Ceres' TableGreat food. But I agree withGreat food. But I agree with other diners- sound level is high.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGiuseppe serves up a great nightEvery time we go to Ceres' Table we realize that we should go more often. Our last visit was for my wife's birthday — and I think it was the best meal so far. Ceres' has a great wine list, which I think the chef curates himself (I've talked to him a few times trying out a new wine at the bar early in the night before people start arriving).6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFlawlessFrom the moment my dining partner and I walked in the door, we were promptly treated by our host, and directed to the bar, while our table was being prepared for us. The bartender was friendly, courteous, professional, and his drinks were fabulous. Not metered, and weak, but a healthy pour. Our gracious, bubbly, and enthusiastic server, was very knowledgable with about all of the dishes, and gave very inticing descriptions of the specials, and of our meal choices, as I looked around, I noted, a very diverse group of diners, and the noise level was the perfect hum of a busy hot-spot on a weekend night. Our table, by the window, was just what I would have selected, and the lighting level was the perfect glow. A wonderful dining experience!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPork entree was rapped inPork entree was rapped in pork belly and it was so hard it was not edible. Chicken dish a little flat? Appetizers and dessert . In our booth our table was so far from the seats it was uncomfortable. We originally thought the table wasn't centered because we both felt so far from it. Something needs to be done about this. I almost asked for a booster seat.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgood foodWe enjoyed this restaurant very much, our only criticism is that it does get noisy--not bar noisy, just from happy diners talking. The food was creative but not not too creative. Staff friendly but not intrusively so.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWorthy of goddessNamed for a Greek goddess it deliver a heavenly experience.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI'll be backI loved the Chef /Owner Giuseppe, who not only prepared a unique and tasty dish, but actually brought it out to the table. In fact, the entire menu was unique and interesting. Great location in Uptown, noticed that the cozy and fun bar was busy later (on a Monday night) with Owner Giuseppe mingling with guests. really nice touch. Only negative was my waiter that seemed annoyed with servicing our table. perhaps a bad day, but don't let that keep you away from this really special place. loved it!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious! Try it.We found this restaurant via open table and it is an instant hit in our family.
The food was outstanding. The wine list was wonderful as well.
We highly recommend it. Also, it is on Clark, but on a less busy block, so easy parking, free after 6 pm.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLast ThursdaysWhat a great idea to offer a particular cuisine on the last Thursday of the month together with the choice of the regular menu. A wonderful introduction to foods one does not generally find in restaurants in the U.S..5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service to goOutstanding service to go with the exceptional food. This is a wonderful place,5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten here a few timesI have eaten here a few times and always enjoy the food and creatvity of the food selections. Service was ok but a little slow during my last visit due to the few number of waiters.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service hereThe food and service here are consistently great! I highly recommend. The weekends tend to be packed but during the week you can usually get a reservation.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMq dining experiance in uptownCeres' Table combines a relaxed neighborhood feel with fine dining. Our group of four tried two salads, four entrees, a pasta dish to share and two desserts. No need to identify the dishes everything was fabulous. We left stuffed and dazzled by the complexity of the dishes and the beautiful presentations. Service is relaxed but attentive. This restaurant seems to be off the radar screen but not for long.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently greatReally good food and very friendly service. Staff is attentive and pleasant. The food is so so so good. I get something different every time. Love this place!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA creative menu - we enjoyedA creative menu - we enjoyed everything we had. Our server was friendly & knowledgable. Especially loved the "in bloom" cocktail. Worth going out of your way to visit Ceres' Table.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA Reason to ReturnThis restaurant was handy to The Andersonville Guesthouse, where we were staying, so it was a natural choice the first night, a Saturday. Upon recommendation, we had made a reservation, but that turned out not to have been necessary, at least not in early May. We were so delighted with Ceres Table that we chose it for our final meal in Chicago, too. There is an art to reading the menu, we found We asked questions and received helpful descriptions and suggestions. The crab Louie and the sweet potato side were our favorites. Among the desserts, the strawberry rhubarb crisp was a hit with the blueberry pie a close second.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad we cameBeen wanting to try this restaurant for a while, on the recommendations from other friends. Started with a delicious cocktail, had the ceviche special, which was fresh and tasty. Went on to the cocoa pasta special, which was not sweet at all, but delicious with egg and bacon. The olive oil chocolate cake and the strawberry shortcake that we shared were also terrific. Our server, Misty, was enthusiastic about the restaurant and the food and was delightful. Will definitely be back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, creative food;Delicious, creative food; nice friendly service; easy to park; relaxed, attractive atmosphere5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Pasta Dishes! The bucatini was good enough to be a "last meal" request. It is on their Spring menu so wont last. Had currants in it. Simply prepared but with big flavors.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent first impressionWe had been meaning to try Ceres' Table for ages and finally stopped in on Friday night. We were immediately taken by the creative cocktail menu. I had a hibiscus-flavored house soda which I really enjoyed. My dining partner had a "blackened cosmo" which he loved.
The food was across the board excellent. Stand outs were a fantastic & unique "crab louie" (with fingerling potatoes, tomatoes, green bean) and a pasta special which was a great spin on a "pasta carbonara" with homemade, cocoa-colored pasta, Parmesan cheese, ramps, peas, bacon and a gorgeously cooked egg yolk on top. Perfect.
