Charleston GrillA Perenial Top 10 For Good ReasonsThe Charleston Grill is just simply amazing, always delivering a culinary experience that is unmatched and will remain our favorite in the city. The Ordinary is equal in food and service, but does not have the ambience The Charleston Grill does. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceFood was unbelievable, so good we had to go back the next day. Great service6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy without snobberyWhat service! Totally deserving all all accolades received. The Grill uses a team approach very effectively to provide exemplary service. The food is terrific but the memory taken away from dinner is the cordiality and graciousness of the entire staff. You'll spend some money for this experience, but it's well worth it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDo Not MissOverlooked for many years due to location we finally dined recently and found the Grill lived up to all its publicity as one of Charleston's best. Well worth a visit. Great hospitality from the staff.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMANNIVERSARY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONEXCELLENT SERVICE, FANTASTIC MUSIC AND THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestThe CG was our third "top 10 restaurants" dinner in 4 days. Bottom line- start with the best and you can forgo the rest. We started with a warm greeting, by name, from the hostesses and GM Mickey when we arrived. Our server Nicole was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable about the dishes and helpful with recommendations. The service was outstanding, not rushed, and seamless in anticipating our next need. The soup and quail (fall off the bone succulent) were phenomenal appetizers and the entrees (duck and tenderloin) were cooked to perfection. The lemon meringue baked alaska was a great combination of flavors. The live jazz music was definitely not too loud and provided the perfect back drop to a wonderful meal.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience !We were a party of 4 celebrating a special birthday & our dinner here at the Charleston Grill was a highlight of our trip.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Celebration !We celebrated our 45 th wedding anniversary at the Charleston Grill. There were many restaurants
to choose from in this beautiful city. However, family living in the area, highly recommended
The Charleston Grill for our special occasion. They were SO right......a perfect place for a celebration!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWe visit it once a year on our annual trip to Charleston. It was supurb, as usual.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways on pointNever disappoints. Food was excellent - try the crab cake. I had a butterscotch mousse dessert that was one of the best things I've ever ate. Love all the complimentary tastings the chefs prepare. Service is the best anywhere. Great jazz, which is never overly loud either, just the right volume.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSelect the Chef Tasting menuThe Chef Tasting menu with wine pairing is a don't miss. A bit pricey, but well worth it. All the staff were knowledgeable and quite good. We've eaten many places around the world and would put this in the top 5.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey, but deliciousI really enjoyed this restaurant. The menu is divided into 4 categories (slightly pretentious, and unnecessary in my opinion, as all menu items blends well together, and you are told that you can choose from any category). The food is excellently prepared. I especially enjoyed the pear salad, and the duck breast in hosion sauce.
I recommend this restaurant, especially for special occassions. Be prepared, a three course meal with wine is likely to cost $70-$85 per person.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPut this at the top of your list!Charleston Grill is remarkable in both food and service. We couldn't have asked for a better tasting dinner and service. The staff was attentive and informative yet they left us alone to chat. The wine selection is one of the best I have ever seen. Comfortable atmosphere as well. We'll be back!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience! My husband and best friend and I had a wonderful experience here while visiting Charleston. The live jazz music was wonderful, our cocktails were original and tasty, everyone was very friendly and our service was impeccable. The food was melt in your mouth delicious and we were completely sated on every level by the time we left. We will definitely go there everytime we visit the city and would heartily recommend it to all our friends and family. We were all still talking about it the next day!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Anniversary Dinner...Took my wife for our Anniversary dinner. Treated like visiting royalty the entire evening. The food was amazing and the service was truly world-class. It was a little loud due to the live jazz band, but that's ok. We enjoyed that too. Charleston Grill is one of the best, maybe the best, fine dining establishment in town.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodWent for special occassion and we were not dissappointed. Chef Michelle Weaver does herself proud.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Charleston Dining ExperienceOutstanding food and service. Great menu selection for variety of tastes. Foie Gras was best ever had. Nice live background music.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food Great Service RomanticMy wife and I were staying at the Charleston Place for a long weekend and we read some reviews of this restaurant and decided to make a reservation. We were greeted with such class at the hostess stand. We were seated right in front of the Jazz band playing and it was not too loud so still very enjoyable. The nice part about the menu is that there is something for everyone on this menu. The presentation was beautiful and the balance of flavors were perfect. I have eaten at 4 and 5 starter restaurants around the world and this one ranks right up there. Everyone that came to the table greeted us Mr. & Mrs. our last name. It was a nice touch and there was even a Anniversary surprise at the end our meal for desert.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston Grill consistentlyCharleston Grill consistently offers a luxurious dining experience. The wait staff was attentative, but not overbearing. The food was beautifully presented and expertly prepared. It is our restaurant of choice for special occasions and enntertaining out of town guest.