We cook authentic, Swiss-influenced dishes here and – using only the best meats and fresh produce – offer a diverse menu of world fare. Try our wood-fired pizzas made right before your eyes, Swiss cheese fondue, delicious skillets, healthy salads and much more. True to our European roots we serve Erdinger, the finest Bavarian wheat beer, as well as Bitburger Pils on tap, brewed according to traditional recipes.   • "We had been to this restaurant a few times in the past, but this time we were disappointed. I always like the rosti potatoes, but this time they were like greasy, frozen hash browns. The food was very salty. We may go back and try different things, but wondered if they had changed recipes or cooks. I think the owners are the same. They perhaps should get their bratwurst from Alpine Village! My husband had pork and it was very overlooked and dry."

  • "Went with high expectations, anticipating a great Wienerschnitzel. What I was served was 2 little morsels the size of my thumb, both very chewy and full of gristle. The salad was good. This extremely modest lunch for 16 dollars. My wife had the chicken schnitzel..very dry, to the point of being almost inedible, and was accompanied by the most tasteless rosti potatoes I have encountered in my life...all that for 13 dollars. Making the day survivable, the Bitburger on tap saved us from raising a ruckus and refusing to pay our tab. The new server was a pleasure. This restaurant is, hands down, simply the absolutely worst restaurant of this genre I have eaten at in my 60+ years. They need to wake up or find another line of work."

However, the food is NOT for those who look for light-weight California style cooking. Think more of a traditional German style. The ambiance is not fancy, but makes for a nice neighborhood restaurant."

  • "We enjoyed our foray into Chalet Edelweiss. Service was top notch and the food was good but not perfect. The Wiener Schnitzel was dry, the onion-mushroom brown sauce on the Schnitzel was terrific but the meat was mostly chewy. We loved the giant pretzel appetizer and the mustard was great. The Apple Strudel was fabulous! I prefer the German Spaetzle preparation to the Swiss Spatzli. The red cabbage was tasty. I hope that when I write a note in my reservation about celebrating a special event, it is conveyed to the appropriate people but it wasn't and I had to say something to make sure they understood. I partially blame that on the haphazard way you are seated and the bus boy being the one to check the reservation on Open Table."

  • "I've been looking for a place in Los Angeles that makes a delicious fondue, and I've finally found it. Loaded with kirsch, just the right consistency, full of flavor and presented perfectly. The service was very scattered and absent minded. My water never came, the wine was delayed, the bill was wrong, but man-oh-man, the fondue made up for it. "

  • "The Schnitzel is definitely good. It's some of the best I've had in the US. The pretzel appetizer was fantastic. The restaurant is a gem in a coal mine ... the location, right on Sepulveda in that strip-mall sort of area isn't what I expected with such a romantic name and menu. They do a great job with the decor though. The food is amazingly authentic and the draft beer is a full 17 ounces, if I remember correctly."

  • "A friend was in from out of town staying by LAX so I found this restaurant online near it since I live in the SFV and wasn't familiar with the area. We both enjoy good beer so we gave it a try. The beer was delicious. I had the goulash - super yummy. My husband and friend had the special the Berner plate and both ate every last bite!"

However, someone must have sat them down and reviewed their meals, and now we LOVED the restaurant again. Not many places for German/Swiss food in the area, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to all. We will go back in the near future."

  • "It is so refreshing to dine at a restaurant that offers something wonderful and out of the ordinary. Swiss or Germant restaurants are few and far between, and Chalet Edelweiss is a real gem! The food is delicious and the ambience warm and welcoming. From the menu offerings to the decor, we felt like we were on vacation back in Switzerland. While everything on the menu sounds delicious, I can't wait to go back and have the goulash again!"

  • "This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious, the staff friendly and the owner makes a point if greeting you and stopping by the table to make sure that everything is good. Start with a big pretzel, served hot with the most delicious mustard. While the rest of my family loves the wonderful German style food, my daughter will only eat the pizza...that she says is amazing."

The service was prompt and courteous. The ambience is blond wood furnishings--not very "Alpine," or Rhinelandish, but "a good time was had by all." I will be back."

  • "This is the second time I've been here. The first was maybe 5 years ago. The good: Pleasant place, excellent wait staff, cozy feel. The pretzel was excellent, the potatoes covered with cheese appetizer was good. Smoked salmon with capers and the cream sauce on the side is a far cry from pickled herring -- which is what it should be. It smacks of cheapness -- open a Trader Joes container of smoked salmon and voilla, there's your starter. The red cabbage wasn't bad. That's about it. My wife's wienerschitzel was dry and boring, just like it was 5 years ago, and the breaded crust falls right off. The sausage I had was obviously just reheated, it wasn't cooked from raw to done, my pork cutlet was fair, but dry. dad's Goulash was good"

  • "We are fond of another Swiss place in Van Nuys, and were looking forward to trying the Chalet's Fondue. When we got there a projection system with a Baseball Game on covering a huge portion of the North wall was the predominant thing in the room. This was hardly what one might expect when going to such an establishment. The Fondue and other dishes were OK, but not quite on par with some others that we have been to. The staff were very nice, and the service was fine. But....If we wanted our dinner to be about a Baseball game, we would have chosen a Sports Bar instead of a Swiss restaurant."

  • "Excellent authentic Swiss cuisine!!!... and... Our servers, Oscar & Mayama (spelling?), were very attentive and friendly... The place was empty & quiet when we arrived at 6pm on a Tuesday... but... It got a bit too noisy during the meal (we prefer peace & quiet when we dine)... soooo... Next time we'll go earlier to avoid the "energetic" aspect..."
