I would not recommend this restaurant because of the poor ambience, uncomfortable chairs, poor seating area, lukewarm staff, and noise level. Also, the prices were high considering the amount of food and the poor seating environment. We were seated downstairs and it appeared that the upstairs area belonged to another business . The view was excellent, but was partially blocked by wide metal frames of the windows. All staff were bored with their jobs and not glad to be there."

  • "We wanted to try a new Restaraunt for a birthday celebration dinner and we saw this place while traveling down to Mt. P. so we thought we would try it. The ambiance was fantastic but the service and food left something to be desired. There were 6 people in our party and 3 of us ordered the filet. Two of the steaks were ordered medium and the other was medium well. Upon receiving our food one filet was more on the side of medium rare and another was almost rare. When our food was taken back to the kitchen it came back over cooked. Needless to say we won't be going back to this establishment. There are too many other great Restaraunts in Charleston to try this one again."
