I had the skirt steak of beef which was perfect and my boyfriend had the simple salmon which is always delicious. The hostess was very accommodating and seated us next to the beautiful waterfall since we were unable to sit at a bungalow like I had requested when we made the reservation a month ago. They always make it a point to tell you that it is not guaranteed that you'll have one and they're mainly for large groups so you can't really get mad. The food is fabulous, creative and sigh-inspiring delicious. The french fries with truffle oil and 3 sauces is a must-have. My 17-year-old son had the rigatoni with slow roasted rabbit and was in heaven. So tender and flavorful. I had the diver sea scallops special with brussel sprouts and a bacon foam. Fabulous! The dessert with bananas, caramel, peanut butter, whipped chocolate and Hawaiian seat salt-- amazing! I closed my eyes after just about every bite. I can't think of enough superlatives to describe this meal. We booked within an hour of our reservation on a busy Saturday night and wow! what a surprise we had. The outside of Chakra looks like an old warehouse but once you step inside, nothing could be further from the truth! Sumptuous cushions on sofas, soft candle light, exposed brick walls, well placed spot lights above each table so one can read the menu, amazingly prepared food with exquisite desserts. The service and food continue the fantasy that you have left Jersey and are perhaps in NYC, California or Miami - a destination where food is respected. We enjoyed sharing sushi rolls as starters, then three if us had the crabcakes. These were full of huge lumps of moist crab meat with only enough filler to keep it together from pan to plate. Clearly they were not deep fried as they were not in the least greasy. They were light and moist. Couldn't be happier with the attention we received from Fausto our server. We are somewhat load and rowdy, but insist on good food, wine and drink. Chakra is perfect for us. We get early reservations as we tend not to rush, we started with drinks at the bar at 5:45 and did not leave our table until 9:00.
In my 2 visits the food was is good to excellent, the wine list is extensive with many moderate price selections, with a good selection of wine by the glass.
Our favorite part of the evening was the Green Apple Cotton Candy with French Macaroons.
Service is top notch, friendly not stuffy and no one pushing us to leave so they could turn the table over.
