The remodeling of Chambar is outstanding, the location look amazing and the service and food is as extraordinary. For the level of food and service, prices are really adequate and fair. A great asset in this over-priced city. The one thing I noticed is that the ambiance noise in the room (conversations, overal environment) was a bit uncomfortable; I guess the room needs some sound barriers or something to get the sound bouncing under control.

Went to brunch with some friends. We got a private booth at the back. Drinks were promptly delivered, but the water was on the warm side. Food arrived within a decent interval, but one of the orders was wrong. The food itself was delicious and nicely presented. Biggest disappointment came after we asked for the check. We waited at least 20' for her to come with it, and another 5' for her to bring the credit card machine. Within this 20', we saw her move around the dining area refilling water, even though there were at least two other waitstaff doing the same thing. After bringing the card machine, she left, and we entered our own transactions into the machine. We asked for a pen to fill out the comment card, and she didn't have one.

I've been to Chambar many times and love the new renovation. The restaurant looks fantastic and the patio is great. The Sommelier suggested a great bottle of wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately the food was a disappointment. Perhaps the kitchen was tired as it was the night of a concert and Lions game. Apparently they were very busy before we arrived. However that shouldn't be an excuse for poor food. Had the moules & frites which I've had before. There were very few mussels, and of the ones I had several were unopened and thus in edible. The sauce wasn't even good so that I could dip my bread and fries in. May come back for drinks and more wine but it will be awhile before I eat there again.

Brand new location is at least twice as big as old one. Nice decor. Brought space. Very nice patio seating as well. Went for brunch and brunch menu is similar to Medina's. I much prefer their dinner menu. Place wasn't busy for a Saturday lunch time. Perhaps trying to grow lunch crowd. Food tasted average.

One of the items we ordered was poutine, and our waitress gave us the heads up that it had blue cheese and said they could do cheddar instead. We appreciated the warning, and requested the cheddar. When we tasted our poutine, we realized we got the blue cheese. We let our waitress know, and she took it away and said they'd correct it. The replacement didn't arrive until we had pretty much finished our food, and so we packed it. When we were ready to pay, she brought the bill and credit card machine together, and I paid without first checking the bill. I looked afterwards, and while I thought they might remove the poutine as a nice gesture since it came so late, instead we got charged for TWO poutines. Not great.

Chambar was once one of Vancouver's finest restaurants. It moved next door. Now, it is overly loud, lighting so dim that no one, including the staff, can read the menus and the service is abysmal. Waited 15 minutes for waiter to show up or at least bring water and when it did not happen, had to go to the front desk and explain we had been forgotten about. A waiter came then and took our order, which he could not hear above the noisy terrible music, and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times because it also appeared the waiter was unfamiliar with the menu or how to pronounce the French named dishes. French fries came and were not crispy but soggy. A large percentage of the mussels had not opened. Will try again in a few months.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent, but the food in my opinion was okay, nothing extrodinary. The desserts were dissapointing. I think they were trying too hard to WOW you with presentation instead of just making a really delicious dessert. I would however likely go here again just for the ambiance.

We loved the new space! Much more elbow room. The large outdoor patio (not where we were unfortunately) was obviously the popular choice. Off the street and still very much a part of the restaurant. We had an out of town guest along so stuck with our tried & true, the mussels with lardon & fries. Large, succulent, with a fantastic broth. Fresh baguette to accompany. Their twist on poutine includes blue cheese (which we like) but the combination didn't work for us. The service was top drawer; attentive and we never felt rushed. Overall our best of many experiences here.

Chambar came to our attention during a visit to Vancouver as one of the best places to eat. It was. Look beyond the Belgian standards -- mussels, frites (delicious, though not the crisp golden ones) and the long list of Belgian beers. The real treasure here is the chef's wonderful, imaginative, southern-hemisphere-inspired take on other menu staples. Beet salad (OK, "carpaccio" here) is livened up with a spicy raita and tiny dollops of mint paste; the spiced duck likewise comes with unexpected turns of flavor. Both dishes transcend the usual preparations of beets and duck. We hope to return. Ambience is classic Belgian bistro, though servers affect a formal dress and manner.

Food was good but we had an hour and a half parking that ran out of money... Seriously? The tables were so close to each other that when I got out of my seat, my rear end was all over the neighbours table ( I'm a size 8) and we could hear our neighbours conversation very clearly without having to listen. No space, no privacy, not a good experience.

