Service started off a little on the slow side and we unfortunately had to call the manager over. He apologized profusively, paid for our first round of drinks, and switched out the service staff. From there on in it was heaven. Cocktails were fabulous but the food - out of this world. Not a lick left on any of our plates. One of the best meals I have had, in any city (quite frankly) in a long time. Memorable...

From start to finish dining at Chambar is a delight. Fantastic service from a very engaged and knowledgeable staff. We had a lovely server who was attentive and fun. The food is outstanding. It was all perfect. We have been to the old location and new location has the same wonderful vibe but there is more space but still intimate. I highly recommend the Chambar.

I have been to chambar before at the old location. As usual, the food was awesome, but perhaps they still have kinks to work out at the new location, the service wasn't good. It took about 30min to get the bottle of wine that we ordered, and the waiter didn't come around to follow up to see we need anything after we have placed our initial orders. Hopefully it will get better.

We had been to Chambar several times, before they opened for lunch. The place looks beautiful the design amazing and the lamps outstanding. Very disappointed with the food though. 4 of us ordered the pork, one was ok, the others too hard and one totally uneatable, it was red inside. The rest of the food was mediocre. I was surprised, because I've always liked dinners at Chambar. I wonder if its a different chef for lunch??

Restaurant had just moved to new bigger location so staffing had not increased. Meal too k 3 hours because it took so long for each course but each course was delicious and innovative so despite the snail pace we would return. Staff was friendly but overwhelmed. I think everyone in town wanted to see the new digs.

Not much to complain about here! :) The food was delicious and staff was attentive. A great spot to grab a yummy bite on a date night. That said, seating was a bit cramped and, although service was prompt/professional, I wouldn't come back to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated close enough to other tables that other people could join in our conversations; and this is after I requested a quieter section as we were celebrating our recent engagement. I don't need to feel like a rockstar, but its nice to feel like more than another mouth to (albeit, politely) feed. Overall, great experience in terms of food/service- a rare find! However, would be improved if we had more space than a cafeteria dining hall to enjoy our special night.

It was my birthday dinner, our reservation was for 6 at 8:15. We didn't even get water to drink until 9:00pm. Service was terrible including the unwelcoming hostess. We were treated as if we were invisible. We didn't get out of there until midnight as it took that long to get our food.Talk about putting a damper on my birthday dinner. There were no apologies,we had to track down our sever just to get water at 9pm,the drinks we ordered in the foyer on the couches upstairs never arrived. We finally were served drinks after 9 pm.Our bill for 6 of us was $455, not worth it for the rotten experience we had there.Don't get me wrong, we like nice restaurants that are pricey. We don't like them when we are ignored and treated poorly for no reason.

I ordered mussels and my husband ordered duck. Both were cooked very well especially the mussels which were the best I ever had in Vancouver. Their dessert was very outstanding too. In short, food was cooked just right to the perfect. Our server was Alex. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, made great suggestion on what to order, very proactive to what we needed, and had a good sense of humor. My husband and I had a wonderful meal there. The only thing was this restaurant was more of a noisy place which was perfectly fine with us however if you prefer a quiet place for dining, you might want to go elsewhere.

The charcuteries plate came with bread that was too thick and too chewy for it's intended purpose--to accompany seven different types of meat, four of which were salami. The meats were good, but it was a bit strange eating them on their own as sliced deli rounds, and I would have preferred some thin, hard toasts. The tuna done two ways--fried and ceviche--was half good. The ceviche with corn salsa was very tasty. The tuna melted in my mouth and the flavours worked well together. The fried was overcooked, so its flavour was completely lost, especially when contrasted with the ceviche. The smoked duck was delicious, except cutting it with the dinner knives provided took quite a bit of work. Sawing through meat isn't my idea of a good time.

In our group of four out of town guests we had someone who was celiac and someone who was vegetarian. There seemed to be something for everyone and a couple of choices. For those that wanted to experiment a little the extensive list of cocktails, that were just a little bit different, was fantastic. I really like the Tanjic lamb but for some reason this time it was too heavy on the ginger and light on the apricots, oh well, still delicious.

We found the ambience of the restaurant perfect for a late night meal. The plating was definitely a work of art and the flavor combinations worked well. Our server was not the same calliber. She was very sweet, but we had to flag her down for everything after she introduced herself. She didn't ask if we wanted drinks - who does that? It's a bar atmosphere! She didn't ever ask us if we were ready to order. And we had to flag the hostess to find out about desert. Not sure if that server was the only one like that or not, but if you are charging high prices, the wait staff should be much better trained.

On a recent trip to Vancouver, BC my friends and I made reservations at Chambar near Gastown. We had never experienced a Belgian-Morrocan fusion food so we were all pretty excited to try their fare. It was fantastic. We started with the smoked duck breast which was a perfect nosh for four people before our meal. It was served with whipped goat cheese, micro greens, and white currants - amazing. Then our entrees came: moules frites congolaise, halibut, ny steak, and Morrocan lamb shank. All of us were extremely pleased with our dishes, the portions were large so don't assume you'll be able to eat it all - this is coming from a true foodie that can eat like a champ. Anyway, our server was extremely charming and helpful as well. Love Chambar!

We had an amazing time here. Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived, but that was ok with us since we were wanting to take a quick walk around the area anyway. The drinks were inventive and went down easily. The entrees are HUGE, and the small plates are on the larger side. The beef and mushrooms is to die for, the mussels were some of the best I've had a in a long time, and the lamb shank was perfectly spiced and so amazingly tender. I would definitely return here, and probably regularly get a small plate for my entree with a side and (a couple) cocktails.

We had the best meal at Chambar. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer, which was a lot of food, but soooo good. My dinner of lamb and couscous had a distinctly North African feel to it. I highly recommend it. To top it off, their cocktails and selection of Belgian beers was also top notch. The whole dinner was a real treat. We will be sure to go back whenever we are in town.

While at first the meals looks small-ish, they're very filling. Only a few selection of platters, but covers wide variety of tastes. Great alcohol selection. Friendly, unobtrusive service. The only complaint I have is that it's as loud as any brawny pub, which contrasts with the romantic beauty of the decor and seatings.

The mussels were great - the rest of the food definitely not so much. Service extremely slow - waited ages for food, had to try to nab passing waiters if needed something. Too noisy (it's a "live" room anyhow then the music is cranked up) should be able to easily talk to each other, and please lose that dryer in ladies room, hurts ears. Put back towels. This has only been my second time coming to Chambar and I have never been disappointed by their perfectly executed service and food quality.
