Charcoal Steak HouseStill the "The Charcoal Steakhouse"It's the Charcoal Steakhouse. Exceptional service and still a great ambiance. I was disappointed that not many of the diners bothered to dress appropriately to celebrate events much like we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Jeans, runners and flannel plaid shirts don't scream "Special". Business casual should be the minimum norm for all guests.
As for the food, the daily soup was hot, fresh and flavorful and the salad, had a good balance of ingredients including the dressing. My steak was perfect although my wife's salmon was a bit too well done. One disappointment was that the melange of vegetables on both of our plates had a very heavy undertone of freshly ground black pepper preventing us from savoring other more subtle flavors.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentFood was fantastic. We love Charcoal. Always friendly and overall great experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers DayMy nephews dinner came out 15 minutes before the rest of ours so his was almost gone before we received ours. They did end up giving us free dessert for it.
I had to send my pasta back as I have chosen mushrooms and it only had one on it. Sauce was good but not creamy enough.
And the table beside us let their baby scream too much.
Our waitress was amazing. She was patient and friendly. Always making sure we had drinks and answering any questions we had.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the varied menuOur group of 5 had a very enjoyable evening. The recently changed menu provided lots of variety, the food tasted wonderful, and our service was great.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMend really ruined the experiencethis is my favorite restaurant, and i spent days talking it up to my GF before i took her there for the first time, for romantic dinner. after what was about to be a perfect evening, a large party was sat in front of us, and was yelling down the table to each other, essentially taking a romantic date, which we dressed up for, and making it a pub experience, barely able to hear each other over the large group.
Everything else was perfect, great wine, a selection of food she hadn't seen in years, to the point she was excited about her meal coming, because it had been years since she last had that option
it should have been perfect, and almost was. $200 on dinner later, it wasn't what i planned.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable dinner for threeThe oysters were very fresh. Tuna Tartar was excellent. Fritto Misto was done just right with light feel to it. We ordered a grass feeded PEI Striploin, Bone In NY Striploin and Omaha Ribeye. The The PEI had the best texture of all three. Chewy in a very good way. Ribeye was very marbled to my liking.
We had the cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. I didn't get to try the cheesecake but my two friends had commented it was very excellent.
The service was very good. Avery has done her usually great. Attentive but not pushy. She seems to know when we need her and when we don't.
Two friends were come from Mississauga. They have commented it will cost at least another 25% more for this quality of steak in Toronto.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressedAll of our party members were delighted with the dining experience at "The Charcoal". Thank you!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the whole experience.Enjoyed the whole experience. Food, service and ambience.
