Diner Reviews
  • "Myself and two of my siblings had dinner here on the recommendation of a friend who lives in San Francisco. It was fantastic! Trendy interior - dimmer lighting, vinyl records on shelves, comfortable seating. Great cocktails as well - their take on the Manhattan was delicious. Highly recommend."

  • "Chambers is one of those amazing gems that you could never guess would look like it does inside from the street. While the food can be very hit or miss (in that some dishes are amazing, while others are not, at least it is very consistent in which dishes are the best. The real benefits are the ambiance, and how it transitions perfectly from a restaurant into a late-night bar. It's easy to spend an entire night at Chambers without feeling like you've been in one place the whole time. Also, pretty much everyone who works there is super nice and helpful, so you always feel welcome."

  • "Great place to eat in the late morning early afternoons! Walking down the street in the TL; upon entering the restaurant, you're magically whisked away to the wonderful world of the 50's and 60's with vinyls lining the wall, and interesting light fixtures. Their bloody mary was delicious and spicy. The food was playful, modern, but also had hints of tradition. Overall a great experience."

  • "Love the vinyl clad walls, the retro/modern furniture and fixtures, the fab staff and yummy eats! The staff made sound recommendations on the menu and the burger and butternut squash was to die for! Everything was perfect! I cant wet to come back! :)"

  • "Great brunch! Hangover Hash, so good you wish you had a hangover. Pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth good, like it should. Sit outside if you can and get a view of the outside, modernly designed, space and pool. Fun atmosphere is the least likely of spaces. Make a reservation in advance so you don't need to wait on the streets of the Tenderloin."

  • "Don't let the hotel next to the restaurant fool you. EXCELLENT! Fun 70s decor. Drinks amazing. The Vodka Drink is great. The fish dish was excellent. Tater tots, Brussels sprouts and farmers market veggies were great. Definitely coming back again."

  • "What a perfect place to enjoy Saturday brunch with friends....outdoors, sunny, protected from wind, bottomless mimosas, great food and very attentive service. Please don't tell anyone, we want to keep this to ourselves!"

  • "chambers is a great place to have a date night at. The menu is great, and cocktails and fabulous. I accidentally made a reservation for 10:30 instead or 9:30, and they were able to get us a table at 9:30. The DJ was great! Only complaint was the "gin drink" cocktail ...it was too sweet for my taste."

  • "We love this place! My boyfriend and I went with another couple and had a blast! The only complaint is that by the time we got to our 8:15 reservation the bar was already out of 2 drinks and both the salad and dessert we ordered were out."

  • "The ambiance was great, but the food on the other hand was not good! It took a really long time for our main course to come out. My husband and I shared the rib eye and shoe string fries. After waiting about 45 minutes for our food, we got it cold. By that point I was starving and wanted to send it back but was sure I was going to experience another long wait. For the price you pay in this place, its not worth it. Our dining experience was very disappointing."

  • "This is our second brunch, and our love for Chambers Eat + Drink just grows and grows. Between the two of us, my husband and I have now tasted 6 items from Brunch and every single one was AMAZING. We are beginning to wonder if it's possible for this kitchen to disappoint us. Our biggest fear at this point is that Chambers will go all froufy and super popular on us, and we won't be able to get a table anymore, let alone afford it. Please don't ever change!!!!"

  • "drinks were great, good n spicy bloody mary. eggs royale were fantastic, but could use a little more caviar as a salty element. friend loved the pork belly. we will come again, but not at night, since the hipster element is in overdrive lately."

  • "The place is gorgeous and that was the only good thing about it. I read the menu online beforehand, although the ingredients were diff and fresh (not your normal brunch food), it wasn't knocking my socks off. We had the tofu hash, quinoa salad and pork belly. I would def recommend the pork belly. And of course the bottomless mimosa. It def had more OJ than was needed and it would have been nice to be topped off before they closed. The server didn't bother letting us know they were closing, so we had to leave. I had high hopes of the place, but its still worth one try."

  • "Delicious food, trendy, hip atmosphere are a given but the surprise was the kind and caring service. My 18 year old daughter had surgery a month before our brunch here and had to be careful what she ate. Though she thought she has ordered carefully she didn't understand what the ingredient farrow was. Not being something she could digest, she was going to try to eat around it. The very kind server offered to replace the dish to accommodate her. We were touched at this consideration."

  • "This is our new favorite restaurant. We live two blocks away and are kicking ourselves for all the lost time that we could have been eating amazing food in an amazing setting with fabulous service! My husband and I came for dinner two nights ago and were so blown away that we invited a couple of friends to brunch this morning. Everyone loved it so much that one of our friends is already planning on having his birthday dinner here. I'm not going to go into details of the dishes we ate, because it will take too long- between husband and I we have now tasted 6 plates plus dessert and every single one of them was a delight not only to eat, but also to look at. Very inventive flavors, perfectly sized portions, ROCKING drinks! Do not miss!"

  • "Chambers is an oasis in the Tenderloin. HOping more great places will open nearby. The walk to and from the restaurant can be scary. But the hotel and restaurant are welcoming, warm and fun. Great food!"