Service was personal, knowledgeable and very friendly.
We will definitely be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent fresh food, theExcellent fresh food, the duck breast and pasta was perfect, and an energetic waitress5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMCeres Table Comes Throughthe new Spring menu has arrived, and once again Chef has outdone himself with new, innovative, highly tasty items with fish and meat. the deserts are new too. what remains of the old is the lovely service and hospitality! don't miss out, and remember, the parking is free after 6PM (a real break in Chi-town).4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food at a reasonableVery good food at a reasonable price! Tuesday wine discounts are heavenly too.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, dinner Ceres' TableAs always, dinner Ceres' Table was a wonderful experience. We started with the arancine, which were absolutely exquisite. The sweet potato soup was delicious, and the two side dishes we ordered, the beets and a sort of potato turnover (don't remember the exact name) were excellent. I had the ricotta gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms and spinach, which was great and was a huge serving. We had the chocolate and tangerine cake, also wonderful. I have yet to be disappointed at Ceres' Table.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCere's table was a great choiceCere's table was a great choice for a low key but delicious dinner. Wonderful flavors and combinations. Portions a bit on the small side. Unfortunately they were out of two of the entrees on the fairly small menu, apparently due to poor quality of the ingredients. We managed to find other acceptable options.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic. ServerFood was fantastic. Server rushed us along despite it being the end of the night and well within closing time. That is the only reason for the reduced overall rating.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful. IfThe food was wonderful. If you get the opportunity to go hear, do as we did adn allow the Chef to choose for you. sit back and enjoy the ride!!! Buon appetito!!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Ceres' Table. We had an early reservation because of theater tickets which explains the quiet of the usually bustling and noisy room. Our server was warm, knowledgable and helpful. My companion had the artichoke salad and ossobuco; the ossobuco was melt-in-your-mouth perfect, no knife necessary. My beet salad was full of interesting tastes, especially the addition of pistachio nuts which added a lovely crunch and flavor. The whitefish with lobster ravioli was perfect; every flavor on the plate made it special. I look forward to sampling the new menu that starts soon.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBad service, great food.Very good food, which is why we'd come back. Drawbacks were it was VERY VERY noisy. We had a table of 6 and the table was SO large (they put 2 tables together) that we couldn't hear the other half of the table. Another drawback was that our waiter was not up to par. His attitude was annoyance with us and he was not good at explaining our food to us. We asked what the "baracca" (sp?) cheese was, and he said in a snooty way that it was like a mozzarella cheese as if we were idiots not to know this. He rarely checked in on us. Granted, it was very busy, but when he DID check in on us and we had questions or wanted more water, etc. he said, "I guess I shouldn't have asked." Not a good experience, but our friends all enjoyed their food.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMService was very slow. WeService was very slow. We had to flag down our waitress after 30 minutes just to take our order. Seemed like they were a waiter short which really affected our dining experience in a negative way.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely As AlwaysAnother great meal. Not sure how long the cheese gnocchi will be on the menu, but it was amazing....lovely cream sauce with garlic, spniach and mushrooms. Osso bocca was so tender that I didn't need a knife. Don't know many teens that like steak, but my 15 yr old daughter loves the flat iron steak. Can't remember the name of the dish, but it was amazing....a pasta with an elk meat sauce (hubby loved it).
We have never had a problem with the service and the staff is always welcoming.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMKudos to Cere's TableAs always Cere's Table was an enjoyable experience. The food is always innovative and quite tasty. I had the duck breast special, the duck was succulent and cooked to perfection. The carppacio was rare, sliced paper thin and served with the appropriate accompaniments. This has become a traditional place for my friends to celebrate their anniversary and we are sure this tradition will continue. Kudos to Cere's Table.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu selections are creativeThe menu selections are creative and enticing. I love going to a restaurant where there are several items that sound good and Cere's Table certainly is that place. My whitefish with lobster ravioli was outstanding! I'll be back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place - GO! GO! GO!This is one of my favorite new places (new to me). The chef is from Italy and has worked at some highly rated Chicago restaurants before opening his own place. The food is delicious - focusing on fresh seasonal ingredients! I have been there twice within the past 2 weeks with different groups of friends and I think I could continue to eat here once a week! The prices are reasonable (entrees are $20-25, pastas slightly less) and they have a nice cocktail, wine, and beer menu. Desserts were also fantastic. There is plenty of street and meter parking. They are located on Clarke, just a little south of Andersonville.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife enjoyed her birthday. My wife enjoyed her birthday. All the food was delicious. I just kept eating and eating. The service was excellent.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Ceres table reallyThe food at Ceres table really brings back to the US the feeling of dining in Italy. The dishes are simply prepared with quality ingredients. It definitely brings back memories of dining in Italy. While they did appear to be a bit understaffed, it did not really affect the meal because it just meant that there was not a server at your table every 10 seconds interrupting conversation.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe regular menu deliversThe regular menu delivers on Tues which features wine specials.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCeres cuddles continuallyChef continues new creations with favorites, always market fresh and spot-on! Who knew Tuesday night was 50% off wine over 50$. Attentive, fun service staff. Don't miss it. Free parking on city street after six pm is another plus!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
