Shrimp and grits is known for the GRITS, the sauce and the SHRIMP... Charleston's Fish house lacked the GRITS portion in their entree. Also, if it is going to have the name Fish House, may I suggest having a wider variety of fish on the menu? Last, the she crab soup was tasty, but the soup texture was more like she crab water.. Thickening the soup is suggested.

Wanted to try the restaurant based on tv ads and the harbor view. The night was overcast so there was no view (not the restaurants fault). The food could have made up for it but it just didn't. My wife said her Mahi-Mahi was just okay. My scallops were watery and under cooked and my shrimp was so heavily battered I had to peel it before eating. The clam chowder soup was great and that's about all. Service was excellent but the food wasn't good enough for us to ever return.

The Sunday brunch was excellent, especially the steak & egg plate I enjoyed. The service was good, the staff pleasant and informative, and the atmosphere was relaxing, helped by the great view of the bridge, ships, the harbor, and the across the water city view.

We had family in from out of town that wanted seafood, but we didn't feel like fighting the down town Saturday night crowds. The location is easy to get to, and had a great view of the carrier and Charleston. We had the crab dip appetizer, which was excellent. The fried shrimp and raw oysters were up-to par, but those are pretty standard fare, so there's only so much you can do. The outstanding item for me was the grits, a perfect blend of cheese and hint of garlic. Our waiter, Jacob, topped it off by bringing out a perfect chocolate lava cake for the birthday person.

The restaurant is beautiful. The view of the harbor is beautiful. Service and food was excellent. But the noise level was stressful. We could not have a conversation with our family at our table. By the time our food arrived, we were exhausted from the effort to listen to our family. It made the experience very uncomfortable. So many things they could do to reduce the noise.

Like many restaurants with a great view, the food and service is unfortunately not to par with the location. While we had notified the restaurant in our reservation that our dinner was for a special occasion there was absolutely no effort to make this dinner feel a bit special. The best time we had was at the bar before we got to our table. The food was OK, certainly not great. The recommended wines were very ordinary.

A group of us met at the Charleston Harbor Fish House for lunch, coming from other parts of the state. No one had been there before. The seating is situated so that you have an unobstructed view of the harbor, but especially the USS Yorktown--very dramatic. The menu had something for everyone, and all of us enjoyed our meals. W!

Enjoyed another meal here on Wednesday Night (Nov. 5). Our waitress, Danielle, greeted us warmly, took our drink orders and retrieved crayons for the kids. Enjoyed the beautiful views/sunset while munching on some hushpuppies. All of our food was delicious, and everyone ordered a different seafood dish (Lobster Ravioli, Shrimp Scampi, Grouper, Tuna, Steam Pot) Portions were good, leaving all of us full and only the kids needing to have their meals boxed up. A couple of us ordered dessert to go (the Carrot Cake was excellent!) Great location, great menu, reasonable prices. A must visit!

We were disappointed with the quality of the food overall for the price. The waiter was nice but from the appetizers to our dinner, everything came out very slow. I know the view is great and maybe we would try it for lunch, if lunch is less expensive. We had far better meals for less money in the charleston, mount pleasant area.

We were favorably surprised after having read some tepid reviews. This place was first rate. The she-crab soup was scrumptious. We also recommend the shrimp & grits and the scallops. Key lime pie was outstanding. We shared both the appetizer and dessert as they were large portions. We came in just after sunset and enjoyed a view of the harbor and bridge. You will be thrilled with the attentive service!

To start off with this restaurant is in a very beautiful location with a great view of the USS Yorktown. We showed up about and hour early and told the hostess that we were early and if they had seats available. The restaurant was about a quarter full but it was like I blew up her world with showing early. I told it is was not a big deal and said that I would sit in the bar and wait until my reservation time. Once seated our waiter was very nice and kind of attentive. It took the restaurant 20 mins to serve us our drinks and even longer to get our order in. Over the course of the night "2+hrs" our service was slow and it felt like we where not the only ones. I hope to visit again in a year or so and see if it is under new management.

The first time we attended, everything started out really good. Our waiter was personable and energetic. He made some really good recommendations and the appetizers we server very promptly. After that all of the service seemed to drop off. We sat waiting almost an hour waiting for our entre. Several people started to come over to apologize, but the food still did not come. We were given a free drink and some crab cakes, but in the end our bill was still over $150. Wish they had done a little more to lure us back for a second visit.

I think i found your missing salt…. on my salmon… as i drank through my water quickly after eating each bite… the waiter was very helpful prior to receiving my entree but after…. he nor the expeditor could be found… hence the water glass was empty. The bill arrived about 10 minutes after the completion of my meal, decided not to order dessert as the bill being placed on my table meant to me… don't bother...

The service at the The Fish House was outstanding and the view was pleasant with the exception of the blinding afternoon sun coming through windows with no shades. I ordered snapper which was exquisitly prepared. The sides were good but not great. I probably will return simply because of the quality of the seafood.

Our server was very attentive! The food was good, and in large portions. I had the fried scallops, and they filled the plate! My son (16) had the salmon and there was not a bite left. He said it was the best Mac n Cheese he ever had for his side! My husband had the fish special of the day... swordfish blackened, and it was excellent as well. The view was outstanding. I asked for a table with a view, and was seated right by a window, the sun was shining in our eyes, and there was no issue with us changing to another table, which even a row back had a fabulous view! after dinner, we walked over to the marina to finish enjoying the sunset.

We decided to eat there because it was a rainy night and we were staying on the compound. Boy, was that a great decision. A great example of Southern hospitality!! Our server was Skittles, he was charming, knowledgeable and very well-versed in the food. He recommended a few other Charleston restaurants we should eat at as well as helped us choose some wine. The manager stopped by and greeted us and the hostess was very pleasant. We definitely had a great start to our Charleston vacation.

Service was excellent. Restaurant was sparkling clean and decorated nicely. We sat on the screened porch area as the temperature was just right. Air smelled fresh and view was beautiful. Two of us had the pecan encrusted grouper. My plate had nice presentation, but upon first bite, I tasted burnt. The encrusted part had burnt in spots and fallen off much of my grouper. The dish was luke warm and didn't taste freshly prepared. My husband ordered the overly breaded fish and chips. I noticed he didn't finish, even though he has a big appetite. The tuna poke dish looked like a five year older threw stuff together. If food was better, I would go regularly. This restaurant is good to have a drink and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
