  • My wife and I had remembered

My wife and I had remembered this place mostly for its ambience and clever presentation of cocktails for example, but on our recent visit, we were reminded of how good the FOOD was. Modest portions, creatively and tastefully presented, and FRESH and SIMPLY prepared. We were there with my parents who are not just from India, but are also the toughest food critics I know. And THEY were wildly impressed. The okra dish (get it "south india" style) was incredible. The first time that a dish at a restaurant has woken me up like this one did. These guys did something few Indian restaurants are known for--letting the inherent flavor of the actual meat or veggie be the star. This is now gonna be a regular on our circuit.

Got an online deal for Chakra and were seated in the private booth area - nice private seating option, w gauzy draping between each booth. We were able to make a couple of substitutions off the regular menu on our deal, which was great. The first course was a shared appetizer of grilled pieces of chicken with a salad and tangy sauce accompanyments - I don't remember what it was called, but it was delish. Light and refreshing and full of flavor. I HIGHLY recommend this tasty starter! I agree with some online reviews that the tikka masala was a bit tomato-y, but it was still good. Saag Paneer was very green & spinach-y, but good too. Dessert trio was a refreshing last course. All around good dinner with decent wine list!

Beautiful, romantic and serene setting and the best Indian food I have ever had. Unfortunately, the service was slow and problematic. Bus boy, who was new, poured water into my half full wine glass and dropped off several dishes without description or with incorrect description. Time between courses seemed interminable. The meal took forever and even after complaining to the hostess, it still took time to get the food cleared and receive our check. But the food and setting are so great, I will try again.

Food, service, price, ambience all wonderful. The only thing keeping me from an "outstanding" was the several unfortunate "almost collisions" I witnessed between servers rushing into a walkway where two corridors converge. I think it could be dangerous and that either more training or a new configuration would be wise.

This was our second visit, first for brunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. Curry dishes as well as grill (tandoori) chicken were done just right and the vegetables, specially okra was fantastic. The tandoori chicken pieces, particularly leg piece should be a bit longer but overall, a great experience and fabulous value.

I was looking for a restaurant to take friends of ours to that would be different. I liked the reviews of this restaurant and decided to go. It was a great experience. The service was great. There is valet parking available. I liked that there were no kids in site. I would not call this a kid friendly place. It is so romantic that a kid would set it off, not offense to children intended. Will go again. Our friends loved the location and cant wait for us to pick another location.

Another good find in Beverly Hills. It was about a mile walk from the hotel but worth it. We got there a bit early and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender was great. We talked like old friends and he told us about the type of drinks he would like to make and place on the menu. He then let us sample a bit of the mango lassie and all three of us were discussing new drink ideas. After that we went to the restaurant area and asked if we'd like to sit in the cabana area. It a great idea as it takes you away from having a standard eat-and-leave type of meal. The waiter, hostest, and waiter were very attentive (in that order). My white wine the meal was not chilled properly (but I'm not picky). But all else went like clockwork

Amazing food. Amazing. Best tikka masala in the city, and the chicken is so moist! The chef personally came out to help me find gluten-free items to order, which was pretty much everything except the naan. Cheap drinks and nice-size portions for happy hour. The valet is free. This is our new favorite Indian restaurant.

I would consider Chakra "high-end" Indian food. While you can get many of the same dishes for less at other Indian restaurants, this is what I would consider gourmet. Everything tastes better at Chakra. At least what I had. You can distinguish the purity of ingredients, the preparation and the presentation from other restaurants. What makes little sense is how empty Chakra was on a Friday night. The interior is beautiful. The staff is well trained, courteous and professional. I would go back again..

I had never tried Indian food, but being that it was a 1000 pointer, I gave it a whirl. I am certainly happy of my decision. Thank you Open Table for using the 1000 point reservation to lure me into this neighborhood gem. We chose a romantic table where we sat on a sofa and were sectioned off by beautiful sheer curtains. I am one who loves flavors and Indian food is filled with them. We ordered big, because we wanted to try so many different things. Ultimately it was way too much, but everything was so flavorful. Do not miss this place.

I found the restaurant on open table and decided to try it out with my mother who was in town, we had such a great time, she is vegan and they have a whole section of vegan dishes that were so flavorful and delicious. This is a must try for foodies and certainly one of my new go-to places in LA.

They rushed us out, with no desert option or any sort of concession, because they had an event booking at 9pm. Our reservation was for 7:15 but half of our party was 30 mins late and they had the nerve to say "if you'd shown up on time, you would not have been rushed." They should have TOLD US that we have to be out before 9pm so we could have decided if we wanted to have a rushed dinner rather than going somewhere else and enjoying a dinner that could last 2hrs on a Friday night. That left a bad taste in our mouth and we will not be returning. As for food, taste was decent, though the curry dishes were heavily lacking in protein and had too much curry. Doesn't work well for sharing when the goan shrimp dish costing $23 only has 4 shrimp

A blond woman was the hostess. She didn't look up when our party of 4 entered as she was on the phone. After concluding the call she looked at us, no smile, no hello, and asked how many people. We told her we had a reservation. She then marched us to a table without any hospitality at all. Food was pretty bland, and a main course of fish arrived 20 minutes after all of the other dishes. The place was nearly empty, and it was incredibly disappointing. Food was marginal and the servers were fine, but the hostess left us all with a bad taste. We will NOT recommend this to our friends nor will we ever return.

Food was hit & miss but I might say that we just didn't have the taste for our particular dish. Samosas were quite tasty, well made, if a bit pricey. Portions were very generous for entrees and there is a crispy cracker complementary "bread" item that was very enjoyable. Unfortunately Chakra would not honor the Openable dining check. They very politely refused it but it did prove to be inconvenient. Chakra is okay, you won't be unhappy if you go but I will not be returning. Valet parking was free, that is a great plus.