  • "This restaurant was full of surprises. It's in an unlikely location, within the Phoenix Hotel in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Initially, we walked right passed the door, which has no sign. Once inside, we loved the funky decor. The walls are constructed of vinyl record collections. Seating was comfortable and cozy. People were also eating outside by the hotel pool. The cocktails and food were delicious. Our salad was a visual work of art and just as tasty. Don't miss the house-made tater tots. The steak and burger were also excellent."

  • "I would definitely recommend Chambers. Menu isn't huge but there is something for everyone. Neighborhood is sketchy so just be aware of that if you are walking to it. Use Uber to get there."

  • "I have been wanting to try this place for a while the reviews have been widely excellent. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgable, and the food was fantastic. Took 2 friends that live outside of SF, and we had the the tri-tip, ribeye, red quinoa salad, butternut squash & brussell sprouts. All of which we delicious. I would give the service 5 starts except we kinda felt rushed toward the end with the check. This might have had something to do with the fact that the night time crowd was starting to fill up the bar, after all our reservation was for 8pm on a saturday."

  • "We went to Chambers for brunch because they take reservations and we didn't feel like standing in line. The restaurant had a lot of open tables and we chose to sit outside by the pool. There were heat lamps to make it comfortable for us. The food was great, but a little bit on the pricier side. The taste and presentation definitely reflected the price, as almost everything was delicious and looked very nice. The service was great, despite us sitting outside. The waiter was attentive and didn't forget about us. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back."

  • "The sambal in the bloody Mary's brought me right back to Bali. We had the egg in a hole and coffee cake which were both fantastic. My friend had the hangover hash and said it was beyond amazing. Staff was super fun and friendly! Great way to start the New Year!"

  • "Food is great, but not worth the huge wait. We arrived on-time for our reservation, but were seated about 20 minutes late while numerous empty tables sat in the dining room. We found out, from our waitress, that the host was stalling for the kitchen. We were told the kitchen was behind due to a large party. We were surprised to find out "large" meant a table of about 12 people. The solution was to suggest that we order more food, to come out sooner than our entrees. The food, when it finally arrived, was great. But we'd snacked on a couple appetizers, and brunch time had come and gone - so we didn't have a huge appetite for the main course. By the time the check came, we were chomping at the bit to leave. We don't expect to return."

  • "Found this restaurant after a long day of traveling. Pulled up in front of a motel and wondered if I made a mistake. Turned the corner to find the entrance and a gem awaited us inside. Wonderful service, a great wine and cocktail list, and amazing food cured my travel exhaustion. The small plates were not only exceptional, they were prepared in a manner I've never seen (powdered bacon?). Loved everything about this place!"

  • "We come to Chambers once a month, but for the first time the food wasn't outstanding any more. It is still very good, but the Brussels sprouts which were once set apart from any Brussels sprouts in Bay Area were just good Brussels sprouts, the pork belly wasn't at just the right cattiness anymore and some of the less mainstream items disappeared from the menue all together."

  • "This is my 3rd visit to Chambers. The burger with pork belly is amazing. The tri tip is good too. We were given drinks on the house on account of a long wait. We didn't think it took that long to get our drinks but we appreciated the apology. The coffee cake is fantastic."

  • "Great for a nice night out. Energetic, fun and great drinks. Staff is very friendly and efficient. I like how it can be dressy, but not snobby. Good date spot!"

  • "Went here last minute for brunch on a Sunday. The good was really good, as we're the mimosas and bloody marys, but the service was horrible. Our waitress all but forgot about us and we had to ask for service. With all the great brunch spots in the city having just good food is not enough to make me return. I think I'll just stick to happy hour at Chambers."

  • "The neighbourhood presents a challenge to some. The Tenderloin District has many street people and this can be unpleasant. However, once you arrive you will be treated to a fantastic restaurant and nightclub. The server was engaging, the ambiance of the restaurant makes you want to stay all evening. The food took a little longer than I expected, but it was delicious, creatively presented, and fresh. I will definitely return. Noise level moderate mid week, but it's a nightclub on weekends."

  • "If you're out drinking and want a place to have some nice food and a fancy cocktail, this is the spot. Burger with avocado and pork belly was delicious, the ahi was solid, brussel sprouts simple but nice, and whatever else we got worked as well. I don't put this on par with any of the top restaurants in SF, but it's surprisingly good for what is essentially bar food."

  • "I love the food and atmosphere at Chambers. I have only ever been for brunch, but I can never decide what to get because everything on the menu sounds amazing. I have now ordered both the Egg In A Hold and the Egg Sandwich and have left feeling full and happy. The bottomless mimosas on Saturdays are also a nice touch. The atmosphere at Chambers is fun and funky with the cool rock theme and feeling you are sitting in some rockstar or music lover's private den. You can also sit outside and dine in the sun overlooking the pool at the Phoenix Hotel, making you feel like you've left the city and are resorting somewhere far and away. I definitely recommend this place if you want a great brunch and don't want to wait 2 hours to get into Brenda's."

  • "Can't get enough of the Kobe beef on the hot stone. I'm tempted to order 2 or 3 and just call it a day! Now to start working my way through the cocktail menu. So far the first three have been fantastic!"