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTreated like very special guestsThe Charleston Grill, with its dark wood paneling and live jazz quartet, exudes warmth. The food is creative and delicious. But it's the service that really sets the Charleston Grill on an elite level. My wife and I were visiting from LA and we experienced the meaning of southern hospitality. Our servers were two knowledgeable and friendly young ladies who made us feel very at home, but it was General Manager, Mickey Bakst, who made the evening unforgettable. He took us under his wing, guiding us through the imaginative menu, pairing wines with each course and stopping by our table as each dish was delivered to make sure we were happy. Over dessert he sat and chatted with us. Thanks, Mickey. It was a truly magical evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat For Special OccasionMy husband took me there for my birthday. Romantic little place with a jazz ensemble. Food was very good. I had the crabcake and cheese grits. Husband had the lamb chops. Service was fantastic. Extensive wine list and server even allowed a half glass when I didn't want another whole. Enjoyed every bite!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a beautiful restaurantWhat a beautiful restaurant - first class in every respect. And the live guitar/violin music was a joy to listen to. Each bite is a work of art!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! My husband and I went to the Charleston Grill for our anniversary. I had the pear salad and the flounder with shrimp and grits. My husband had the potato soup and tenderloin. We shared a side order of cauliflower. Everything was prepared to absolute perfection. My flounder was slightly crispy at the edges and perfectly cooked, served with 3 nicely seasoned shrimp on top of a delicious bed of grits - yum! My husband's tenderloin was amazingly tender and very flavorful. The cauliflower was delicious - even according to my husband who isn't a cauliflower fan. They have a nice wine list including a good variety of upper end wines in the half bottle sizes. The ambiance was just right for our romantic dinner and we really enjoyed ourselves.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI made a note when i booked the reservation that it was our anniversary. We were greeted and congratulated that it was our anniversary, a card on the table for our anniversary, and the servers all congratulated us as well. The service was impeccable, Charleston Grill is the epitome of FINE dining. The attention to detail and courtesy even as you walk through the restaurant is phenomenal. After an excellent meal, complimentary candies were provided with a chocolate "Happy Anniversary as well". A truly wonderful experience that will keep us coming back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Shelf! In a town known for food and great dining venues....this one is a homerun! I guess that is why they have a 4 star dining award. The food which is the heart of every dining experience was incredible and the service was just as outstanding as you would hope and expect. This is a "do not miss, must experience" dinner. If you love quality, flavor, service, presentation and an outstanding dining experience, you should have made your reservation 10 minutes ago!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNice, But NoisyThe noise level in this restaurant is AWFUL. You visit will be fantastic!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great NightGreat food plus music made for a memorable experience in Charleston. Steak tenderloin, salmon were excellent.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can wear business casual! We live in Charleston but had never eaten at Charleston Grill. We enjoy going to fine dinning restaurants. We called Charleston Place and asked about attire and a young girl told us "black tie"! "OMG!", I said, "we need to cancel our reservations, we are not prepared for black tie". The young girl transferred me to the restaurant. The restaurant desk pleaded with me not to cancel and said it was not black tie. The recommended gentlemen attire is at least a jacket but a tie is not required. She said some people will show up in jeans (not appropriate to me). So we went in our nice slacks, scarfs, dresses and sports jacket. We were dressed fine and was told so by hostess. So glad we went! Thanks Charleston Grill for a great dinner!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Charleston GrillGreat food and service, great jazz, and beautiful setting.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM1st Wedding AnniversaryWe stayed at the Charleston Place Hotel on our wedding night, so we thought dining at the Charleston Grill on our 1st anniversary would be the perfect idea - and it was. They gave us a very nice, intimate corner table overlooking the courtyard, and they also placed a greeting card wishing us a happy anniversary on our table, which we thought was such a thoughtful touch. The food was as delicious as we had expected, and the service was top-notch. To top it all off, when it came time for dessert, they sent out a petit fours plate that had a "Happy Anniversary" sign made out of chocolate. It was the perfect ending to what had already been a very special evening. We are sure to be returning for other special occasions in the future.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday evening around 7 isSunday evening around 7 is the perfect time to experience Charleston Grille. Not only is the food spectacular (try the crab cake), but the music and ambiance can't be beat. Incredible attention to deal and delicious food. Will certainly return when in Charleston.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLovelyWe really really enjoyed our experience at the Charleston Grill. We trekked there from our rental in Mt. Pleasant and it was WELL worth it. The chef's palate teaser was wonderful and all the food we ordered was extraordinary. Love the way the menu was layed out with 3 different categories to give you and idea of what goes with what. My husband was worried he'd have to eat everything from one section but we were pleased that you could pick and choose from the 3 different sections. The service was impeccable and our waiter helped us find a few other dining options for our stay that week. The bartender was also fantastic for our pre-dinner cocktails. Both were attentive and extremely helpful.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMperfectThis was wonderful and one of the best meals I have ever had.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a great dining experience. This was a great dining experience. Thank you Open Table for making it a 1,000 point table.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA Memorable Southern MealA wonderful experience, from start to finish. Subdued jazz music, a full dining room, and attentive service complement the exquisite cuisine. I had all Southern favorites: crab cake with shrimp appetizer, and local flounder with shrimp too.
