Chandler's - Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & SpaLovely dinner.My son took me here for a belated Mother's Day dinner. We were impressed by the calmness of the lobby. The table we had was at the window as it was too cool to sit outside, although many tables were filled. The food was excellent, starting with the beet salad. My son had the rib-eye steak which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet, which also was cooked to his taste. I had the sea bass. It was exactly the right size, and the spinace was delicious. The desserts were also excellent.
My son works at a local resort and said he would certainly recommend this restaurant. Must go to :)The food was GREAT !!! Everything was unbeliveable ! Service at the bar was real good but the Service for dineing could of been better. Had to ask for water. Butter and they didn't give me a steak knive for my steak. Had to ask for that. But the food made up for the lack of good service. We just chalked it up to our waiter was new, you could tell he was really trying . We will be back and will tell anyone it is worth it. The place is very clean, noise wasn't too bad even with live music in the back ground which actually added to the experience. Food was great, drinks were a little expensive, however they were very good. Highly recommended for 2 people or groups up to 6. Lunch is more low key and quiet. Great view of the ocean. Both occasions were lunch engagements, and the place is relatively quiet at lunchtime. It's got beautiful views of the Ocean, and the hotel and restaurant are very sleek modern. The menue offers a nice selection, and the food is quite acceptable. I didn't find the French onion soup all that authentic, but it was still good. My one negative is the service: it's very slow. We had to ask for a food server from other staff passing by, after waiting quite a while for someone to show. The server was friendly and competent once he got there, but, again, the food was very slow in coming. What we did not like at all was the noise level. We wanted to have a romantic dinner and the place was so loud that we had to yell at each other to be heard. (our waitress said the same thing). I had been there once when Chandler's first opened and spoke about the noise levels then. They need to get sound buffers or separate the restaurant from the bar somehow. We may go back for happy hour but not for a nice quite, romantic dinner....as it is not worth it!3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Good ExperienceWe live close by so we hit Chandlers up a couple times a month, if not more. The food wasn't stellar this time around, but the service was great and the drinks were fantastic.
