I also bring customers for lunch/dinner about twice a month as they are always impressed with the quality of food. This is the only spot I ever consider for special occasions as I am never disappointed.

We had a great meal, with superior service. No one had any complaints.
Not only was the meal outstanding, the restaurant provided a "grad" gift in the form of a gift certificate.

I was disappointed that not many of the diners bothered to dress appropriately to celebrate events much like we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Jeans, runners and flannel plaid shirts don't scream "Special". Business casual should be the minimum norm for all guests.
As for the food, the daily soup was hot, fresh and flavorful and the salad, had a good balance of ingredients including the dressing. My steak was perfect although my wife's salmon was a bit too well done. We chose a Thursday evening reservation figuring the restaurant woud have less patrons and give us more time to enjoy the experience.
The appetizers were just super. My wife had both the oysters and the crab cakes; she said both were the best she ever had. I, myself had the French onion soup and the escargots, the soup was fine but the snails were superb.
We both odered Sirlion steak with peppercorn sauce on the side. Excellent, properly cooked and flavourful - WOW. I'm a pretty old guy and remember the days when there was a steak house every few blocks.

Right from the time we walked in, we knew service was going to be excellent. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation, and they promptly seated us.
The brought fresh rolls and butter, and the crab cakes were to die for! Our steaks came excellently prepared, and we were brought a special desert to celebrate our occasion.

The food is always top notch as well as the service. My last visit was a business lunch as I was asked to choose a restaurant that serves a good steak. I of course chose Charcoal. My associate ordered the prime rib beef lunch and was not disappointed and quite impressed. I opted for a poppy seed pickerel with a spinach salad starter that comes in a "power lunch" special. Twice I have ordered this lunch special now and it also includes a "power bar" but I have never received any such bar. Maybe you have to ask for it specifically? Anyway, salad was absolutely heavenly for me. Spinach, dried apricots, red onion, goat cheese and pecans and I absolutely loved it. Tuna Tartar was excellent. Fritto Misto was done just right with light feel to it. We ordered a grass feeded PEI Striploin, Bone In NY Striploin and Omaha Ribeye. The The PEI had the best texture of all three. Chewy in a very good way. Ribeye was very marbled to my liking.
We had the cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. I didn't get to try the cheesecake but my two friends had commented it was very excellent.
The service was very good. Avery has done her usually great. Attentive but not pushy. She seems to know when we need her and when we don't.
Two friends were come from Mississauga.
