  • "I ordered my 22oz Ribeye medium rare, it came medium well. I don't send back a piece of meat unless it isn't edible because an animal gave it's life and that means something. That being said, it was tasty and I got full, but for the money, I don't see the portions or taste being worth the price. The bread, one roll, was the best I have ever had."

  • "We were really looking forward to dining at the Charleston Grill based on other reviews, however were pretty disappointed. I guess it is just "not my type" when it comes to restaurants, a little too formal. The table we sat at was especially weird, and probably contributed to the poor experience. It was a booth that both my husband and I sat next to each other, so it was awkward (and we were directly facing another couple straight across from our table). Also the food was slow to get to us, and when we mentioned this, the staff over reacted a bit. Everything tasted fine, just overall an awkward experience."

  • "We have been trying all the Charleston restaurants and this by far the best. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings. The Foie Gras was the best we ever have had.the lobster dish with noodles was amazing as well. Pricey but worth it. Will now be my go to restaurant when I can get a reservation ....Enjoy❤️"

  • "Being from CA we seek fois gras whenever out of state. Enjoyed it here as a seared starter, and again on the venison entre. Being in the south we also had shrimp & flounder grits which totally changed my mind about the usually tasteless grits. Started our evening in the gorgeous bar & moved to even prettier dining room. A duo fiddle & guitar from the bar entertained with pop hits that made us smile. Beginning w/amuse buche & ending w/small cookie sampler took this experience over the top. You will not be dissapointed!"

  • "The food was exceptional as always and the service was consistent and without fault. We love this dining room as it offers all the old style dining of starched linens and wait staff who call you by name. A note in open table was picked up by the staff and my husband was served gluten free bread! The Iberian ham and the potatoes gratin were exceptional; the pork chop was the best I've had anywhere! It was a little disappointing to see many (especially men) too casually dressed. I don't mean with no jacket, I mean no pants! Shorts and sandels in what I consider a fine dining establishment."

  • "Don't miss out on the best part of the menu... Dessert. I usually pass but their coffee service and dessert were outstanding. Excellent service from Chip and Steve, both super knowledgable of their products. Dinner was almost a three hour event for the two of us. It was romantic and a wonderful way to spend an evening with music and great comfort. Worth the $."

  • "We travelled from TN and TX to Charteston to celebrate my mother-in law's 70th Birthday and there is no better place than the Charleston Grill for such an important celebration. Mickey as always, makes it a special event to remember. Thank you again so much Mickey. We are in your eternal debt. Brian was our waiter and he again helped make our night there a wonderful one. If you have a special occassion to celebrate, you can't do better than Mickey & his team at the Charleston Grill."

  • "The highlight of our trip to Charleston. The prices are steep, but the food is absolutely worth it. Complimented with outstanding service and live music, this was a true experience. The hours slipped away as we cleaned every morsel from every plate. Of note is that we requested to sit near the musicians. This worked well for us as we were very excited for the jazz, but it was loud, at times. All in all, though, a phenomenal experience."

  • "Josh and John made my birthday a special night to remember. They made sure every guest at the table receive exceptional service. Our steaks were done to perfection, tasty and tender. My wife and I split a beet salad, it was flavorful and very eye appealing. Our desert was complete with a plate of petit fours and chocolates. We traveled nearly 500 miles to dine in Charleston and it was worth every effort to find the Charleston Grill. Calling the restaurant ahead for it's location helps because it is not located on the street but inside an upscale mall."

  • "We had dinner on a Wednesday evening and we were seated by the jazz quartet. They were very good but the proximity made it difficult to have conversation. The restaurant has an elegant ambience but the food was disappointing. I ordered the tenderloin from the Lush menu and it arrived with a reduction sauce that was so thick and sweet it tasted like barbecue sauce. The beef was tender but the sauce was inedible. The other diners enjoyed their dinners but did find them lacking in flavor. We felt the prices were on the high side for these less than exceptional meals. We opted not to order dessert. With so many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Charleston I doubt that I would return to this one."

  • "Beatiful restaurant complemented with Jazz (most eve's) can make for a romantic evening. Food is fine but nothing that "knocks your socks off". The salmon ordered was fine but again, nothing more. Appetizers were not suited for sharing and again, just OK but not memorable. Service was good but you never got the feeling that you were special. Should not have to wait for a server to either serve the bread or add another piece. All in all, the food does not support the high prices.and while the overall experience is fine for a special occassion, if you are looking for a memorable meal, there are better choices..."

  • "Knowing what I know after having dined at CG once with a guest, I'd go a second time splitting every dish. For example, the filet mignon (at $48) had two (2) steaks - enough for two! And the rack of lamb ($52) had two (2) dinosaur-size double-rib chops -- again, enough for two! Add a $10 order of cauliflower and you would have had a far more reasonably priced meal that would not have stretched the budget - or the digestive tract. The wine list is encyclopedic, with many good values under $70 (but don't expect to pay under $45)."

The food was spectacular, but it's really the ambience that will keep me coming back. It's dim and swanky, but doesn't feel like a stiff good-old boys club.