The tables are too small for a group of four. Some of the plates were too big for the small table and overall felt very cramped. It has lost a lot of it's ambiance due to the bigger size of the restaurant and feels more corporate. We would dare say it border line felt like an Earl's. Had some large plastic piece in our salad. They replaced it with something else and comped it plus gave us a dessert tray. One at our table thought the mussels tasted soapy. It was ok nothing spectacular that makes us want to go back.

My party and I were thoroughly impressed with our breakfast/brunch experience at Chambar last week. The staff are beyond professional, and the atmosphere is welcoming and enjoyable. The food was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, plated with style, and everything exceeded expectations with respect to taste. I was most pleasantly pleased with the final bill too, which may be tacky to point out, but I could not believe we all had such a great experience for the price paid. I will certainly return to Chambar.

Wonderful food, as always, but what really sets Chambar apart from other fine dining establishments is the 5-star service. It is miles ahead of other restaurants in the city - from the hostesses all the way to the kind gentleman with glasses who appeared to be the owner or manager. We had a fantastic night and were treated like VIPs the whole time. Chambar is consistently one of the very best in the whole city - we can't wait to return.

Chambar has always been one of my favourite restaurants, which is why it's hard to write this review. The renos are nice and hopefully they are working out a few kinks. Food and atmosphere is always great. However, our table was in a corner and it wasn't pleasant staring at a black wall (it was also very dark)… a piece of artwork or nice light is needed. But really the reason I'm writing this is because I have to say the service was probably the worst I've ever had and I've dined here countless times. The server was very rude and we felt rushed with ordering every time she came to the table. We also know how to order when we dine here (lots of plates to share!) and she kept pushing us to order more. I'll be back, but not for a few months.

Service started off a little on the slow side and we unfortunately had to call the manager over. He apologized profusively, paid for our first round of drinks, and switched out the service staff. From there on in it was heaven. Cocktails were fabulous but the food - out of this world. Not a lick left on any of our plates. One of the best meals I have had, in any city (quite frankly) in a long time. Memorable...

I have been to chambar before at the old location. As usual, the food was awesome, but perhaps they still have kinks to work out at the new location, the service wasn't good. We had been to Chambar several times, before they opened for lunch. The place looks beautiful the design amazing and the lamps outstanding. Very disappointed with the food though. 4 of us ordered the pork, one was ok, the others too hard and one totally uneatable, it was red inside. The rest of the food was mediocre. I was surprised, because I've always liked dinners at Chambar. I wonder if its a different chef for lunch??

We have loved Chambar over the years, coming back many times for dinner. We went for brunch the first weekend it re-opened and loved the Medina menu and lovely new dining room. On the back of that good experience we suggested the restaurant as a spot for our group of 8 celebrating a birthday. What a bust! The service was bad! Our server was clearly out of her league and the rest of the staff did not impress. We tried to order a drink for about a half an hour then had to wait at least 20 minutes for it to come to the table. That was the beginning and the service just went down from. Sadly, when talking about it with our friends after, it's left a bad impression in all of our minds. Is this a case of a great restaurant that got too big?

Not much to complain about here! :) The food was delicious and staff was attentive. A great spot to grab a yummy bite on a date night. That said, seating was a bit cramped and, although service was prompt/professional, I wouldn't come back to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated close enough to other tables that other people could join in our conversations; and this is after I requested a quieter section as we were celebrating our recent engagement. I don't need to feel like a rockstar, but its nice to feel like more than another mouth to (albeit, politely) feed. Overall, great experience in terms of food/service- a rare find! However, would be improved if we had more space than a cafeteria dining hall to enjoy our special night.

At dinner Sat night, the food and the service were great. However the volume of the music at dinner prohibited conversation. While we remember Chambar (and The Medina Cafe) as noisy, our impression was always of happy chatter and noise reflected off of many hard surfaces, which we felt was comfortable and enjoyable. This time the noise level was nearly painful, and interfered with our enjoyment of each other and our meals. The next day at brunch (11:30AM) we were happy to be seated outdoors, where quiet conversation, warm sun, a cool breeze and excellently prepared food made for a lovely al fresco meal. However, soon enough a loudspeaker was placed outdoors, and the peace was disturbed/ spoiled. We are not inclined to return.

I ordered mussels and my husband ordered duck. Both were cooked very well especially the mussels which were the best I ever had in Vancouver. Their dessert was very outstanding too. In short, food was cooked just right to the perfect. Our server was Alex. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, made great suggestion on what to order, very proactive to what we needed, and had a good sense of humor. My husband and I had a wonderful meal there. The only thing was this restaurant was more of a noisy place which was perfectly fine with us however if you prefer a quiet place for dining, you might want to go elsewhere.
